Woah PoR? That's crazy dude... What's even crazier is that my buddy was playing it on dolphin back in 2014 for free. I got to see the final battle with Ashnard and everything. Imagine paying for not one, but two Internets just to play it on a subscription basis.

A fool and his money are easily parted I suppose.
But can he play it for free on the Nintendo switch 2?

Hate to be "that guy", but this is the same mentality that emboldens Nintendo to strike down ROM sites, it is probably best not post screenshots and brag when it can snowball into Nintendo's second attack on Vimm's Lair.
Dear Nintendo:

Had a go on a family members Switch 2 when visiting and honestly pretty underwhelmed.

Practically every Switch 1 game wasn't designed for the extra power so other than a second or so off loading times it does nothing, it isn't even like the Xbox One -> Xbox Series S situation where going from a hard drive to a SSD sees MAJOR loading screen changes as it's literally going from flash memory to maybe slightly better flash memory. Xenoblade 1 DE and DOOM played identically to the versions I have on my Switch 1. Zelda BOTW runs silky smooth mind and the new Mario Kart looks great even though it runs like absolute dogshit the moment you play multiplayer.

He wanted to get Vampire Survivors and its DLC and I laughed watching him go through the nintendo store and spend like 10 minutes buy everything individually because apparently it kicked him out of the store after every purchase.

Just blows my mind that Nintendo are drip feeding updates to Nintendo games and charging for them at a time when the console has barely any games. Animal Crossing New Horizons should have had the update literally ready to go on day one as that was the fucking game that saw everybody and his dog buy a Switch back in 2020. Like the system is clearly better than the Switch 1 in terms of power but there's absolutely nothing to showcase it.

So it's functionally just backwards compatibility with nothing added on?, Not really the first time Nintendo's BC was like this by default, since it was like that from Wii U just having the entire Wii's software packed in and using that when you wanted to play Wii games and thus was just as good as playing on a Wii, or Gamecube games just being run as is on Wii just going from the Mini-Disc drive to the actual DVD drive, so basically just being lazy about it if they bothered to with the new hardware being close enough to the one that came before, except this time they are expecting developers to actually update thier games for the new hardware (most won't unless it's broken on S2).

Except some of thier games actually got free updates (most of which were on the same day as the console launch) that just make them look prettier on Switch 2, they're just being extra jewish by tying what would be $5-20 DLCs to some of them (seemingly the ones people wanted to have better versions for Switch 2 the most so far), or $10 or more just to do the same for an existing copy in cases like Metroid Prime 4.

I'm sure Nintendo browses the kiwi farms often.... they love a good lolcow.
Holy shit, faggot, we get it, you pirate. How many dozens of comments have you made being smug about it.
I'm not apologizing for saving shekels. Stay mad and >keep paying<.

They should be dripping out switch 2 updates for switch 1 games like once a week if they want to drip feed them. The fact it's been months and there are barely any is a joke. All the games that are capped at 720p will look even worse stretched to 1080p on the handheld screen, like the Xenoblade trilogy. Why didn't Xenoblade X get a patch day one, it came out a couple months before the Switch 2 did.

I can understand some patches taking time, since they would need to update all the game UI for 4k output, but the fact they charge money on top of it is just pathetic money grubbing.

Honestly, I think Nintendo is in deep shit. They might have that Splatoon campaign this year, definitely have Pokémon Builders and that Fromsoft game and might have GF save the day in Q4 with Gen 10 but it's looking a lot like those are their three biggest guns. This is coming from Logan Plant, who doesn't drink the Kool-Aid and says things straight and I think that's a very weak lineup.

I got one when it came out last year. Pretty much been a dust collector. Played Donkey Kong on it and it was over-rated garbage. I only use it for the store to see new releases and cheap titles. The reason I got it was all two of my regular Switches are hacked and I don't want Nintendo to know. Also, I can always hack it later down the line.

I mean fair, but at the same time, Emulation is quite unfortunately known for "piracy" just as much as it is preservation and even more so for ROM sites (especially as far as Nintendo is concerned), so any mentions of getting a game for free next to a ROM site is just begging for the lawyers to shut it down using whatever "proof" they can to do it, it already happened several times because people couldn't keep thier mouth shut.

Preservation is a bullshit excuse for most popular titles. There's twenty million copies of the original LoZ out there including the source code at Nintendo HQ. People aren't preserving shit unless it is select obscure titles from defunct companies or beta versions that might get scrapped by corpo bigwigs tryingto save a nickel.

Edit: To be clear, I am not against pirates but think they are smug faggots when they brag about it and disingenuous faggots when they mention "preservation" in regards to commercially released games.

You're not wrong for this, generally speaking. The issue is that enthusiasts are superior preservationists to corporations. If enthusiasts don't care enough to preserve a game, there's no chance that corporation that made it is going to pay someone to preserve it. There's a long history of pirates being the only people to preserve specific old media. Consider byuu's preservation attempts. Doesn't mean he's not a faggot, and not wrong about a lot, but you gotta give the man credit for the work he did, even if it is mostly redundant. The important instances are the cases where his work wasn't redundant.

One of the funniest things by far is when people say that the Switch 2 is worth it for BOTW played how you're meant to play it, to which I say (ignoring the entire emulation situation) YOU NIGGERS ADVERTISED THE SWITCH WITH THE SAME FUCKING PREMISE.

