Counterpoint: None of this matters and anyone who still cares about the movie at this point is autistic

Some posters call out the automatic assumption that any criticism of TLJ makes one a Nazi at which point brave posters like Double 0 call them Nazis.

If anyone actually enjoys Life is Strange as actual entertainment, they’re probably fucking retarded or full of shit.

"Life is Strange" is the definition of a social justice game. Even the intro premise is fucking retarded on its face. Really? The school doesn't believe the girl protagonist about a school shooter being on the loose at school? In 2013 America? People believe this would happen? lol

The only way you can enjoy it is if you previously agree with every story element presented in the plot, and have no desire to question its lack of challenge. You blatantly only have the illusion of choice (just enough choice for the game to wokescold you, there is no "winning" or "losing"), the story is full of logical holes, and most of all it drags on and on, because it's more like a quicktime movie than a game. There is no real thinking or testing of skill involved.

Interactive Propaganda

I wish we could all just stop calling this shit "games". Games are fun and/or exciting. They're not games, at best they are advanced visual novels.

Life is Strange is just milquetoast teen drama made by french people trying to be topical. The puzzle solving with time powers is okay, being able to turn back time to make Chloe shoot herself is hilarious. It's no different from older FMV games.

Life is Strange [...] It's no different from older FMV games.
But it is different: a lot of those games were actually good. Life Is Strange makes time travel boring. The story is unbelievable, it's like, oh yeah if I could turn time back, I would just go about my life normally and not experiment too much. What a great use of time travel as the main plot device.

It's funny how they keep posting this image. They're trying to make it look like this is what pretty much ALL video game protagonists look like, but it's a poor argument for a few reasons:

First of all, it's OBVIOUSLY cherry-picked. If you can't think of just as many or MORE female characters than the amount you see here, you haven't been playing games for long. This would probably even be possible with actual BLACK characters, because they've been so common for such a long time now. Whoever made this image was deliberately steering around HUNDREDS of characters to make their point and entirely avoided any games with a cartoonish or anime-oriented style--which together probably make up over 50% of games.

It's also stupid because they actually treat these characters like they all look the same. They're really different looking with only a few paltry exceptions. Looking at that image and telling yourself there is no diversity or difference is like looking at two dozen black men or Asians and saying, "You all look the same".

But for Resetera, this image represents the gaming landscape, and they keep using it over and over again, like they've only played PS3 releases from the past ten years from seven different studios. You'd think they'd take a realistic view of the variety the game industry provides and just be happy for a while. But they don't want to be happy. They want to be angry so that they can complain and get MORE. And so they can validate their victim complex.

And, of course, a fair number of them would have voted for it without having had to have played it, just because TLOS Part 2 was designed for the Current Year culture wars. So it's a vote for 'the game everyone I hate supposedly hates', rather than the game they actually thought was the best.
Hell, half the time my GOTY isn't even a game that was released that year, but one I found after the fact and hadn't played yet.
For example, so far my game of the year is Forza Horizon 4, and that's going on 3 y/o.

They basically have, it's not really a diverse set of interests over there. They're an insular community of the same age* based around Nintendo and Sony exclusives more or less.

There's a few hardcore people over there who mostly transitioned from GAF and keep to the gaming threads and only talk about games and some of them do play darn near everything but it's not uncommon to find completely dead threads for pretty popular releases if they aren't Nintendo/Sony exclusives. It can be really hit or miss when you want to just look up some opinions on something and find there's like a two page thread for something that's in the top ten on Steam for example. GAF at one time was good for that because they'd have threads on literally everything, ERA is just so insular it's really quite useless in that regard.

This is the forum that was completely thrown out of sorts when Ghost Recon Wildlands was one of the biggest selling games of the year in 2017. They never had a single thread on it. And that happens regularly now, especially when they on purpose block out titles like Cyberpunk and can't fathom where the popularity is coming from. (Except the alt-right obviously.)

*I'd say a lot of people over there have aged out of gaming in a real sense but can't stop 24/7 posting and following gaming and have an opinion on everything but don't actually play much of anything except one or two titles a year like Last of Us or whatever. It's a weird version of the hobby.

You can easily make a better case for homogeneous “Strong POC women” in modern media.
