There's also on Era like there was on GAF an active group very opposed to leaks because it "ruins surprises" like E3/Direct/whatever announcements.

The last great GAF leaker, crazybuttocksonatrain, had to have admin protection from the mods (since they had the same rule about unsourced stuff and lots of his leaks were just image dumps or lists) and also posted in his near gibberish format because people were so relentless in trying to find out who he was. I imagine he was hiding his IP or the admins had made it invisible in some way for his account.

As for Schreier, I don't think he's telling the whole truth. Not only because he's mad about people using adblock, but during the glory days of Kotaku there was a whiteboard with the names of the people who got the most clicks that day. The split between "business department" and "editorial" is non-existant, unless game journalism went through a radical overhaul in the last few years. There are the many undeniable cases of payola. Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, fucking Gerstmanngate.
