Megathread Non-binary genders / Enbies - When Male and Female Aren't Special Enough

Good to know that straight girls treat LGBT as some sort of exclusive club they have to fake their way into via mental gymnastics.

Like, to what extent do non-binary genders exist? I mean, in my country, a teen celebrity died two years ago, and in their suicide note, they said that a big reason why they wanted to kill themselves was that they couldn't bring themselves to tell the entire world they were non-binary. (I know their parents said that the public should stay away from their kid's suicide notes, but it's too late TBH. They were out there in the public eye.) Do you suppose all of it was really because of that, or was it more because of their angst that they couldn't tell the world they liked girls? They were young, maybe they were just going through a phase?

Actually, the fact that they were nonbinary and queer seemed more like just a passing mention; like they were just getting it out. They didn't really explicitly say in the suicide note that it was because of being unrecognized as nonbinary, though for the bit mentioned towards their parents, they did say "I wish you would have noticed" but I'm assuming that's a mention of depression, and not the "trans" bit, considering it's brought up a few paragraphs down. And considering they did have such a following (not just of fans, but so many good friends) that supported them and their gender identity.

Maybe I'm under analyzing. I do believe to an extent that people can be genuinely "nonbinary," but I feel that's a very small majority. And for that to be one of the main reasons to commit suicide? Unless the dysphoria was that severe, I don't believe that would be the case.
Heres the note http://pinoytrending.altervista.org/suicide-letter-of-julia-buencamino-circulating-on-social-media/

From what I understand legit dysphoria is extremely unpleasant to the point of making some people suicidal. Which makes tumblrinas treating being trans as a quirky fashion statement even worse.

I have a personal sorta-lolcow that I've kinda been holding back from posting about seeing as she's not a crazy tumblrina who hates white people, or straight people. I've even interacted with her on YT and she's friendly enough, but she got into tumblr fashion/melanie martinez and adopted a VERY special identity that to be honest I didn't even know had been coined yet.

I've actually been following this person on social media for a while as her comedy and style appealed to me, until she uploaded the above to her "spare" channel about 'pangender'

Now I've never heard of this and instead of being neither or both genders, you are ALL THE GENDERS
I mean I would take her seriously but I also follow her on insta when she came out on there too. She doesn't have any body dysphoria, but she said (and I quote from her insta): "i feel the same every day no matter what I look like. That's what makes me pangender as opposed to genderfluid. I don't go through feminine or masculine periods I just always feel like me"
Apologies in advance, I can't re-size the pictures without the text screwing around

So first off, she's so unsure of her identity that she's having people choose her "gender expression"... But that would be based on what she wants, not what other people 'vote' for.
Then the person who is sadly no longer on insta asked "shouldn't it be based on how you feel?" because that's the sole basis for even genderfluids flip-flopping between genders every day.

It's literally because she wants to have a "balance" between gender presentations AKA DRAG in her case, though this was short lived as she only tried to pass as a boy a few times in the following months, but that's about it.
Drag queens aren't women. Drag kings aren't men. They may transition after doing drag and realised they feel more comfortable as a man or woman.
Dressing in stereotypically masculine clothes does not make you a boy, or some third gender, or as she says in her video "all the genders" (all 76?)

She also uploaded a video called "pansexual problems" to her main channel.
Now personally I don't know about pansexuality as I feel like "sexuality" is only limited to two sexes. Male and Female.
For arguments sake, let's say there are more than two genders; however people only have male and female genitalia. No matter how many genders there are there are still only two solid, 100% biological sexes; and I'd include "intersex", however that's an anomaly that applies to a small percentage of the population (0.05% to be realistic), and most intersex people (i'm going by people I know personally) choose to live as male or female I believe and don't like being used as an excuse for nonbinary genders even existing. Besides, nobody has said about only being attracted to intersex people nor do i know of a term for that if it's a thing.
I mean if you're having sex with someone, they usually have either MALE or FEMALE anatomy.

Pangender... I just can't.

Because then you have to flagellate yourself for being cis all the time instead of being able to lord your gender over people to make them bow to your whims.

Which one would you rather go with?

I knew a pan girl in high school. She was a transfer from a more liberal side of the state. Would walk around with a wool beret hat thing on her head. She said she was pansexual and pangender. People told her she was a fucking idiot, and she had a breakdown, called her mom, and signed out. Never saw her again.

That was 2010. That was when it was just beginning to be a thing.

I (kind of) get why pansexual is a thing. Pangender is just stupid. How can you feel all the genders when 95% of them are made up? Oh, so you like cosplaying as a boy at the mall sometimes. Big fucking deal, you ain't special.

Dude from what I've seen she isn't even "enjoying" it. She ASKED people to make the choice for her.

Like this is beyond "no dysphoria". This is admitting she have no dysphoria and she doesn't even feel like the other gender to any extent. And that's obvious as she hasn't dressed "as a boy" since last year.

"i did order some boy's clothes, like i bought some boy's jeans" AND THEN 5 SECONDS LATER CONTRADICTS HERSELF "you can wear whatever the fuck you want anyway because clothes don't have a gender"
Now i would say that in her defense "boys" clothing is tailored to male bodies. However I don't think she saw it that way as whenever people say clothing doesn't have a gender and then dress "like a boy" they're walking contradictions. She's one of those people that thinks wearing clothing stereotypically worn by men makes her a man/"male presenting", despite preaching that clothing isn't gendered and "gender is a social construucttt!"

