New Media Processor is Running

Is the volume slider missing for anyone else?
I really do not like the new video front-end. It takes up too much space on the video and blocks a good portion of it. I also think that it can only be enjoyed by mobile fags. I enjoyed the previous video front-end.
For something that is Liquid Glass, it is Liquid Ass for me.

This post in the Tarl thread shows the gui taking up most of the bottom part which obstructs his body, leaving only his face.

Even without Dark Reader enabled the player functions way worse than the previous iteration in my browser. It's clunkier, the CSS doesn't line up properly,
I'm seeing similar issues to what these people reported -- CSS layout issues, no volume slider, the control captions are overlaying each other on the left side, the control box obscures a lot of the video and doesn't go away when I click play. The earlier version from a few days ago was definitely working (and looking) better.

Also the control box is usually extending way out from the body of the video because of the captions.

There doesn't appear to be any discussion of patents, I hope you weren't lured into a false sense of security on the patent question. MPEG-LA does not litigate over file sharing, however the use case here appears to my eye to be something that they would litigate if you are in violation of any AVC or HEVC patents.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok

Manufacturers (nvidia in this case) usually pay a per-device patent licensing fee for hardware codecs (that's why e. g. Fedora allows hardware codecs but rips out the normal software implementation), though I'm unsure how that play out if you're hosting a website. And didn't the patent trolls announce they had a pool for AV1 as well?

I love that the color changes with the site theme.

One comment. I've said for a while that the simple 'right click-->save video as' is the single best and most civilized thing about the site. It is idiot-proof, a blatant rejection of functions that make it difficult to save and share media and you will not see it anywhere else. I think it's symbolic of the farms' ethos and I'd be sad to lose it.

This is perfect, everything I was tweaking has been fixed and I can turn it off, thanks.

An "Open in new tab" option would be nice, or control/middle clicking the copy entry. And/or a download button or just make it an <a> tag "Direct video link" so you get this automatically.

"Copy link to media" is easily confused with the video URL, it's not obvious this means the forum post.

And the black behind the video controls should be less transparent. And should be white for light mode niggers if you care about that.

I know the player's still being fucked around with, but when it works, it seems to work pretty well.

One thing I am curious about: Is the plan to eventually make this new player and encoder retroactively process/convert videos on older posts as well? I know there are a few threads with long and poorly encoded videos that would really benefit from this.
