gave them strawberries and celery today. happy to announce that they ate all the celery, even the leafy bits :) looks like they're on track to eating healthy on a regular basis! they warmed up in the sun after i fed them and it was nice to just sit and have a moment of calm (except for some of them that like to be dicks to the others of course)
muscovy is also back and living her best life!
the poop i saw looked normal too which is good, i was worried since they had eaten some pumpkin + deshelled sunflower seeds a few days back.

also, when we started to walk back to the car, they followed us a little bit which was funny. thankfully they have their boundary line which they don't really go past to the rest of the park.

today my two favorite babies came up to see me 🥺 they've started getting along with each other (though with a bit of gentle banter)

we fed them celery and grapes today. muscovy and stan boy were comfortable enough to eat it straight from the container when i handed it to them.
stan boy does this really funny thing where he jiggles his beak in the thing of celery and makes a huge mess. i have a video but it has my voice in it so i should crop it or put the chocobo theme over it
none of his brothers did it so he's just a weird little fella. the other ducks weren't comfortable enough with me to get close enough to the container, which means i've built up a sense of trust with these two. feels real nice :)

forgot to post an update because i didn't have good pics but i visited them at night! muscovy has an earlier bedtime so she was asleep but the brown girl and the rest of the gang came to say hi.
the pond had steam/mist coming up from it and it looked really cool, but the pics i took are too wide and have dox potential so i won't show them. was cool though

Have you considered feeding the ducks peas?

The store brand canned peas come with a pull tab now, so we keep a couple of cans in the back of the car in case there's an emergent duck feeding opportunity. It's messier than feeding them frozen peas, but at least we don't have to face the ducks empty-handed.

Cracked corn is super cheap if you buy 20 pounds and refill a zip-top bag to bring with you.

I have memories of being completely surrounded by an ocean of hungry ducks as a small child at the park. When they get excited and start biting, it's like someone clapping two plastic spoons on either side of your hand. And then the swans come over.