Come to think of it, if genderfluid were a real thing, wouldn't it be an absolute nightmare? Imagine your gender identity constantly, uncontrollably fluctuating. You'd be confused and miserable all the time. "Genderfluid" tumblrites, however, just use it as an excuse to show off their wardrobes and get more likes and reblogs.

Exactly.
though some of the people against it pretty much have lolcow behaviour. I mean i get it, you don't think it's a thing and you don't want them thought policing and changing your language or whatever the fuck, but you're going to broadcast it on youtube trying to thought police people into no longer identifying as genderfluid... Won't lie, that's kinda autistic, I doubt some words on the internet from someone with a youtube account and a microphone are going to stop them and if anything it gives them more asspats and if the topic is left alone the idea of nonbinary will fuck off and die, and weed out the actual dysphorics from the attention seekers.

Now with this video I get the message of it and I'm not dead against it. He debunks the idea of being genderfluid really well and puts it into words way better than I ever could.
The only beef i have with this that puts it in the sort of "you're stupid" stage is when the dude says "nobody cares what you identify as" (which I can't say is strictly speaking true... a lot of people dislike genderfluid people for being genderfluid alone)- and by "nobody cares" you'd assume he included himself, yet he's going on a tirade debunking it and telling people why it's fake.... But you know, he doesn't care ;)

In a way it's kinda contradictory; saying nobody cares/i don't care if you say you're an attack helicopter or some shit, but making a 4 minute video dedicated to debunking it is definitely not caring what people identify as... okay. Makes sense.
You could argue "well he means it doesn't matter if you identify as a carrot but whoever does shouldn't expect to be treated better than anyone else because of a victim complex" And I totally agree, but if he apparently does not care (as he's told people who disagree with him I think. I read the comments to see if anyone got mad at him), why make a whole video trying to debunk it?

There's a big difference between "i think you need to stop language policing me and make me use anything other than "he", "she" and "they" because of your gender, but I won't knock you for identifying as genderfluid/nonbinary/etc" and "i don't care about what you identify as.... but i care enough to tell you to stop it"

Edited for grammar and dyslexia level mistakes because I can't english.... I've had to edit this three times for grammar/spelling and I'm stone cold sober I promise

Being a part of a "non-binary" gender is often the height of being a Special Snowflake.

If you're living in blissful ignorance and don't know what this means, basically, a "non-binary" gender is a gender that breaks the confines of "feminine and Masculine". What the hell that's supposed to mean is beyond me, but people who identify as "non-binary" are some of the funniest unwittingly funny people on Tumblr.

Here's a few examples of "non-binary" genders on Tumblr

Here's a bunch of "non-binary" related blogs I stumbled upon:

W8, gender is a social construct but it's also a spectrum and we can make one up? Okay, not contradictory at all.

Gender is a social construct we made up to apply labels to our children, those labels of course being male and female.

To further elaborate, male and female fit on what is referenced as a binary system, having two endpoints. Nonbinary means you identify off the spectrum.

I'll draw a picture to explain.

Basically enbies float over the spectrum because they are gods

Gender (a set of roles depending on your sex and varying from culture to culture) is. Biological sex isn't. There even was a time where trans activists accepted this. In the past the trans community as a whole and its relationship to the l, b and g was different. They also differentiated between transsexuals who where few in number and mostly gay men/lesbian women and transvestites or crossdressers aka fetishists or just men who liked wearing womens clothing.

Then the whole gender shit started and it all went downhill from there.

I sorta realized why I find the nonbinary trend particularly distasteful. You guys are probably familar with Chuunibyou:
A Japanese slang term which roughly translates to "Middle School 2nd Year Syndrome". People with chuunibyou either act like a know-it-all adult and look down on real ones, or believe they have special powers unlike others.

This is a common stage in growth; for most people, it happens--you guessed it--around the 2nd year of middle school (Grade 8 in Japan).
I knew a couple of people like this in middle school, who claimed to have special powers or origin stories. In one case a girl pulled myself and another girl aside, took a deep breath, and told us that prior to moving to our school, she'd gotten caught up in working for an international drug dealer, and was now undercover at our school.
She wasn't a chronic liar or had any other obvious mental issues, I don't think the girl herself believed it and deep down I don't think she truly expected us to believe it, but it puts one in an awkward position where you like the person enough to not call them out, so you just entertain the obvious delusion like "wow, I had no idea, that's so crazy" and "what did you do after ____ happened" etc. Same thing with the people who were claiming powers, you just sort of quietly nod and avoid the topic if you can. In those cases they probably believed it a little bit, since coincidences happen often enough for most people to think magic and prayers work anyway.
That kind of awkwardness around interaction is how I feel about people coming out as nonbinary. Everyone with eyes can see that they are, have been, and will always been, cis women (it's usually cis women), but you like them enough to go along with whatever they say they are, or at least want to avoid conflict. It feels wrong, like lying, being incongruent with reality. Plus unlike regular chuunibyou they have the backing of the powerful SJW movement and are even able to get adults involved in making sure everyone uses the right pronouns, so it must be absolute crack for people wanting to differentiate themselves from everyone else and make themselves more special.
That said I think it's possible nonbinary is real but it's like 1% of the people actually claiming to be it.
