Feedback "new users" paradox

In summary:
  • No other long posts of mine were removed and no one who is a mod told me to make them shorter
  • No long time "famous" users with lots of posts seem to care in the first place to take a strong stance either way
  • It was emphasized by multiple people: if you think a post is too long fucking report it and mods will remove it or sanction da user.
  • A post being long or shorter doesn't generally seem to have much impact on its reach or interest level (at least judging by ratings). It seems the newsworthiness/interest of the story itself is the determining factor
  • The most vocal people seem to be people with very few posts and/or are relatively new users (probably zoomers who use mobile phones)
Outcome: Longposts technically win. It is better that there is a post about something in the first place instead of there being no post.
Lol :story: he was acting this zesty even back then.

I used to write long ass community happenings post. The reason why I stopped doing that is because Null clarified how a post should be structured in that thread around that time. I didn't get any complaints before, so I didn't know I was doing it wrong, until I read his post noting that others were complaining to him about the length of the posts. I don't know why that didn't stop this nigga though.

By the way. "Name-brand-name kiwifarmer"?

Come on, now. Get a grip :story:

GG I got thread banned from the community happenings thread.

I eagerly await higher quality users to take up the mantle - the same users who are being told to stop using GIFs.

Sorry if my community updates harmed anyone and sorry for making posts that reek of effort (as someone once said).
Niggers tongue your anus.

Ah yes, the good old "arrogant oldfags" vs "le newfag trolls" conflict, my favorite episode. Every single internet forum has one of these, now I'm feeling nostalgic.

Learn to write more useful and informative posts, @neger psykolog. The faggy reddit quips are annoying. You know how to document shit, put that to good use - but be more humble, you're far from perfect. Also, learn to ignore join dates, that means nothing. I'm an older user than you and my post count is abysmal for such an old account, does that mean I'm shitting the place? Am I a super contributor, writting legendary threads? Am I useless? Who cares!

Don't take the internet too seriously, man, it's fucking up your brain. Take a vacation for a while and change some habits. Otherwise, DSP will outlast you too.

I can't imagine a user I want to see get banned more than you. Shame it was just community happenings.

Neger posted in CF and got roasted for it. Then got defensive

A community happening should ideally be a hook and the actual thread the meat. Brevity can be hard, I know I can be to a tad verbose but that post was 80% filler and editorializing
It appears that the alleged drug cartel that possibly sponsors or funds the "The Square Hut",an extreme Ukraine fishtank style livestream, is in conflict with the Ukrainian police.

That's the gist of the happening and by all means add some flavor and flair but be fucking reasonable man.
Scapegoating newfags is hilarious since you're ignoring the point of the holy doctrine of lurk moar. The point is to see the decorum of the forum and to learn how to act, if you took the time to look at the other post in the thread you'd see how out of place yours was. Sure there's plenty of long effort post but they at least 90% information on the happening and not redundant editorializing.
Just take it on the chin dude, we're all just randos on a niche internet forum. Getting pissy over criticism of your post does nothing but make you look like a bitch.

"New users don't appreciate my effortposts!"
"Please, for the love of God, put a bit more effort into your Community Happenings posts."

*fucking explodes*
I enjoy writing and reading long posts, but the problem with Neger's posts, especially those on CH is that they are barely readable stream-of-consciousness babble. Words have meaning, and you can't pick and choose which elements of the definition of "effortposting" you want to apply and which to ignore, at least if you want to indulge in the slightly embarrassing act of labeling your own posts as "effortposts". Making your shit readable and engaging is as important as properly documenting yourself.

I started out trying to take this forum seriously, which is why I rarely make threads since I want each one to be pretty good, but by now I've seen several much older users lose their fucking minds and get their own threads here, so I've decided I was giving this forum unwarranted seriousness.
