These jap fucks better not renege on their promise to release Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 1. They already announced it for S1 for years, you can't take it back! Prime 4 is going to probably be the last hoorah for a new game on my S1.
I literally only bought a Switch for the "promise" of Prime 4. I'm one of the guys whose been waiting since the Prime 3 Sylux cameo days. I think Goytendo wants to recoup costs from 4's hell development, so it releasing on two consoles is a safe bet. I'm just worried about the blue-hairs who worked on it, the mid-as-fuck planet name (View-ros??), and the suit designs.

Speaking of suits, I'm hoping that at long last we can finally move on from the Other Meh ZSS design. It's been 15 years, time for some new shit...

The Dread suit needs to be the new standard because that thing is sexy as fuck

That’s why I’ve not yet got a Switch 2. After getting the U on the promise of Zelda and waiting till the next console for that game to come buying Nintendo consoles until they release one on it.

If it were up to me I’d strip the suit completely and have all the power ups lead to a new fully functioning suit.

Honestly, I’d rather prefer that rather than whatever design we get that no doubt will be influenced by “modern audience” trends, especially given how Retro Studios is located in Austin Texas.

I don't really get the panic around potential delays when they said literally yesterday that prime 4 and air riders are both still on track for 2025 releases. You hoping a game with only "2025" as an official release date ends up being August 2025 when it actually releases in November 2025 isn't a delay.

I've always favored the Fusion suit, looked great in Metroid Prime if you got the gba link bonuses.
It was cool on the GBA but I don't think it translated to 3d very well. The varia suit version especially just looks awful. Like rotten mozzarella cheese.

Despite kinda disliking Samus Returns (AM2R was way better) their version of the gravity suit fucking rules.

I assume the Switch 1 version is because the Devs were told they couldn’t but it fully on the Switch 2.
Octopath 0 is getting released on everything at the same time, it's the Gatcha Mobile game remade as a traditional RPG, it's essentially an asset recycle.

Octopath Traveler is one of my favorite series, but I could never stand the Mobile game, so I'm mostly on board for it though. They are only charging $50 for it, they are putting in the work to make it fully voice acted. If nothing else I hope it makes enough money to convince Square to make Octopath 3.

@SSj_Ness (Yiffed) and @whatever I feel like

Mainline Mario, according to Nintendo, goes as follows:

Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA and Lost Levels), Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy, NSB Wii, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

This was all outlined back in the 25th anniversary booklet for the rerelease of Super Mario All-Stars on Wii.

From there, we can assume Super Mario 3D Land, NSB2, NSBU, Super Mario 3D World, Odyssey and Wonder are mainline. More evidence for the 3D given by below leading into Odyssey.

The timeline for the 25th does make note of remakes for GBA and DS, so would also assume Bowser’s Fury is also a mainline, but everything else is not. Yoshi, DK, Toad and others are all excluded from the timeline along with Land.

That sounds bad, gachas are not built for standard RPG experience and their plot usually meander a lot, doesn't help it's a failed gacha..

Modern SE would just tack on an ending after the gacha part and call it a day.

Sure they can! Not saying they will, but it's always on the table. Though I suppose one silver lining to the price hike on the OG Switch might be because they anticipate a boost in sales figures for it once Prime 4 drops, suggesting they're still planning to release it on S1.

I had the same initial apprehension, and I'm still not completely sold, but I'm hopeful for it.

For one, the Octopath community says the story is very good, has for a long time. The only reason I tried to pick up the Gatcha again after Octopath 2 was the word of mouth.

The other is that there seems to be effort going into it, adding full voice over, adding a town rebuilding mechanic, two new weapons to flesh out the 8 character party from the Gatcha, and 30 characters to choose with VO rather than just a set party of 8.

I'm a huge fan of Octopath, and the 2D-HD line of games generally, so I'm definitely going to get it. I'd be more apprehensive if they were going for the new $70-80 full price, but for $50 I am doubting I'll have regrets.

I see, so the NSMB games do count, as expected.

Yeah, and given that Nintendo clarified DS and Wii back then, I think it’s safe to assume all 4 entries are in the mainline series.

Thanks to Odyssey, we also got confirmation of 3D Land + World also being mainline.

All that is left that is up-in-the-air is Wonder and Bowser’s Fury. It is Mario’s 40th, so maybe they will finally give a definitive answer on those two, though I would assume both are.

I'm just disappointed Land 1 & 2 aren't, really, though of course I know it doesn't actually matter anyway.
