all I know is that this will enhance me playing the game on its release date way more than anything CDPR has done so far. I'll play it cuz I'm into the aesthetic of it mostly, but if it turns out to be a buggy mess that sucks balls I'll be like: "damn, hate waiting on yet another patch to fix this shit. I know, I'll just spend that time reading up on how Reeee is losing its mind over it."

and the more they scream and howl, the funnier it'd be for me if the game turns out to be shit TBH - for them to be this bothered about a game that has had some warning signs about its development. like, either the game turns out to be great anyway, and I enjoy it while occasionally reading tranny tears or the game sucks ass and I enjoy reading tranny tears over a fucking fail game for maximum absurdity: sounds like a win-win to me!

It's getting to where I just skim through their walls of text. The combination of sheer misery and autism makes their posts such an incoherent mess, my brain can't take it.

Listen, if dressing up like Batman and calling yourself Catwoman gets you through this meme joke of a year, go for it. But I draw the line at making it everyone else's problem. It's December, Coronavirus is still a thing, and Cyberpunk drops in 3 days. People need something to get excited about, so of course they want to talk about an upcoming video game on what is supposed to be a 'video game forum.' ResetEra, "the most popular independent gaming forum on the internet as measured by traffic," and they are mad because normal people want to have a normal discussion.

Best case scenario: 95+ metacritic score, overwhelming financial success, game beloved by nearly everyone except delusional troons and their orbiters.
Likely scenario: 80+ metacritic score, overwhelming financial success (it is an aaa title after all), game having mixed reception by the mainstream gaming community for failing to live up to the hype (similar to what happened with Death Stranding).
In both these scenarios I'm expecting the troons to go nuclear on era, expecting several dozen bans in the various cyberpunk threads. Black Chamber especially is fucked, actually I'm expecting him to get banned before the game even releases. Possible but unlikely they might actually just ban Cyberpunk threads in general after the first week due to overwhelming troon screeching.
Another possible (but unlikely, imo) scenario is that the game bombs hard, 50-70 metacritic score and despised by gamers for just being another bad overhyped aaa game. In that scenario I don't expect much to happen era-wise. Cyberpunk threads will definitely stay unbanned because the vast majority of people will hate the game anyway.

yea, the way that it'd bomb would literally have to be another Fallout 76 scenario and CDPR might not be as perfect as their fanboys hype them up to be, but it takes a certain amount of speshulness to become that bad lmao.

my guess is your Likely scenario to be sure, since there's way too many journos like Schreier and other big companies that they cling onto too invested in making sure it doesn't get received as well as the Joker did in movies last year, for example, after the initial handwringing about it being a movie for incels turned out to be completely bullshit. that said, it won't be anywhere near enough to satisfy these folks, because the conversation won't ever be as deranged as they'd like and I, too, fully expect a meltdown of epic proportions by Reee.

I think this is a dead cert. They are already saying that after release day they're going to lock all the threads about it because solidarity or something.

As regards review scores, I'm thinking that it'll get shrieked at by the usual suspects because REEEEEEasons like twanzphobia and literally shooting BIPOC gangers marked as Animals. I'm thinking that Polygon in particular will mark it down to 6 or even 4 just because of that. They have already reeeee'd about its marketing being pandering to right wing gamer chuds so what do you expect. Oh, and people like Jim Sterling will ignore it studiously because MUH CRUNCH.

Other review scores? Probably high 80s to low 90s. Not as good as W3 though. User scores will be split between consoomers and fanboys giving it 10s, people with a brain who have actually played it will give it 8s and 9s depending on the level of bugs at the time, and then there'll be a load of 0s from people still salty about no third person. Probably a few 3s and 4s from SJWs who repeat the Resetera line about twanzphobia.

Another aspect in all this... Who even reads their "OTs"? The opening post ist mostly fluff and marketing bullshit. The threads are toxic and/or full of spoilers. People who want to play the game just do that: Play the fucking game. These official threads are just for spergs and don't matter. There won't be any reeducation of Gamer bigots because Kyuuji vomits a few lines into the OP.
