TAKING A BREAK FROM A PART OF WHO I AM
My name is Dennis J. Kovacs, I have been diagnosed with depression for the last 6 years, and throughout my time during the descent into the darkest peril of my mind, I have discovered something that the medical community calls a Hero Complex. I am by no means self-diagnosing myself with this “disorder”, I am simply implying the attributes are undeniably emulated by myself.
This is my is issue.

I’m crude. Unrefined. And this hurts a lot of people when I give them my opinion and or advice, because it doesn’t include some whip cream and coating of sugar, because I try to convey my honesty as straight forward as possible and this can become a problem. What does this have to do with the hero complex? Because I have a need, an obligation to help people, regardless of their standing with me and sometimes this leaks into their lives when they don’t want help.

A friend once told me “But doesn’t it feel flattering knowing people go to you? Like of all people, they say, “wow, I need to talk to Denny about this because he always knows what to say, and always says what needs to be said, even if seems harsh”, and I sit here wondering why I continuously choose to be everyone’s knight in faulty armor.

Well today I put that suit up in the closet and put my button up in front of it. I’m taking my leave. My discharge from what makes me such a friend to those who call me that word. Maybe I’ll have Frank Miller write my Return since he seems to do such a damn fine of it already. Maybe I’ll get some memorable quotes in that Graphic Novel.

That isn’t to say I’ll stop being a friend to everyone, I’ll be there to comfort them in their time of need but I’ll refuse any type of advice or help with their issues, people need to take the reigns, I can’t always feel obligated to fix everyone who is broken.

ME AND YOUTUBE: A DEBACLE
I get asked from time to time why I don’t do YouTube, why I stopped YouTube, why my fiasco as creator is in fact a fiasco. So here are the answers to these questions, along with my goals for youtube should I ever get around to it.

Why Don’t You Do YouTube?

You ever watch videos of new and upcoming YouTubers and the quality of their videos is mediocre at best? They don’t have a good, solid, and clear mic and their editing is on par with that of a handless person doing everything with their elbows?

I come across this all the time. I’m extremely critical of other people’s work, and what goes hand in hand with that? Being extremely critical of myself. My standards are out of my grasp and that’s essentially why I don’t do YouTube. If my videos aren’t up to say Westie’s videos, than I see no point in making them. This also has to do with the fact that I am poor, and lack the necessary equipment to make great videos. My total start up cost(yes, I did the math) would be around $1200.

I have $120

So that’s why I don’t do YouTube.

Why Did You Stop YouTube?

Along with the quality lacking videos that I made, I am also a very lazy person. I only do things when asked of me, or when I feel a moment of spontaneous motivation. It’s funny because I have a whole folder with lots of commentaries and concepts for series and videos to do, yet I have never decided to act upon them. Hell, I’d rather hand them over to other people who could do them, ala song writer.

So to highlight my answer: I’m lazy and unmotivated to do youtube.

Goals For YouTube Should I Ever Start It…Again

[Taken from my commentary that was never recorded]…This channel will be focused on discussions, things that I find intriguing and in the future, Machinimas. I love gaming and I love talking about gaming and I see a lack of creators making videos that really ask and answer questions about specific topics within the most interactive industry there is. Topics like – What do you expect from so and so, and how would you do such and such if you were the developer. Along with that is brainstorming videos of concepts that I personally have for games.

So all in all, I would be doing concepts for games, discussions on hot topics, and things that I find intriguing. Plus maybe some machinimas here and there should I ever come to a standard of quality such as Dolce’s or TheTwoScotsmen’s.

HE ENTERS THE EMPTY ROOM
Long ago he was a hero. A man of honor, a man of faith, a man with a belief. Now? Now he was just a shadow of the man that once stood in the light of praise by the citizens of a corrupt city and the spotlights of its police department.

He enters the empty room. Burned to the ground when he ended that chapter of his life. The smell of memories turned to ash wreaked with unhappiness and depression, something that he struggled with his whole life, and now that he was back at this place he left so long ago, he felt a pit open up in his stomach and like salt on wounds, it stung. What caught his attention more than the pain he felt was the mask that lay tattered and scorched on the rotting oakwood floor. A primer black mask that sunk the hearts of criminals and crooked officials alike, it let him share his own fears with the rest of the world. In many dealings with the underside of the city he nobly protected, most would either end up in prison, turn from their illegal lifestyle, or in some cases…By committing suicide.
He wasn’t too concerned with the latter like most would, a hero is meant to save the idea of hope and install the idea that the innocent don’t have to be pushed around. He wasn’t there to save people from their own demons, how could he? He couldn’t even save himself.

That’s why he burned down everything he stood for, his home, his life, his symbol to the people of the dark city he once called home. But something brought him back. Something made him come back. Desperate times where upon the people he stood up for, but he couldn’t be tasked with revealing himself and being the white knight a District Attorney once was, who in his opinion should have died a hero instead of living long enough to see himself become the villain.

He picked up the only thing that kept his identity a secret. As he held the mask in his hands, he realized that it was time to make a return, and like all comebacks, it had to be strong and headline making so that in a way, it would act as a warning to those who looked to do harm to others.

He heard a creak. A rolling creak to be exact. He turned around to see a woman in a wheel chair staring at him.

“Welcome back Bruce.”

SO MANY PROJECTS, SO LITTLE RESOURCES
Throughout my life, I have been ambitious in my own endeavors sparked by a vast imagination that began from social isolation and a craving for heroism mixed in with depression.

