The murder of Terry in the pilot episode of the Shield is one of those "shock for shock sake" things in TV lore and legends that ended up being a double edged sword: it basically MADE the Shield, as far as making it watercooler talk after the pilot aired, especially after the piss poor promotional lead-up to the pilot (which had Reed Diamond front and center in them). There was ZERO buzz for The Shield until the pilot hit and it exploded online and made the show's rep and elevated Vic Mackey from generic rogue cop protagonist to something much more: the sort of Captain Sensible Villain Protagonist who you can't wait to see what he does next.
The downside is that it basically put a millstone around the show's neck as far as people wondering when Terry's death would come into play against Vic and while the show largely downplayed it until the last couple of seasons, it's to his credit that Shawn Ryan NEVER took the easy way out to retroactively make Terry a monster and justify what Vic did.
(Which is one of the reasons why the atrocious Low Winter Sun was critically and commercially panned: it was a badly written Shield rip-off that featured the lead killing a fellow cop in the pilot but then afterwards made a big song and dance to say it was justified and that the dead cop had done all sorts of evil shit to retroactively make the lead's actions OK. )
And to his credit, after spending the bulk of the run dancing around it, Ryan payed off Terry's death in the final couple of episodes of the show's run in a way that cemented Shield's place in the tv pantheon with one of the most soul gripping finales of the 00s.
That being said.....
The Shield is a show that you could never make nowadays and that's not talking about it's take on corrupt cops or how the show vacillates between condemning Vic and claiming he's a necessary evil. Or the whole "Julian prays the gay away" storyline done to appease the actor.
Also, it's a show that is along the same lines of Venture Brothers in that it was a big deal but managed to avoid a casual/normie take-over of the fandom, so that said fandom stayed clean and pure and avoiding the toxic elements of modern post-Eternal September 1999 internet fandomisms. Part of it was circumstances beyond it's control (the show was infamously blackballed from getting coverage on Television Without Pity due to the fact that said website famously hated FX and outside a couple of shows that got one or two seasons max covered, refused to actively cover the network's offerings) and also, due to the fact that it was opposite the Wire, which got all of the press and fawning praise, leaving Shield and it's fanbase to be protected from the sort of worst kind of normie/casual type fans which corrupt and pervert fandoms.
That said, it's biggest footprint on fandom was the way that Ronnie Gardocki (a minor character in the show's run) became so popular within the show's fandom. To the point that he basically was a sort of prototype for what happened to Derpy Hooves in MLP FiM fandom in terms of becoming super popular within the show's fanbase.

The last week or two, Chrome on mobile has dropped a new "feature" where instead of automatically pulling up recent links in your web address bar from your history, it pulls up search terms related to the website you're on. So now every time I'm on era and about to type in a new website i get...www.resetera.com

If you ever see the polls they run, 70% of users seem to be normies with normal opinions. The 30% of hall monitors dominates discourse but sometimes the normal people do speak up and post.

Of course they do. They think the site isn't moderated enough, that transphobia and fascism are in every other post, that there's a vast alt-right contingent on the boards, some posting openly, most in hiding like sleeper agents. I mean, these are people who might have seen an opinion they don't 100% agree with by being on ResetEra. Of course it's one of the most toxic places on the internet!
There will also be users who know they're on a toxic site but it's at acceptable levels and not pointed at them, so they haven't gotten as far as quitting their internet home for good yet. But unlike the other type of person who agrees, when they hit their limit they're not going to make a massive post about all the racism and transphobia that they've forced to endure, they're just going to ... stop visiting the site. And they outnumber the REEEEEEEEing assholes as well, so their disappearance will hurt the site more. But why pay attention to falling numbers when you're absolutely certain there's hidden Nazis in your club-house and you just have to have more and more struggle sessions until finally you have a posting utopia?

In the case of MS and SkyDrive/OneDrive that actually happens or at least used to happen. Maybe not exactly that scenario, but incorrect things gets flagged, sent to manual review but according to them it's usually just ordinary family pictures so no action is taken against the user whose identity have been masked for privacy reasons during this process.

