I don't know where all the hate is coming from, I'm perfectly happy with it.
People are just gobsmacked by the price for what it is. I've no doubt the new Mario Kart is good, or that the Switch 2 may be a nice piece of hardware to hold and use, but it costs much more than similarly powered systems/tablet/computers and has a single exclusive game. If I wanted to play Cyberpunk on the go, I could buy a Steamdeck and Cyberpunk on Steam instead of buying a Switch 2 and Cyberpunk, and have nearly an extra $100 in my pocket. If I want to play that game, why am I buying it for Switch? Literally the only reason to buy a Switch 2 now is Mario Kart and the promise of quality future software, and people find that value proposition somewhat comical. If this thing were launching with say, Prime 4, maybe a quirky smaller title like a new ARMS or Punch Out or something, and Mario Kart, I don't think Nintendo would be catching nearly as much shit, even with the high price.

Wait they gave up on Nick Kart and had to mash up with Sonic?

Hah
Yeah, they already showed off SpongeBob, but leaks are claiming TMNT and Avatar are also going to be put in the Sonic roster. Alongside them, Minecraft will also be getting characters.

You're not as in touch as you think you are and reside within an echo chamber.
It’s not even that. Knowing Nintendo fans, I figured it wouldn’t be a top three game but in the top 10.

I get that sites like Reddit, KW, 4Chan are small compared to the normies who buy Nintendo products.

The one issue I've had is that the system seems to keep randomly dropping my internet connection for a few seconds and then it reconnects, which is annoying to have those messages "You're disconnected from the internet" when you're playing only to find out the connection has already been re-established. However, I can't be sure that is purely the Switch 2 and not my internet contributing to that since my internet connection can act like shit sometimes. I'll have to wait and see if anyone else runs into similar problems.

So the wifi is terrible like the Switch 1.

Prime 4 is still going to be on switch 1 and run at 60fps,
Powerleveling, and I know this is "My uncle works at Nintendo" tier but I had a friend that worked at Retro on MP4 that told me even the higher ups from Nintendo were shocked at the performance they get out of the game on Switch 1 hardware, but tbh, I'll believe it when I see it. Honestly incredible if they can get the visuals and performance down on it. He also said Nintendo wasn't totally upfront with them about the Switch 2 hardware (before it was announced anyway, haven't spoke to him since) and what they should be optimizing/aiming for (Which, I assume, is why it's not a launch title), so I'm also a little warry about their claims it can reach 120 fps 4k on Switch 2.

I wonder if they'll bring back Danica Patrick.

Remember Kiwis, if you ever feel like you haven't accomplished anything in life, take confidence in knowing you've won just as many Nascar championships as Danica Patrick.

I saw that this released today so I went and looked it up to see how much it cost. It was $699 for the Mario Kart bundle. For $680 I could buy a 512GB OLED Steam Deck that'll probably be able to emulate the switch 2 in a few months.
I'd like to thank all the early adopters. I need true blue tendies to keep this thing alive until it gets a game that I want (preferably two or more).

How does this even happen? Don’t pay attention to the price since eshop thinks i’m in Australia. But how does the Welcome Tour get to number 3 on the eshop charts?
I mean...there's literally only 3 other games to pick from, one of which should have been included in the console, and the other two are just "next-gen" updates for BOTW and TOTK, which honestly are basically the same game
anyway.

I'm currently saving my money and waiting to see what an ASUS ROG ALLY 2
Thats fair. I still like the touchpads so fucking much, but a lot of other stuff which can still run proton and stuff is a decent enough choice. Still better than switch 2.

Is there a single Switch 2 game that would even need the upgrade besides dealing with unoptimized code?
Nintendo for a LONG time has been cheaper, lower power, but has the nintendo catalog. I'm not sure how well it will switch, especially since increasingly less and LESS games need the "super newest powerful stuff". Like I don't think people realize how much this is a factor ESPECIALLY with steam, I only have like maybe a COUPLE games I feel id need better rig to run ideally, like beamngdrive.

