They say this shit all the fucking time, yet they can never point to concrete reasons why. At best, they just parrot the fucking articles from Motherboard and friends, arguing that it's a net positive that some ass like Milo Yiannopolous or Alex Jones gets nuked because it "means less hate speech," when most with a sense of pattern recognition point out that going all out against them makes your own side look like it isn't able to take them on, justifies all your opposition's craziest conspiratorial shit, and makes you look like the bad guy. The fact that people are accused of "false equivalencies" and other "guide to fallacies" stuff for simply stating facts is scary.

This misuse of the notion of the logical fallacy really irks me, and only serves to make you look pseudo-intellectual and insufferable.

Maybe, but the people that do find them will be much more devoted to them (because the deplatforming proved them right when they claimed to be under siege by the establishment). And any terrible ideas the deplatformed have are less likely to be confronted with open debate within their insular supporter communities, and so any extreme views they promote will only fester and grow "in darkness."

As I think you were implying, deplatforming betrays a strange apparent belief that if you don't see something, it no longer exists. It also implies a profound authoritarian contempt for humanity: "you people are so dumb, you'll only come to the correct conclusions if you're fed only the right information." This is how you breed a silent majority of people united in their hatred of you.

Because it's not meant to be profitable it's intended to be propaganda. In the former Soviet Union they opened thousands of "Soviet Culture" museums that never made a profit and lost millions of dollars a year? Why because then the Soviet commissars could give every bum a job and claim that they had a 100% employed populace. It wasn't true but the optics were great at least for the short term.

1. Public museums weren't supposed to be "profitable". The public / government / entrenched party bureaucrats owned everything, and they didn't need accounting tricks like demanding hundreds of roubles for a ticket to a public palace and then giving away extremely discounted tickets through unions and such.
Yes, maintaining palaces costs oceans of money, and it was a good thing that they were maintained on the people's dime and accessible to everyone, rather than maintained on the people's dime (again) but owned by the nobles, or left to rot and ruin.
Highbrow culture will never be profitable by itself, but longterm investment in it is how you win WWII and the fucking space race.

The early and midcentury Soviet mass culture was hugely popular (and insanely profitable) - the system started failing to cater to people's interests mid-70s but was still profitable for another decade naturally, without covert subsidies and accounting tricks. The censorship was no more invasive than the Hays code, though it worked off different principles and excluded whole genres (horror movies, being superstitious nonsense, and disaster movies, being imperialist smears against the Soviet industry - a lot like modern China). The "oppressed" creative types Western libs love to whine about were subhuman trash the likes of Daniil Kharms (cue twitter fuckwits: "can you imagine it? they starved a *~children's writer~* to death! monsters!!!") - in truth, he was more islamic than the whole Animal Control subforum, publicly announced his intent to fight for the Nazis, got locked up in the madhouse for that and died there of hunger during the Siege of Leningrad.

3. Bum employment had nothing to do with propaganda. The perpetually booming Soviet industrial economy never had a job crisis, white-collar jobs were a privilege, and no bum could hope for anything other than hard labor on either side of the razor wire. And while the actual Soviet Union had massively privileged professional artists (e.g. the celebrity pair Magomayev and Sinyavskaya, who lived like royalty), the ideal artist, according to media portrayal, was an amateur who had a practical day job and performed in their spare time.

The problem with doing this is that required self aware and knowing that maybe you will agree with some parts and disagree with other, but in the end he is another person, maybe with shitty opinion but, who cares ?

Whenever I see cisgender people put their pronouns in their profile, I wonder what the actual motivation is. It's not as if they have any risk of being misgendered, so is it just to make their nonbinary friends feel comfortable?
