Nintendo Switch 2 - For the Soytendo consoomers to speculate about the successor to the Switch, recently announced for 2025.

Basically, any platformer that has a title begining with "Super Mario" with the exceptions of Yoshi’s Island, Wario Land 1, and Super Mario Run (and the Maker games are arguably more sandbox than platformer so they don't really count either, and I also don't count things like remakes and compilations. I also consider Super Paper Mario to be part of the RPG series but the RPGs feel like honarary members of the main series to me, with the exception of the last 3 Paper Mario games. My headcanon is that the book world from Paper Jam only contained everything from Sticker Star onward and that the first 3 Paper Mario games took place in the regular Mario continuity).
I largely agree. I still think SMM2 can go either way, but the rest is spot-on.

How do nintendo collecters even view these things? They must know it's basically a download code in a plastic shell right? At this point how many third party games even use real carts. Cyberpunk is the only one that comes to mind at the moment.
They hate them, of course. I mean, did you even have to ask?

I wonder how many Trump voting Nintendo fans there are in the US.

They will never admit that their own vote directly caused the price of Switch consoles and accessories to increase.
My brother in Christ, we're talking about a company that's selling a 10 year old Nvidia SOC for a premium sticker price and has never once lowered the cost for it. The same company that also charged $70 for cardboard in 2018 ,selling an alarm clock for over $100, practices Disney Vault marketing with their Mario 3D All Stars bundle, use to price tax 3rd party devs with $20 per cartridge production in the NES/SNES/N64 days, promotes artificial scarcity to drive up demand, responded to monopoly accusations in 1990 with $5 rebates that came with Nintendo games...to buy more nintendo games. This list can go on and on with how greedy as fuck Nintendo acts. The fact that you're simping for Nintendo is beyond crazy.

With how World and Bananza turned out, I don't think you can even depend on first party titles to sell the console anymore, they're both mediocre. Nintendo is losing it's touch, lack of competition is really going to their heads. They need another Wii U moment to humble them.
The idea that another huge failure like the Wii U would make Nintendo into a better company is dumb.

You know what would ACTUALLY happen if the Switch 2 failed? Nintendo would start putting more resources into their crappy gacha-filled mobile games and put less effort into their console games. Genshin Impact has made $15 billion in microtransactions; the mobile market can be extremely lucrative and has much lower development costs. The failure of the Wii U is the main reason why Nintendo started making mobile games in the first place.

Also, a failing Nintendo would focus even more on their biggest franchises like Mario/Zelda/Pokemon/Animal Crossing. You won’t get any more Metroid, Star Fox, F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Golden Sun, etc. if they are failing.

That would simply lead to a failure spiral, where they would continue to make more and more bad decisions, and therefore, keep losing money. Fine by me I say, their games have been crap and their entire MO has been to circle drain for years now. Not much is going to change.

These jap fucks better not renege on their promise to release Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 1. They already announced it for S1 for years, you can't take it back! Prime 4 is going to probably be the last hoorah for a new game on my S1.
I literally only bought a Switch for the "promise" of Prime 4. I'm one of the guys whose been waiting since the Prime 3 Sylux cameo days. I think Goytendo wants to recoup costs from 4's hell development, so it releasing on two consoles is a safe bet. I'm just worried about the blue-hairs who worked on it, the mid-as-fuck planet name (View-ros??), and the suit designs.

Speaking of suits, I'm hoping that at long last we can finally move on from the Other Meh ZSS design. It's been 15 years, time for some new shit...

The Dread suit needs to be the new standard because that thing is sexy as fuck

That’s why I’ve not yet got a Switch 2. After getting the U on the promise of Zelda and waiting till the next console for that game to come buying Nintendo consoles until they release one on it.

If it were up to me I’d strip the suit completely and have all the power ups lead to a new fully functioning suit.

Honestly, I’d rather prefer that rather than whatever design we get that no doubt will be influenced by “modern audience” trends, especially given how Retro Studios is located in Austin Texas.

I don't really get the panic around potential delays when they said literally yesterday that prime 4 and air riders are both still on track for 2025 releases. You hoping a game with only "2025" as an official release date ends up being August 2025 when it actually releases in November 2025 isn't a delay.

I've always favored the Fusion suit, looked great in Metroid Prime if you got the gba link bonuses.
It was cool on the GBA but I don't think it translated to 3d very well. The varia suit version especially just looks awful. Like rotten mozzarella cheese.

Despite kinda disliking Samus Returns (AM2R was way better) their version of the gravity suit fucking rules.

I assume the Switch 1 version is because the Devs were told they couldn’t but it fully on the Switch 2.
Octopath 0 is getting released on everything at the same time, it's the Gatcha Mobile game remade as a traditional RPG, it's essentially an asset recycle.

Octopath Traveler is one of my favorite series, but I could never stand the Mobile game, so I'm mostly on board for it though. They are only charging $50 for it, they are putting in the work to make it fully voice acted. If nothing else I hope it makes enough money to convince Square to make Octopath 3.
