'No Stupid Questions' (NSQ) Internet & Technology Edition

I have music on my phone I wanted to get to play on my car's stereo system but my car is from the flinstones era, doesn't have a auxiliary, bluetooth or anything modern. I was thinking a bluetooth casette or maybe a bluetooth fm transmitter

Was there any other better alternatives I'm missing or is that as good as it gets? It's not a car with a replaceable radio system either, the radio system is integrated in with a bunch of other shit.

Cassette is probably a bit better. I assume you've looked on-line and confirmed there's no hidden aux in maybe on the plugs on the radio. Also there's certainly a chance that a retrofit exists. If it's even semi-popular there are often kits that can even replace integrated ones, especially ones that old.

Back in the day I tried both an FM transmitter and cassette adaptor over the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The cassette system was much better in my experience as the fm transmitter was prone to interference from power lines and heavy traffic. However, I have no experience with this new fangled cassette Bluetooth receiver. I assume it's still better.

I currently have some macros set up to run different commands on my PC (e.g. CTRL+Shift+S to open Steam). Is there a remote that gives me programmable buttons to run these scripts when sitting on the couch, or do I have to get a $100+ universal remote? I have a mini wireless keyboard that technically does the job, but I still have to press key combinations.

Better yet, could these “quick commands” be accessed through an overlay menu that appears on the monitor/TV? Like pressing the Home button on a console.

With LUA Macros and AHK you can make that wireless keyboard into the macro keyboard of your dreams!

That’s what I’m already doing, but I want something more intuitive that you only need one hand for (don’t give me that look, I mean like a TV remote) and doesn’t require memorizing key combinations. Thankfully, I think I’ve at least partially found what I’m looking for.

I’ll use WinLaunch as an always-accessible screen containing a page of important apps, and get a Kodi remote for navigation. I just need something that simulates arrow keys, Enter, and Esc (I think those are the keys) and I can easy get to anything I need. Or if I don’t find a good remote, I can get a Flirc USB adapter and some small cheap IR remote.

Do it right and you don't have to press any key combinations. I have a double alt-tab bound to ' , ' on a secondary keyboard that is only used for macros. You could do the same thing with your mini-keyboard.

Is there a way to use Instagram without signing up? I want to see stuff but it puts up stupid "gotta sign in" stuff even if the URLs work directly.
i always open new tabs, when you're hovering the cursor on the pics/videos then you can click the mousewheel to do that.

if the profile doesnt show up at all, then theres something limiting you with a cooldown.

Any good resources to learn system design / software architecture? I'm primarily interested in learning how to design all these boring services that businesses want to pay big bucks for.
I am aware of the boar book but I wanted to check out some other learning materials and my searches return either paid courses of quality unknown or pajeet tutorials that are simply awful (and for some reason they're all hellbent about explaining how DNS works, I've seen this at least three times, what the fuck?). This search has been quite a frustrating experience and I'm no longer sure if I just suck at looking for this stuff or whether the whole thing is a giant scam designed to sell overpriced courses.

Old books, if the system you are interested is from the 60s, read a book on it from the 60s. You probably don't need a physical one, there are copies of books all over the place. With specific examples I could help you find one.
Alternatively you can learn a bunch by simply reading the standards document if its something IEEE put out.

First thing I would point to for accessing Social Media sites without having to login or any other bullshit are frontends. 3 notable frontends for Instagram are Imginn, Picuki, and Proxigram. Of course, you're never gonna get 1 to 1 functionality with these frontends like you would using the actual website but that's just how it is these days.

Seconding Imginn. It's good for 95% of use cases. The site does go down or malfunction every once in a while, but the issues are fixed within an hour or so.

So, does anyone know how to quiet a laptop fan? I've used compressed air and tried changing the settings, but it still hasn't gone back to the level it used to run at.
Most times the noise is coming from the bearings after they start to wear.
Your best option may be to replace the fan.

Before this, try opening up the laptop and checking the heatsink fins and fan for obstructions.
