The Mario Kart game have become a paid live service game that Nintendo is gonna milk to its fullest (just look at MK8 ). What you have now is just the basic standard edition, but soon they will be dishing out improvements and DLC (tracks/characters). If you choose to keep up with the game you will be paying through the nose for that stuff over a 7 years period. Dont be shocked that Nintendo butt kissers are gonna praise the game as 10/10.They really fucked the first year or two of the switch 2 with this new mario kart. A good mario kart game will appeal to pretty much everyone. Unfortunately, it looks like they completely dropped the ball with the intermission track situation and the boring open world. It seems to be a downgrade on mario kart 8 in almost every way. It's still mario kart, so there's a baseline level of fun, but it looks to be a genuine 5/10 right now.
You could just not buy that shit. Depends on how bare bones the release is though, if they obviously held back content then that's fucked up.The Mario Kart game have become a paid live service game that Nintendo is gonna milk to its fullest (just look at MK8 ). I wouldn't even pirate Nintendo (second party IPs like Xenoblade are fair game).Nintendo's games are great. Look at all the angry people in this very thread that have nothing good to say and yet still move heaven and earth for the chance to steal a Nintendo game.
When playing the classic Grand Prix mode, 2 of the laps are spent driving to the actual track on a straight line highway that they call an "intermission". You then get 1 lap racing the actual track and then you drive to the next one.You could just not buy that shit. They did hold back content for switch1 games like splatoon, animal crossing and more. when it comes to mk8 they did see how bad the wiiu did. so they just saved the dlc stuff for switch1 port so they could continue the milking on a new platform. You could just not buy that shit. If you don't like racing games then why would you be an early adopter of Switch 2 when the big launch title is a racing game?

Sounds like a good reason to not buy it and complain about it, instead of buying it and complaining about it.View attachment 7477989
Wanna know why the OG Switch sold gangbusters during its launch? Because it launched with BREATH OF THE FUCKING WILD and was followed up by a killer launch window lineup (Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, culminating in Mario Odyssey). What do we have for the Switch 2 lineup? A Mario Kart that's less appealing than the previous entry, a DK game that's a new 3D Mario in all but name, and a Pokemon Legends game.... that's it. Not worth it at all
Wait. I thought we wanted a 3D DK game? And the last one which people wanted a sequel to was a 3D platformer like Mario.a DK game that's a new 3D Mario
In the early PS3 and Xbox 360 days, I scoffed at the companies - Microsoft in particular - for trying to sell their little plastic boxes as entertainment systems, not games consoles. However, time has moved on and despite me being PC through and through, the ability for consoles to act as an entertainment hub, connecting to YouTube, Netflix, MySpace, PornHub and Roku has become almost essential. Nintendo does not have this option on the Switch 2, and it feels like something is missing. I get that Nintendo lives in its own bubble, and damned what consumers expect, but sometimes you want to watch a video instead of play a game.
It seems like they are content with constant sales over long time and not worrying about making a huge splash with the launch marketing blitz. And sales are still quite good. It's a bit of an odd launch happening in the middle of the year. Right now it feels very similar to the Game Boy Advance - emphasis on back-compat, enhanced versions of older games, and a mixed-reception Mario Kart.
Supposedly there's going to be another direct soon-ish and we might actually see some interesting titles come out in the second half of the year.
I will also reiterate - the sales in Japan alone are already equal to what the Wii U sold in 4 weeks globally.
Ironically enough, I've become less interested in the media capabilities of devices in the last ten years as every streaming platform has descended into churning out an undifferentiated pile of soulless, focus group-driven slop. So the majority of my entertainment these days is... games.
Nintendo fully owns Monolith, its a first party IPsecond party IPs like Xenoblade are fair game

And for the schizo, you simply plug in the computer of your choice to the spy TV. You can pick up a 7th gen or newer Intel OptiPlex MFF for under $100 and have H.264/H.265/VP9 hardware decode, and AV1 done in software just fine. Also does anyone really need this stuff from a game console anymore? Every TV now comes with a billion streaming apps built-in. It was a different story back in 2013 with the PS4 and Xbone but these days I just can't see why a console would need such things.
To be fair to YouTube Google and Nintendo are trying to work on getting a Switch 2 version of the app up and running, although the same can't be said for Netflix and other streaming services. It is true that Nintendo not including YouTube, Netflix, etc. is retarded. But that's a decision they could fix with an update.
