So I've been playing since I watched the anime. Got 28 hours in, got through endings A and B. Love this game. Has a massive story with layers. Each run you're constantly finding out bits and pieces more about the world and characters. Love the cast. Jackass is a favorite.

Even the machines are cool and funny. Its kinda like if Battle Droids from Star Wars made a civilization. And I love their designs. At first they look kinda goofy, but then you start fighting, and then it feels like, yeah these guys are actually killer robots. But also ones that can feel, or at least try to. The B route with 9S going through and really digging into what makes them tick was insightful and a little harrowing even.

Also 9S, my boy, he has it fucking rough. His girl 2B (which also kills him a lot) gets shanked in front of him. He gets mind raped by Adam with one of the most wild lines that intentionally bleeps out what 9S wants to do to 2B. Left me shook.

The combat is really solid. Platinum Games clearly ripped some Bayonetta DNA in making the combat mechanics, but cooled it down, way less crazy, more fun. The game balance is perfect. Only thing I dislike is hacking, it just kinda sucks.

Nor done yet, still got a long way to go. But until then, GLORY TO MANKIND!

The team lead behind it was brought onto Nier:A.

Ah. I knew it felt familiar lol.

Nier is on my list. I've read the thread and heard good things about it. I've just been happy to play a modern (2017) game that knows what it is, what it's doing, and has fun doing it. I really have been digging the story, so if Nier is better, awesome. The lore is really the highlight of the series for me. I'll be happy to see more.

well you know... The ps3 emulator can run drakengard 3 above its intended fps of 10 now.
Probably just watch someone elses playthrough of drakengard 1. (unless the rumored upcoming yoko taro game announcement is a drakengard 1 remake)

I beat Nier Automata yesterday. Got through all the main endings. Wow, just wow. A somber yet somewhat hopeful ending. I liked ending E where you basically have to connect to the network to win. You can't do it alone, you never could.

I'm still processing what exactly happened. It was a fun wild ride. I haven't been hit by a story that hard since Halo 2. I don't think it's perfect, but for the money I spent, it was well worth it. I think it was one of the most human stories I've played in gaming.

In any case, waiting for a sale on Nier Replicant. I can't wait to see the start of the Nier saga.

There was a gacha called Nier Reincarnation that had some characters from Automata at launch, but it shut down five months ago. I tried to play enough of it to specifically see the Automata content when it came out but it did not play nice with Bluestacks so I gave up and never bothered.

I mean I am watching the anime, so I guess I'll see. It has felt like a build up for a second game. The main change was that Anemoe died and not Lilly in the pearl harbor decent from everything ive watched and read from the game and manga, spurring on the timeline change.

That's mainly because Yoko Taro wanted to make alot more changes and square enix said people would hate the anime if it deviated too much

Well I feel it has been a good balance so far of new stuff and game moments. I guess I have this opinion because I know that a game announcement or something is coming at the end. As long as the ending isn't completely gay and still has that written by a madman feel, I'll be satisfied.

I'm willing to bet that the anime ending will be much more nihilistic than ending E.

It'll probably involve the time travelers since that plot point is completely unresolved.

I am currently hate-playing this game. 9S is so annoying, and my hate for him (them???) only intensifies whenever I try to pick up an item and it instead opens up his options menu for me. I also just defeated the skirt robot thing in the carnival area and the battle was annoying.
