Millennial congresswomen, they’re just like us. No, really, this one is.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the democratic socialist and youngest woman ever elected to Congress, can’t afford to rent an apartment in Washington, D.C. before her job starts in January.

“I have three months without a salary before I’m a member of Congress. So, how do I get an apartment?” Ocasio-Cortez, 29, told the New York Times. “We’re kind of just dealing with the logistics of it day by day, but I’ve really been just kind of squirreling away and then hoping that gets me to January.”

Ocasio-Cortez shocked the country when she secured a primary victory over New York Rep. Joe Crowley, the 10-term incumbent who was widely believed to be the most powerful Democrat in the House after Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Before she turned to politics, Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender.

Now she’s telling voters not to worry about her housing situation.

“There are many little ways in which our electoral system isn’t even designed (nor prepared) for working-class people to lead,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “This is one of them (don’t worry btw - we’re working it out!)”

Ocasio-Cortez is widely viewed as an up-and-coming star in the Democratic Party in the wake of her surprise win, fueled in part by her leftist policy ideas, which more closely align with millennial voters than her future congressional colleagues. She believes, for example, in single-payer healthcare and has suggested taxing Wall Street to fully fund public universities. She also supports “clean campaign finance,” and has said she will not accept corporate donations.

I’m more upset this average american citizen who’s not even filthy rich thinks she deserves a voice in our government.

It's not a matter of her not being filthy rich, it's a matter of her not having the financial resources to support herself for a few months despite being a 29-year-old with an economics degree.

We need a Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez salt thread for all the A&H cucks mad a SJW social democratic spic got elected in fucking far-left Queens of all places.

I ain't even mad.

I'm downright giddy that a nitwit sabotaged a powerful and competent Democrat, and she's now the official dunce cap of the DNC.

I couldn't be happier about the situation.

If she did a GoFundMe, I'd donate to it. I want her around embarrassing the Democrats for a good long time.

I'll buy that for a dollar!

Because she’s struggling to afford to live where the job is, regardless of the fact that she’s both qualified for the job and already got it. That’s a burden.

How is this whiner paying for her current place in what I assume is the Bronx? Yes, the DC metro area is expensive, but it's not more expensive than the NYC metro area. It's not like O-C is moving from Bumfuck, Indiana, to DC.

She's still far better off than she was when she was a bartender in New York City. I assure you, the rent is too damned high there too.

Don't even pretend like this is a sacrifice for her. That's just silly.

The place she’s struggling to get to. i.e. the place she isn’t at yet, yet alone leaving.
What struggle? She keeps saying she's working class when she's not. A millennial living a hipster lifestyle doesn't make you working class.

She's whining about shit because planning more than 10 seconds in advance is far too complicated for her.

She was already struggling to survive as a beer pourer, as evidenced by the fact that's she's 29, and piss potless. Three months from now, she's going to be struggling a lot less on her big girl salary.

She will be less struggling. A burden would be more struggling. This is not a burden.

When are righties going to make up their minds? First she's piss poor then she's rich. You can't have it both ways.

She's piss poor now, but once she starts her new job, she will be rich(at least by her own socialist standards).

I'm sorry, I just can't dumb it down any more for you than that.

Maybe her parents just cut her off because she's a big girl now.
Maybe if you used a source it would help instead of "my feels".

Food: 500
Rent: 1200
Collectible Carl Marx figurines: 3600
Utility: 120
somebody who is good at the economy, please help me budget this. I can't move to DC to work my senator job.
I ate for a month in 2017 on $50. Of course that was largely ramen and canned beans, so take that as you will. Peasant food, not for Glorious Party Leader.

The amount of times I see relatively well off people unable to manage their finance or think outside the box when it comes to food or housing is frankly staggering. Yes, this is anecdotal, but I see this move as entirely a pity cry for attention.

A quick google search tells me that a hostel is ~22$ a night in Washington DC. Which is just about 670 dollars a month, which is just over 2 grand for the three months that you'd have to slum it there. I freaking guarantee there are cheaper but not as-nice options

If I know anything, modern american socialists reside in expensive coffee shops and refuse to cook anything that isn't delivered by a meal service with instructions.

The source is O-C's whining about having no moneys because bad white men and the publicly known Congressional salary that she will be receiving.

I don't have access to this bitch's bank account, and I personally don't believe that she is "poor" or will be "rich" (in DC and NYC, a professional salary of under $200K is not getting anyone into the upper echelons of society; it will at most get you a townhouse in an about-to-be-gentrified area of MD or NJ). But there are plenty of interviews with her where she exposes herself as clueless, entitled and full of shit. Would those suffice? You can find them on Youtube.