Yet. And we've only got their word on that, so this is basically "source: dude trust me lmao." This is the proverbial "camel's nose in the tent." They're giving themselves permission (through some sneaky click-through EULA/consent update, I'm sure) to literally inspect and search your property for material they don't like. The method they use to conduct that search and the scope of what they search for is subject to change without notice, and that change will be for the worse (nobody with this kind of power has ever willingly given any of it up). There's also no way to opt-out of this except to discontinue your use of the device entirely and destroy it.
They're openly cooperating with the government to do this, which means they will happily report you to the authorities if they find a match (even if they're wrong). You likely have no recourse for this. It also means they can be pressured at any time by very powerful people to expand the scope of their searches. Today it's images and videos on the device, looking for child pornography. Tomorrow it could be "the whole device, all data types, and all comms in and out over all available interfaces" for "indications of membership in far-right extremist organizations" or perhaps "indications of anti-covid vaccination propaganda." Who defines those "indications?" It ain't us, that's for sure.
Even assuming they're telling the truth and they really are just using perceptual hashing (or something similar) to match against a database of known images and videos, there's no public oversight of the process, the algorithm they're using or the database they're matching against. There's no way to challenge any of the contents of that database or even review any of it under any circumstances. What's our guarantee that the database is absolutely 100% accurate, has no miscategorized content whatsoever that shouldn't be in it, and never has false positives? Nothing besides "dude trust me lmao." What's our guarantee that the scanning process never has false positives? "Dude trust me lmao." Even daring to ask those questions means risking being branded a pedophile and/or being harassed by investigators.
What possible protection against false positives can anyone ever hope to have with this system and the consequences of being falsely accused of possession of CP? None at all unless they can afford a good lawyer.
Rights erosion like this always begins with a claim that they're only targeting the most reprehensible thing imaginable and have purely good intentions, so that opposing it makes you look like you're pro- whatever-they're-after. It's much easier to avoid criticism and legitimate opposition if they can just call you a pedophile for being upset about this. If the government was directly doing this itself, it'd be illegal (at least in theory). A private corporation doing it though (even at the behest of the government) skirts around that pesky Bill of Rights nicely, though. It ain't fruit of the poisonous tree if it comes from a private entity, after all. Incidentally, this is the same technique used to justify attempts to ban or otherwise censor "hate speech." It's just as stupid there, too.
I'm still astonished they don't use those polls as honeypots to catch and ban "non-conformant" users. Or maybe they do use it to catch them, but just quietly "annotate" their accounts so they can justify a later ban when they offend a tranny mod somehow.
And a good chunk of that 10% is bots. I've seen estimates in the market research industry that less than 1% of all traffic on Twitter contains any potentially meaningful content at all and it's all skewed so hard to the far left that it's utterly useless for sentiment analysis or any other kind of market research. Twitter users are about as valuable as reddit users -- not valuable at all.

Even if the Clarkson's Farm series failed in every other regard (which it did not) it still gives the best summary of Twitter, “Twitter now is just an opportunity for very left-wing people to express increasingly left-wing views to other left-wing people.” I suspect for that alone it will never feature on Reeee.

They stated there was a technical limitation on seeing who voted what on a poll beyond the count. This came up during the whole Cyberpunk thing, when every poll about calling the game transphobic had over 70% of votes going to 'lol no'. People wanted the forums to be upgraded so it would show the usernames of who voted on what publicly. There was a sold no to that from whoever is running the show these days.

Even if the list isn't public, I'm sure it exists. I don't know the limitations of their forum and administrators, but if they are able to view who votes, they will. They'll share it in private groups and use it as justification for future bans and gatekeeping inner circles.

Then page 2 more evidence proving it was "dinger" comes out and 99% of the thread just devolves into discussing pronunciation with occasional drive-by outrage posts because both the lazy jannies and idiot OP refused to update the thread (at one point the title was changed to something like "racist fan yells dinger" or the like apparently).
That said this is Era so there were a few brave souls still willing to try and crucify a guy for trying to get a mascot to take pictures with his grandkids.