I have about ten projects in the works as I type this. Not one has been remotely finished, and it’s because I lack resources and the trust to tell people about most of them. So lets build a bridge of trust, starting with an in-depth reveal of details about public yet vague projects I’ve mentioned before.
Elixia
In the not so distant future, mankind has developed the technologies to sustain life on the planets that we once looked upon in mystery. While humans may have colonized and separated from the world they once called home, the need for a unified defense system to keep possible exterior threats at bay has become potent. Introduce Elixia, an outer rim defense force that monitors and prepares for any extraterrestrial threats or contact. The universe and story of this project is still developing.
The Battle Hub
Working with previous fan now turned friend Joey Gallegos, the need for a central hub of Esports support and news is clear, and as I work to rally support and Joey works to develop a functioning site, we plan to make this our young lives trophy. Keeping independent but fueled by mutual partnerships, we hope to someday become the main hub for Battle in the Esports world. Still developing.
Xray Company
In a world of entertainment, me and my two best friends and brothers have decided its time to dip our hand at a collaboration project named after a pseudo military company I came up with when playing Battlefield 4. After talking with some friends, we’ve added two more people to the group project, and we soon hope to host a sort of podcast, stream, and YouTube channel dedicated to discussion, shenanigans, and just whatever we feel like doing. Still in the pre-planning stages.
The Harrier
I have what doctors call a hero complex. I have need to help and serve others for recognition, and as such, I have created my own character call the Harrier. Much like Batman, the Harrier is an orphan, but not by dead parents, by rich and neglectful ones. Coming out of depression, the Harrier is hero that is more psychological in his dealings, using manipulation, fear, and borderline sociopathic tendencies to accomplish what needs to be done. I’ve written a half novel of him. Still developing.
Star Wars: The Nova Wars
Fan-fiction has always been a great inspiration of story telling for me. I loved the universes people came up with inside other official ones, and it compelled me to create a Star Wars one called the Nova Wars. Like Elixia, the Nova Wars has a strong female lead who is named Nova Skywalker. Like her ancestors, she is cursed with a legendary yet infamous name that will decide whether she becomes a sith lord, or a jedi master. Half a chapter later, I’m still not planning on finishing it.

PLANS AND AMBITIONS TO EXTEND MY ONLINE PRESENCE AND ENJOYMENT
Once upon a time, there once was a dream of becoming independent of things I did not like to do. Now I plan to make that dream a reality, and here’s how.

I’ve always been infatuated with the idea of being well known, I.e. popular. Infamy was my first approach, but then I realized that I care too much about the opinions of others to lead a life of being hated. So instead I decided to make myself more useful, and become reliable and honest, because that’s what people like, right? And I’ll keep this route until it fails me.

So there’s room for some aggressive expansion. So lets go down the list of my plans and goals.

• Become relatively YouTube successful, as in have a small gathering of fans and friends who support me. I’m looking to have fun with it while i’ll also hoping to make it a hobby that turns me a few bucks. Nothing wrong with that, and I’m not goal tending for money.
• Get even more twitter famous! I’m hoping one day Twitter won’t give out and I can get to 1000 followers(THAT WOULD BE SHWEET)!
• Have a successful blog that makes me side money like YouTube while I enjoy writing my useless to other people opinion.
• Become a professional Game Journalist and keep working at MP1st. Simply because I like the community, I like the people I work with, and I love the experience of just writing about games and gaming all the time. I would love to one day be a professional at my dream job.
• Get a nice and awesome following on twitch who enjoy my streams. Don’t want to make money from this, because I want a hobby I don’t consider a job as well.

So those are my plans and ambitions. Yes, I want to make money and do things for the money, but unlike most people, I love mixing work and play together, and I would love to turn a hobby into a profession as I live my life on the road and on the internet. I don’t need to make my dreams come true from 9-5.

GAMERS WHO PURCHASE THE KINECTLESS XBOX ONE ARE MISSING OUT
When I first heard that an Xbox One didn’t come without a Kinect, I was skeptical. I thought the kinect was a gimmick, like most gamers still do, but I was wrong.
A lot of features that the kinect brings is crucial for ease of use and taking advantage of the Xbox One’s full potential, both in game and for basic navigation. It might sound silly to hear, but once you experience the Kinect and use it so often like I do, its hard to live without and I even regret not taking it with me when I travel to friends houses.
Voice Commands in my opinion are essential to using the Xbox One to capture moments, keep possible annoying features not annoying, and just navigating the One in general. For instance, in Battlefield 4 and break the line of metro? Start giggling like a school girl? But wait… You forgot to record it…and you haven’t died for the last 5 minutes, so what do you do? Nothing. You couldn’t say “Xbox, Snap Game DVR” or “Xbox Record That”, because you don’t have a kinect, which would have done what you said instead of you fumbling in the dashboard wondering where the hell the DVR app is, or wondering why you can’t record the last 5 minutes that had you breaking the line.

For those on the bench regardless, while you may never use the kinect for games focused on it, its a wonderful tool to have, and I assume eventually that Cortana, Microsoft’s A.I. helper, similar to Siri, will be inputted into the Xbox One, so it’ll improve ten fold.
BUT, I could be wrong in all of this in the fact that Microsoft could update the One to use the standard or your own headset to support voice commands. That would be sweet.

So who am I? Well, I’m Pie. Or Denny, or denzel, or denny, or Big D, or any of the nicknames that are clever that most of my girlfriends have given me. You may give me a nickname if you so please, but don’t expect me to accept you for who you are if it sucks.
None of you know me all that well, and that’s fine, later on i’ll write up a short, over exaggerated biography that tells the tale of a Game Gypsy, because after all, it’s a life of swag.