They'll release the game on the Switch 3 with longer draw distance and say the same shit. It's a decent game and it's hilarious that now the Switch 2 is out that people are finally admitting that the Switch wasn't actually THAT great.

It was a console that definitely punched above its weight. It's good that most of its library is getting a second chance with all the updates that are being put out.

If Nintendo thinks that Donkey Kong Country 2 is worth two internets a year just to rent it, then as far as I'm concerned their "service" and the games on it are worth nothing. I can get an objectively better experience with more options across multiple different pieces of hardware for free, and I get to keep the game for as long as I have the file. The only downside is the hassle of setting everything up, which has gotten progressively easier over time. If Nintendo wants me to pay for a game I owned and played 20 years ago, then they can start by creating a better service with more reasonable ownership policies that offer their older games at a reasonable price.

If I see an HD remaster of F-Zero GX with online races on servers that don't run like total dogshit at a reasonable one-time price, then perhaps I'll consult my wallet for a change of opinion.

It's good that most of its library is getting a second chance with all the updates that are being put out.
The library was 90% Wii U releases and indie games. It's finally at the end of its life and there's only really Xenoblade 2+3, Zelda TOTK, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Animal Crossing that were great Nintendo first parties and I'm half tempted to chalk off Mario Kart and Smash Bros as they're functionally identical to the Wii U versions.

As a handheld? It's fantastic, the best around excluding the Steam deck. As a home console it was dogshit.

Smash had something like 25 additional characters (a whole damn roster for some modern fighting games,) totally different side content and more stages than you can shake a stick at.

Uh... stick in KirbyatFL (Star Allies was also present, though pretty generic,) Mario Wonder, Metroid Dread, Luigi's Mansion 4, the two Xenoblade remakes' packed in expansions, PL Arceus if that's your speed, Pikmin 4, Mario+Rabbids, the Bowser's Fury side-content in 3DWorld. Honestly, there was a ton of stuff and most of the Wii U ports run better and are cheaper on Switch, meaning you pretty much don't need a Wii U unless you really want to play those two cut Captain Toad levels, Nintendoland or Star Fox Zero. Its hard to argue that the Switch's library was anything short of stellar, clearly the best lineup since, what, the DS? I think it surpassed any of the home consoles, at least in amount of quality first party releases. Maybe NES with its four fucking Mario games, two, Zeldas, two Star Tropics, etc., hard to compete with that.

So, recently I got the Switch 2 and it’s 3 main big titles: Mario Kart World, DK Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders. I guess you can say, I have thoughts…

So weirdly, I feel like I am acting complete contrarian to the Nintendo community as I feel the exact opposite on the games to them, with exception to Kirby.

To start off. I have played a little bit of Air Riders, though it is my lowest playtime. It is good.
The game is exactly what fans would want from a sequel to a cult-classic GameCube game and more. The game is not going to be a huge system seller, but it didn’t need to be, it just needed to be that one unique experience that adds flavoring to the console, and it does that superbly. Only thing I can say about it is that if you like Air Ride, you will like the sequel, otherwise, it will probably be too niche for you.

Mario Kart World is my highest playtime, and you know what, I like it. I really like it. World has arguably risen to a top contender of the series, maybe number 1. Mechanically, this is the best a Mario Kart has ever felt. It has a certain energy to it that is unrivaled by previous entries between the rail hopping, wall riding, and general bounce.
Single player, the game is actually difficult at 150cc, which I appreciate. Getting three stars requires some work, especially in the Knockout Tour. The free roam missions can also be troublesome, but make you feel like you are really learning the game. I love how eventful and frankly chaotic this entry is. As much as people hate the intermissions, I actually like them for the difficulty and somewhat unpredictability they bring. I always have a feeling of never being too far ahead. Now, maybe if I played more online, these feelings would change, but as a single player Mario Kart, I enjoy it.
Character-wise, I love the roster even with its obvious omissions. I am hoping that DLC comes and evens things out, but I still like the current roster and a fair chunk of the costume selection. Main character requests would be for more DK characters, specifically K Rool, Diddy, Dixie and Funky, maybe Cranky as well. As for costumes, wish they pulled more references. Would love to get actual Biker Wario, NES Open Mario & Luigi, Wedding variants, and I really want that geeked up Bowser from that one 3DS AD:

So far, Wario has the best variants, but even he could use some more style. Best costumes are Pirate Wario and the Sunshine outfit for Mario.

As for DK Bananza, I am with @Quijibo69. The game is fine, but nothing special like Nintentards hype it up as. The game just lacks memorability so far, every world just feeling bland and uniform. The destruction mechanic is too much and wears its welcome quickly. I also hate how the game controls, I feel like I constantly use the wrong inputs for what should be a fairly easy to play game. It is Odyssey again, but without the charm of unique worlds and the capture mechanic.
Also, I still hate the artstyle. I thought it would grow on me, but it honestly gets worse when playing. The designs don’t fit DK and just get mushed into the bland feeling of a game clearly aimed at toddlers. I miss Odyssey’s more realistic-cartoon approach as it would have fit DK a lot better than the weird angular-ish cartoon designs.
