The thumbpad of my 3DS were always the first to disintegrate.
jesus christ you must grip hard as hell cuz that's not normal.
joycon drift on the other hand :(
you know how they offer free repairs for joycons? over the years i've sent several joycons (i have 4) to them, and they did fix them, but they always started drifting again. that is...up until this year, when they started sending my joycons back UNFIXED, or even more defective than before. what a joke. i theorize that the results vary based on which repair shop your joycons get sent to when they give you a label, and frustratingly you cannot choose different repair shops so i've been stuck with the same shitty one 3 or 4 times in a row this year

Well, the 2DS XL is exactly ergonomic (but then again, a LOT of their hamdhelds never were comfortable to hold). And it doesn't really have the same range of motion that I'm used with console controllers when I'm playing Zelda or Smash. So it eventually just gets partially locked in a specific position. I've literally just left my last one alone for a few months and the rubber just went from being mostly intact to just crumbling apart.

My DS Lites never really lasted 2 years. The thumbpad of my 3DS were always the first to disintegrate. JoyCon drift. One or two of my cubes burned out after several years.
my friend had a ds lite, the top screen only worked if you bent it back all the way and you had to blow under the right trigger constantly for it to work. lites had really shit build quality.

Yeah, for me, as soon as an very specific part of the hinge breaks off, the top screen just started dying a few months later. It's weird, I never had that problem with anything else.

seems like this is more so a problem that men have (with their massive hands lol)

Yeah...my original 3ds somehow got the top screen broken and now you have to hold it at a veeery precise angle while playing or else the screen's brightness decreases dramatically. fortunately my new 3ds has not had that problem and it still works great after like 1000 hours of use. I have a second new 3ds with less playtime but so far no issues either

Elaborated on this in the pokemon thread but Nintendo are charging 70 usd for Pokopia (80 usd approximately in japan)
Cross post from the switch 2 thread but nintendo just showed some info about poketopia

no archive link since archive.today is fucked

Budget title meant to reuse assets from lets go and BDSP is gonna be 80 dollars in japan and doesnt even have the game on the cart

70 dollars USD, are they high? IIRC most pokemon spin offs bomb so charging full price for this shit is insane, though surprised they didn't make it 80 USD outside of japan. guess they realized international audiences are more price sensitive or some shit?
Guess they tried to bury the lead on the pricing/GCK reveal but I think they only drew more attention to it

Pokemon spinoffs always seem to get the short end of the stick. It's very telling that this wasn't divulged when the game was first announced.
If you mean the dev team, Nintendo just doesn't want to divulge that anymore. We only know it due to the recent leaks. If you mean the key-card, they don't want people to see that as a barrier even if, given my reaction, people like me clearly do consider it one.

Yeah I meant the key card. They even put up a video explaining how they work today.

Well, it is a game that's aimed for actual children.
Well, the majority is actually grown ups in their 20s to 40s that plays on nintendo, not children. Still nintendo treat everyone as babies and spoon feed their player base.

Taking $70 for a worthless key card or digital is insulting.

What on earth were they thinking with these player character designs?

Regardless of that, I'll never play a modern 3D pokemon game ever again my whole life. I've given one or two of them a shot on the Switch, and they just feel so cheap and dull. They really do look and feel like a crappy chinese knock-off phone game. Shame, because the modern Pokemon games still have some elite tier music and some cool pokemon designs.

Whatever, it had a good run as a series. The 2D games are still endlessly replayable if one gets an itch for a pokemon-style game.

can't wait to paperclip my switch so i never have to deal with this bullshit again, got one of the earliest models that they can never patch, just need to set time aside to do it and not fuck it up or get banned.

>Rosalina is played by Brie Larson

Nah, I’m good. Call me when they get to the Zelda movie.

Forget the paper clip, just buy an $8 jig off Amazon and make sure you always boot into emuNAND with 90DNS (whatever setup guide you use should likely include that). If you’re especially paranoid, then before booting into emuNAND, unplug your router and run the 90DNS tester app to make sure everything is adequately blocked.

yeah i tried it with the paperclip but couldn't get it, i already have the jig just too busy right now to do it properly

Did Miyamoto brick everyone's Switch 1 so they'd have to buy the new one, or is mine just a broken piece of shit?
It turned on. I just had to hold the power button for 30 seconds and tap it again, and then wait for it to charge.
God, I'm stupid.

She'll be played by Zendaya and you know it.
