This is literally the closest they can get to saying "Reviewbombing is okay only when we do it" without outright saying that exact sentence.
The Ion Fury guys are amazing. I was disappointed when Reeeee got their way, but this is even better. It looked like they secured the win, which meant their incessant complaints were heard, and then still refused to support the game while people actually playing the game were voicing how fed up they were. Reeeera has no excuses with this one. Their voices were heard and they are getting a big fuck you right to their face. To add insult to injury the devs are shit talking the site on their public discord. I hope this stuff becomes a trend.
Yeah, overall, this is way better than if they said no from the getgo. Yeah, people are still gonna be wary of Voidpoint now on the actual fans' side. But come on. ResetEra thought they had this in the bag, they JUST got done doing their whole "I still won't buy the game" routine, everything seemed wrapped up, time to shut it down because shit's starting to get a bit too toxic for the mods and snowflakes to handle.
Then BOOM, Voidpoint comes back out and goes "Nah we changed our mind, Ogay stays". Now there's a new thread, Era's attention span is stuck on Ion Fury and Voidpoint again, they're watching as the devs and fans ridicule them openly in the Discord server, they're having to repeat the "I still won't buy/will no longer plan on buying the game" routine of their programming, and now all of a sudden what was once "a totally innocent sprite nobody on Era cared about, we mean it guys, we're not mad about it", is now the sole representation of Voidpoint's attitude and completely overrides all the good shit they put into the game.
On a sidenote, I finally started playing it yesterday. It's fucking excellent. It doesn't pound my ass into the dirt like Blood: Fresh Supply does, but it's still challenging enough to be satisfying on normal and high difficulty. And I just love all the little references. The bigass Thy Flesh Consumed screen. Caco Bell. Worst National Bank and the Duke Nukem ATM. Finding every secret is rough but not insanely impossible, and the game tells you when you're about to leave an area how many are left to find so you can always backtrack and look for them until you're satisfied. I fucking loved all the aesthetics of it, including how everything in the first level seems to be at the top of a clusterfuck of buildings in this cyberpunk future city, high enough that you can see the clouds or fog(whichever it is)below if you look over the edges in some parts. Yet it doesn't FEEL like you're at the top of a series of buildings when you leave that edge. You go through a nightclub, down a street and see a doctor's office, a few food places. It actually looks and feels like you're down below, in the (normally) bustling city streets. They really nailed the aesthetic on it.
And that's just the first area, still on the second. Good stuff. ResetEra, you hoes mad. Stay mad.
