Here's the actual reason: Fast-carts or whatever they're called are expensive to make and not enough of them are available since the tech has been largely stillborn up until this point.

Edit: Also, you're wrong on re-selling, game keys or whatever they're called can be resold and will work in whichever Switch 2 they are plugged into as long as the servers are still up.
Well, maybe the real issue here is that Nintendo thinks that these cartridges, despite being cheaper to make due to the lack of on-cart data, are worth just as much as their competition.

Nintendo is really their own worst enemy, and it seems to always happen right around the time where they get too cocky.

Are we sure Nintendo is not in the red? That might explain why they're REALLY jacking up the prices for all of their shit because they bet the entire fucking farm on cartridges and now they are fucked while using convenient scapegoats (e.g. tariffs) to cover their ass while getting back all the money they lost.
As a portable the Switch just wasn't going to be able to use discs (ask the PSP how that goes) and the 16 GB carts were cost-competitive with discs.

Switch is the second best selling system of all time despite never having had a price drop and all you can say is "are they in the red?" Really?

As far as I know, no first party games are using the cuck carts.

or the cat decides it's an evil snake

I have indeed experienced this in the past. Cats have an inherent hate of expensive electronics.

Anti leak too, if a seller breaks street date they can just make the key useless until the game launches

That doesn't make any sense. They won't even allow the key to authorize until the street release date.

That likely isn't it. The technology underlying the game carts and the flash memory the system takes as an expansion of system memory are completely different types of memory. The memory in the carts is WORM type (Write Once, Read Many), the memory is the SD Express cards is R/W type, which are based on different concepts. No one would bother using R/W flash in a cart that will only ever contain the same data, it wouldn't make any sense, it would be much more costly to use R/W memory.

And hopefully the carts have in them or the Switch 2 gets an update that makes it like past Nintendo consoles. Where as long as you have the digital game you can redownload it forever regards of the main servers.

Well, it all depends on the model they are going to use. If the game-key carts require an auth. from Nintendo before downloading the game from an external CDN (content distribution network, where the game is stored for download) then it will remain good for as long as Nintendo's auth servers are up. For the 3DS that was ~12 1/2 years, for the DS that was 10 years, and for the Wii that was 8 years, for an average of ~10 years. If the game-key card itself is the auth and nothing is required to be verified by Nintendo's servers first, then it will be for however long the people who run the external CDN that hosts the game continue to allow it to be downloaded. If the game downloads are actually hosted on Nintendo's own CDN, then I would imagine that auth and download will go down at the same time, so it's whenever that happens (~10 years give or take). So it's either when Nintendo's auth servers go offline, or when the external CND stops hosting the game for download, depending on the model used.

>as a portable
  1. It's not even a true portable, it's a hybrid wannabe that makes some games perform worse when not docked.
  2. Did you ever stop to think that maybe trying to make it do two things at once WAS the problem all along?

Yes really and the fact that you're blinding yourself with "best selling console of all time" is part of the problem. Being a successful seller means dick if you're draining money like water behind closed doors.

If Nintendo was really rich and had all the moneys, they wouldn't need bullshit like subscription services and increased prices. If Iwata had to take a pay cut during the WiiU, what the fuck else has been going on with the company that they don't want everyone else knowing about now?

These are the questions people should be asking but rather than do that, they will instead continue to feed into Nintendo's habit rather than cut them out cold turkey like the drug addicts they are.

The problem all along was that Nintendo couldn't sell enough home systems to keep that market viable and were probably heading in the same direction with handhelds due to smartphone games taking that market. Switch literally saved their hardware side. You can try to relitigate that if you want but the rest of the thread thinks you're rubbing two rocks together retarded. Like we've seen the results already, its the Switch which sold 160 million units, a number previously thought impossible for any system. Nintendo also has to report their financials, as a publicly traded company, and we know that Switch has been very profitable across units and games.

I mean really, shouldn't have made a hybrid? You can say what you want about the user experience but as far as market forces are concerned it worked.

Edit: Also, "rich enough", isn't how any business works. If they're giving you something for free or at a subsidized price its because they think doing so will make them more money later. Feel free to not like the price increase but game dev costs are going up and currency values are going down, what did you think was going to happen?

There is an encryption key on the cards and some data for the store download portion, they aren't just plastic slugs, and with how stupidly Nintendo usually does things, probably costs MORE than their standard cards, since each one needs a unique key.

Nintendo lolcows when boycotts win.

Nintendo do suck balls but these wacky charcters are not helping their cause either. Looking like bootleg trolls pretending to be Nintendo fans, but they hate Nintendo now somehow.

Even got one dude saying this boycott will fail badly.

Apparently, NintenDeen has quit the games community.

It is, Switch Lite ended this debate decisively.

It could be simple greed. They may also suspect that since Switch 2 won't be as popular as Switch 1 anyway that they can crunch the numbers and expect maximized revenue from a price increase; basically, if not everyone will buy it then at least tax the asses of those who do. Maybe it's a bit of both.

For the Nintencucks that are SquarEnix fags, the pre-order for the physical game-key card version of Bravely Default HD Remaster is now available at Best Buy. It is not going to be available for pickup at a local store on June 5th, they are only allowing it to be shipped, fortunately they are offering free shipping. GameStop appears to no longer be offering the physical game-key card version for pre-order on their site or in their app . Target isn't offering it for pre-order yet. Neither is Walmart. Nintendo themselves also isn't offering the physical game-key card version for pre-order on their site, just saying it is going to be available on June 5.

We'll get to here and stop (except outside of Japan where it will do well. Probably 25-30M LTD).
LOL I’m going to come back to this post in a year and laugh.

The Switch 2 will easily sell 50 million in 3 years, and over 100 million lifetime.

People need to realise that Nintendo have no serious competition in this market. Xbox are now on the verge of death and are putting games on both PS5 and Switch 2. Playstation and Nintendo are so different that they can both be very successful at the same time, as we saw with the PS4 and Switch 1.

And no, the fucking Steam Deck is NOT a serious competitor. Get back to me when it outsells the Wii U or PS Vita.

Being a Nintencuck and getting a Switch 2 will be the first time I've gotten a new console or handheld system in more than a decade, and my first new Nintendo system in 15 years. I'm mostly a member of the PC Master Race for any titles I really want to play, and I emulate everything else.

Hard to believe it has been that long.

Note, the die shot is said to be that of a T239, this has not been proven.

Furthermore his supposed test is "Geekerwan emulated the performance of the Switch 2 using an underclocked RTX 2050 laptop GPU. While not a one-to-one recreation, in synthetics, the laptop (using leaked docked specifications) showed similar performance to a GTX 1050 Ti..." So it wasn't even done on hardware that looks anything like a T239, not even close.

This is a retard proxytest because a 2050 isn't even Ampere architecture, which the T239 is based on. The 2050 is based on the Turing architecture, which is one generation older than the Ampere architecture.

Did you bother to read the article, or you just read the headline and take the word of the morons that wrote the article?
