Why do people keep coping about a 3D Mario happening this year? EPD just wrapped up development on DK Bananza and are knee-deep in development of Splatoon Raiders. Unless they've been pulling triple-duty, which I highly doubt, at best, we'll see it announced late this year for a 2027 release
What @whatever I feel like said + a lot of key staffers from Odyssey were not on DK Bananza, most notably Koizumi

Sigh, I'll post my autistic Nintendo dev chart again...

The horizontal lines divide Nintendo-owned teams, followed by long-term partners that only work with Nintendo, followed by multi-plat studios that also do Nintendo IP projects, followed by one off mobile developers.

As you can see the cupboard is pretty bare on big games that have been announced but not yet released.

So hypothetically I get a Switch 2 and Mario Kart World, what else is coming soon that's relatively big?

Because it's really strange how the Switch 2 is selling gangbusters, is very clearly more powerful than the Switch 1 but the big hype is all the re-releases of Switch games with nothing BIG coming soon.

I get that it's likely Smash, a 3D Mario etc. are coming eventually, but even the Wii U had a load of big "Wait and see" projects in the pipeline, it genuinely looks like Mario Tennis is meant to be the big game to hold us until Summer
As a PC gamer, I approached it as a PC upgrade and I'm happy with it, the performance difference is bigger than the "pro" versions of consoles. If you're treating it as a new system, lul, we're wait and see. I don't understand how a tennis game or even Mario kart could be a holdover game. Those are social games.

Looks Like Mario Wonder's switch 2 edition has shipped early to gamestop looks like it'll be targeting a February release if the code that mentions Feb 27 is when the card is to be put out for sale is to be taken as an indicator of anything. Also, basically implies a direct early or mid February which isn't really all that shocking.

I really feel like once you hit 1080p it gets harder and harder to tell the difference. Your eyes are only so good.
I agree with the concept as resolution has diminishing returns, but also upscaled console shit is not like native 4k.

To be fair now we have the push for DLSS and fake frames so I can't really talk about PC and native 4K generally.

You're starting to see people on X talk about it in the same breath as the Dreamcast, Wii U, and PS Vita. It's a nice, high quality console, but nobody's buying it.
Come-on nigger you can't be saying that shit the same generation Xbox is fent-flopping in the corner, S|2 is far from being a truly DEAD console.

You guys are complaining because you can't afford to play imo
Jersh should add some sort of Bait sticker (a hook or something), regardless here's a (you)

As a PC user, the thought of paying big N a surcharge for certain performance upgrades, better textures, and a nyble of new content sickens me, but I guess it's not that unprecedented (some goyim on PC/Console will pay full price for a half-assed remasters rather than just emulating/modding an old version. Which is still less odious than paying for a, *spits on floor*, 🤮remaster🤮 which rapes every good aspect of the original). Regardless, you do you twin.

Personally, I find the $10 delta less damaging to the gaming industry than the people paying $60/$70 to Nintendo for some 900p/30fps AT BEST experience. I learned my lesson with the switch 1's shit performance, I'm not paying Nintendo unless I get some good performance.

Yeah. I can’t tell the difference between 1080p and 4K in games and movies/tv. Graphics and resolution has plateau and don’t understand why we even need new consoles for the next 5-10 years.
I finally got an OLED TV last year, and that makes way more difference to games visually than upgrading from 1080 to 4K. That was more bang for my buck in terms of upgrading visuals in Switch 1 games than buying a Switch 2 would be.

Shit, I couldn't believe how good the new TV made BOTW for Wii U look.

Still don't get why Rosalina wasn't in the base game, but good to see her and Luma now. Wish they added a few more characters, maybe a particular fat yellow man and his purple sidekick?

This actually shows a decent bit of content being added, even past the tacked on multiplayer modes. The upgrade may actually be a decent one to go for. They should have made a non-assist mode for characters that were originally beginner friendly so Yoshi and Nabbit can be used like a standard character.

Otherwise, new Switch 2 edition. I am sure we will see more soon with bets on the Xenoblade titles and maybe Three Houses (fingers crossed) as ones that could use an upgrade.

Also, Flower...

It's a port of a 3ds game that is a port of a wii game, surely they could afford to turn on anti aliasing
God this sums up modern video games so much and I'm so fucking mad. Remake of a remaster of a remake of a remaster and everyone is doing the fucking soyface at how amazing it is to get idek the Yoshi SNES game rereleased.

In other news I bit the bullet and got a Switch 2. It's made me remember just how fucking much I hate physical games nowadays as I'd need to bring a binder of games with me if I wanted to take it anywhere. The digital store is absolutely shocking, with zero discounts for Nintendo games ever, with the best 'deal' being to get Switch online which allows me to buy two switch games slightly under RRP. Was actually surprised to see that my Switch 1 purchases carried over because I had that doom and gloom feeling that I'd need to do a physical switch transfer to keep anything because I did not trust Nintendo accounts in the slightest.

Granted, I basically got it for £100 by trading in my old switch and taking advantage of some offers and a mates store discount, so as a total upgrade it's pretty good value for me.

Mario Kart is fun mind, even though I've spent most of my time so far replaying Xenoblade X. Load times HAVE got a bit better but it might just be a placebo, either way it's nice to be able to download my entire library to the Switch 2 and play Red Dead whatever now the internal storage is actually good enough to not be limited to a single third party game. Limiting external storage to a specific MicroSD was certainly... a thing but whatever. All in all pretty good, and if they actually update Xenoblade soon to give it a boost that's me happy until 2027 when they actually release a decent Switch 2 exclusive.

Nintendo did do a discount on their games during the holidays. But it is rare for them to do so.

For me, while everyone here has rightfully pointed out all the problems, I’m still excited to see what future games Nintendo has planned for the Switch 2. Heck, this isn’t the first time they’ve gone through awkward phases.

I'm baffled at the very fact that we haven't gotten a playable Wario and Waluigi on a Mario platformer, specially since the NSMB series practically seems to be made for it.

Four plumbers for four playable characters, seems like a no-brainer right?, I'm pretty sure someone at Nintendo must have made the suggestion to include Wario and Waluigi at some point, and Miyamoto most likely threw an autistic tamtrum since those characters weren't created by him. I have no proof, but no doubts either.