So with all that said, what even is nintendos plan? Like this is assuming its TRUE that switch2 is indeed just as powerful as claimed. Like I had people say the deck isn't as good as a rig when I got it, but the situations where this becomes a problem, and even more importantly, an INSURMOUNTABLE problem (beamngdrive, I CANNOT play that with traffic on) are minimal because I think the whole "you need the next generation" bs is kinda dying. I guess they plan to HOPEFULLY be powerful enough to bring in all the ps5 or whatever shit on there too, but like....if you NEED more power, I'd suggest the rogue ally or whatever PC based handheld. Looking at games on launch, nothing listed COULDN'T run on the steam deck AFAIK (of games which are also on pc) so I don't get it.
Theres literally a flimsy sheet of cardboard from the packaging protecting the console. Whoever designed that box deserves to get fired.
Another reason to buy steam deck. It's box is pretty with the design and the Case is nice

I honestly can't think of the last time I was actually truly excited for a Nintendo game. I guess probably Twilight Princess would have been the last time. I was kind of excited for Metroid Dread until I actually played it. But my hopes weren't really that high after seeing how much worse the metroid 2 remake was than AM2R. I'm not really all that excited for Prime 4 because I know it's not just going to be Prime 1 but bigger and more awesome. It's going to be some gay contrived shit that's just another step away further from what actually made metroid games good. I'm sure whatever Zelda games come out are just going to be more BotW type faggotry. I've been sick of Mario games since Mario sunshine. I really can't think of anything Nintendo might shit out exclusively for this console that would ever get me excited enough to buy one. The only reason I ever contemplated getting the first switch was because I liked the idea of carrying around console quality games but android PC game piracy and console emulation is good enough now it's not even worth it.

People have been blaming Gamestop for this which is fair enough I suppose since they stapled the shit, but I personally blame Nintendo themselves. Nintendo really cheaped out on the packaging to the Switch 2, under the front box lid is the fucking tablet with thin plastic on it and that's it. There was a dude on Youtube who had his box all busted up in the corner right were the tablet part of the Switch was very close to damaging the system.

Nintendo put the most fragile and important part of the console in the most vulnerable spot with no fucking protection. They don't even have a cover over the top of the contents of the box like most companies use when they package their products for this very reason, protection.
No. A stupid person decided to staple receipts to a box containing consumer electronics. Don't blame the manufacturer.
People like you are the reason hammers are sold with warning labels.

Keep in mind that switch 2 cannot run both 4K and 120fps at the same time because of the HDMI format (I doubt many games would be able to do both anyway on the hardware)

The Switch 2 uses the HDMI 2.1 standard with 4 lanes at 6 Gbps totaling 24 Gbps, allowing for 4Kp60 @ HDR 10-bit with Chroma subsampling 4:4:4. It can also do 1440p120 & 1080p120 @ HDR 10-bit with chroma subsampling 4:4:4.

For proper 4Kp60 @ HDR 10-bit with Chroma subsampling 4:4:4 output, you need a minimum of an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable since it is certified for 48 Gbps (42.66 Gbps effective rate when considering overhead). Any cable that is certified for a lower standard will not be able to handle the bandwidth and you will likely experience any manner of strange problems. The Switch 2 comes with the proper Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.

They did it with prime remastered, locked 60fps on handheld and docked, 600p and 900p respectively, it's a smaller scale game but they pumped more into the scenes.

Getting a bit technical since I like to sperg about how good prime remastered is. It's forward rendered with baked lighting, the tech everyone says is dead but it's the reason it can run and look so good. With full PBR, baked volumetric lighting, it has no right to look as good as it does on a switch. The only other Nintendo game with a similar tech stack is Monolith and Xenoblade 3, but that's deferred and with heavy upscaling from 480p handheld like 600p docked at the lowest, and runs 30fps with drops. Retro are wizards

The thing that blackpilled about using the Switch was a game called Tunic, where the last boss fight was just unplayable due to lag. I don't know if it was shit programming, delay from the joycons or my console being old. But afterwards I didn't play anything beyond VNs on the Switch (which also sometimes ran like shit).

Also having the Switch 2 run differently between docked and undocked would mean that playing games undocked would very likely cause performance to dive due to the devs working on the docked version.

The fact that a staple could even pierce the screen is a joke. For 500 bucks, that screen damn well better be some kind of glass or hardened plastic at the least.
My cell phone was 300 bucks and has tempered glass.

I don't think that was done with a standard office stapler. It looks like they used a staple gun.

The screen is made of glass, by the way. I think the staples damaged the protective screen that is installed on top of the glass.
