Kind of standard fare, given the series recent history. Might be the next Mario Kart World, in a way.
I wish they would do another sport at this point. Tennis has always been the least interesting, not helped by the overabundance of Tennis titles. Super Sluggers was the best of these and should have gotten another entry on Switch 1 after Strikers. Would even take Hoops at this point just to add some variety.

It's nice if you're unironically into cozy games, at least.
I enjoyed Crafted World, but this new game looks like such a boring slog. I hope I am proven incorrect, but Yoshi just looks slow and the puzzle gameplay is not striking me as that engaging.

Personally, I think that they've ran out of ideas, at this point. Since they've fucked up with golf game by taking away any sense of challenge from it. The soccer games are just soccer with Mario and giant shells in it. Tennis, is somewhat good. But it's still just feels largely the same.

Baseball would be interesting, but unbalanced.

Seriously, man. It's actually targeted towards preschoolers, this time around

The new year has come, meaning I am personally curious to see what Nintendo does this year to really expand the Switch 2 as we are really lacking in announced content. As a quick reminder, here is the lineup we are looking at for this year so far:
  • Mario Tennis Fever - February 12th
  • Pokémon Pokopia - March 5th
  • Yoshi and The Mysterious Book - Autumn 2026
  • Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave - 2026

Nintendo Switch 2 Editions
  • Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch 2 Edition - January 15th
  • Super Mario Bros Wonder + Meet Up in Bellabel Park - Autumn 2026

Nintendo Switch 1 Releases:
  • Tomodachi Life Living The Dream - Autumn 2026
  • Rhythm Heaven Groove - 2026
Honestly, a pretty rough list, only 4 actual new titles for Switch 2 and the new editions being arguably some of the weakest in terms of new content. Switch 1 releases are interesting in adding more variety with some of Nintendo's nicher titles.

Personal hopes, I would like to see Hotel Dusk come back like what was formerly rumored when Another Code did. Now that the Switch 2 has mouse controls, it could be a more faithful adaptation of the two games. Otherwise, best bets are on a Kirby Forgotten Land follow-up and Luigi's Mansion 4, maybe a WarioWare for good measure. I am thinking Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash, and a few other big boys are sadly going to be held off based on development circumstances.

If we are doing more Switch 2 Editions, Three Houses is an obvious one. It could use better graphics and they could finally complete Edelgard's rushed route to not cut off halfway through. Would also be a great way to advertise the next FE. Then, in terms of DLC, everyone wants MK World, so hopefully they address it in the earliest direct.
Isn't Duskbloods coming out this year?

If you are going off what teenagers and kids play. Basically nothing cracked anything on any console or PC. They are still playing what they played in 2024. Ask them about Arc Raider or Expedition 33 they will look at you like you are retarded. If Marvel Rivals had come out 1 month later it would be the most culturally relevant "new" game to come out in 2025 that kids and normies somewhat care about.

As far as that crew is concerned only Pokemon ZA and Mario Kart World exist for the Switch 2. They give zero fucks about Donkey Kong, Metroid or Kirby. Nothing is coming out they will care about right now.

They might care about Duskbloods if it is popular with streamers. Thats a huge fucking if, but dick riding Fromsoft is free gamer credibility right now so I am expecting a few to pretend to like it.

Some small sales news on the other side of the globe (and by that I mean European countries.)

Switch 2 outsold the PS Vita, Dreamcast, and Wii U in the UK, making it not a failure on those console's levels over there.

Switch 2 reached 300K sales in Spain 3 months faster than Switch 1 did

Keep in mind, Europe was Nintendo's weakest selling region before the first Switch, so it doing well over there shows that the momentum the Switch did have over there has carried over to the Switch 2 in Europe to varrying degrees.

Switch 2 is definitely doing far better as a Switch successor than the Wii U did as the Wii's successor. It's probably not the massive runaway hit they were hoping for but given they're known not to sell hardware at a loss I'm sure it's been profitable for them and has enough of an installed user base now to make it worth supporting longer than the Wii U got. Still not doing a good enough job on first party game releases but that seems to be an industry-wide problem now. They've got more exclusives than fuckin' PS5 does. :story:

Switch 2 feels more in line with the times than the Switch by a good margin. With the way tech advancement has tapered off, and the price increases for Sony and Microsoft consoles and PC GPUs it feels like it can keep up better this time around. I genuinely hated the switch and it's shit performance and sold it after I played the first few first party releases and just emulated what I really wanted to play after that and it ran better. If you want to talk value proposition and paid upgrades, I ridiculed the people paying $60 to play TotK on the original Switch, and I'm getting shit now for paying a $10 premium to play it in all it's glory on Switch 2.

Square's angrily rattling the tip jar at us, again.

All Nintendo needs to do is release a new Zelda, Mario, and Animal Crossing. And you’ll watch them continue to sell tens of millions of consoles for those games alone
With Mario, that might be dying off if it's another 2D platformer and the cracks are finally showing with Zelda. I'm honestly not looking for towards a new Zelda game if it's going to be another entry in the BOTW series. But people will Just buy it, anyways.

Baby Waluigi is no longer a fan character.

Surprised it took this long for Baby Wario to escape Yoshi's Island DS and be in a spin-off title, even Baby Donkey Kong made it in Super Sluggers back in 09.

Path of Radiance just randomly dropped. The only announcement vid is JP but it's available everywhere if you update the Gamecube app.

I thought they were saving this game for whenever they start drip feeding Fortune's Weave info.

Woah PoR? That's crazy dude... What's even crazier is that my buddy was playing it on dolphin back in 2014 for free. I got to see the final battle with Ashnard and everything. Imagine paying for not one, but two Internets just to play it on a subscription basis.

A fool and his money are easily parted I suppose.

Hate to be "that guy", but this is the same mentality that emboldens Nintendo to strike down ROM sites, it is probably best not post screenshots and brag when it can snowball into Nintendo's second attack on Vimm's Lair.
