Megathread Non-binary genders / Enbies - When Male and Female Aren't Special Enough

This is the thing that blows my mind, their warped idea of what dysphoria is, and claiming to have it because of the warped definition they've learned online. They only have "social dysphoria"- which does have roots in gender dysphoria, because it makes you think "i'm not enough of a man/woman for anyone else, i'm not enough of a man/woman, oh god, help". But they don't see it like that, their idea of social dysphoria is "I don't pass well enough and get misgendered"- it doesn't reduce them to thinking their efforts are not enough because the world still sees them as the wrong gender, and then "oh god this body i was cursed with". Their idea of social dysphoria is not dysphoria at all. They just want to yell at people for misgendering them, and that's what social dysphoria is to them, instead of what it usually is, which is the very real, super awkward, and potentially sickness/gender dysphoria-inducing thoughts that happen when someone addresses you incorrectly through no fault of their own.

They think any other form of dysphoria (which isn't social) is hating yourself. They think you have to be upset 24/7 to have dysphoria. Dysphoria is not self hate. Sure, it sucks, but it's not hating yourself through and through. Life is still enjoyable. They decide that you don't need dysphoria, because you don't have to hate yourself, but that's not what dysphoria is. This in and of itself proves they don't know anything about being trans or dysphoria, especially if they're getting the definition incorrect (on purpose? i dunno), and then using that incorrect definition to claim you don't need dysphoria.

Exactly. That's what pisses me off. Then again, these are the same assholes who automatically label F. Scott Fitzgerald as gay because the guy had Hemingway look at his dick after Zelda emasculated him. They twist anything around to fit their views, honestly and it's annoying.

This whole nonbinary thing honestly confuses me.
Tumblr claims to be against gender roles, y'know, "clothes don't have gender" and all that, but once someone doesn't fit those apparently non-existent gender roles they go "well, guess i'm not fully female/male anymore!".
It's almost as if they don't even know what they're talking about

I still don't get the trans masc thing. I've tried to look it up and it's all confusing. They're female but mostly present as male and lean towards male, yet don't get the work for it?

Trans masc is essentially "I want you to refer to me with male pronouns, but I don't actually want to live as an icky boy." Swap in "female" and "girl" and you get trans fem.

Ah, I get it. The "I have dysphoria but I look good in a bikini" person claims to be trans masc. Now it makes sense. This person also desperately wants to be some posh gay boy too. It's honestly weird.

Fuck I hate these little shits

This just makes me glad that Youtube didn't exist to immortalize my cringey youth years, because some of these people will probably look back when they're older and regret filming these videos.

"Please stop purposely misgendering me"- or maybe they're misgendering you because you still look female, ya fucking twat.

I don't see that many "transfeminine" men other than the ones you see on insta like Jacob Tobia, Jeffrey Marsh and a smaller ig user called Laiden. I don't really see much mention of dysphoria from them and I think it's a fashion thing. When i first came out I thought their styles were pretty cool but now I can't really see them as much other than a group of guys who just don't subscribe to gender roles and wear makeup and shave their legs.

I'm all for men wearing makeup, some of them do look pretty good, and can do makeup better than most women I know. The thing is, though, men can wear makeup without claiming to be the opposite gender or a "third gender". There's people like Mannymua, James Charles, and Jeffree Star just to name a few who are very out there on youtube. It's not an uncommon thing, but I think a few people (snowflakes) see it as "i'm not a real man because I wear makeup" like yo if you don't have dysphoria, you still are a dude. Men wearing makeup is okay, and if you think men who wear makeup are a third gender, I'm sorry but that is kinda sexist.

I swear the trans masc person I've encountered on Tumblr are just doing the trans masc title because they're a woman, but they want to be some posh gay fancy boy so much that they just take the title since they don't want to do anything beyond that. So what can they do? Get a boy name, look boyish and call themselves trans masc.

I can't even do the mental gymnastics on trans masculine. You can't "transition" to masculine. There's no transition, just dressing differently and cutting your hair. You don't even need to change your name as you can be a butch woman.

It's a bunch of bullshit, it's like "masculine of center"- literally for women who lean towards the more butch side of gender expression, but want to hold onto the "but I'm a woman" card whenever they get called on anything.

That's exactly why I had so much trouble grasping the trans masculine thing. How does that make one trans when they don't even transition? It's legit dressing up.

I looked that term up.

Oh. Yeah, that's legit every trans masc person on Tumblr. Still the same damn hair. Seems more like a fashion thing than anything else.

No love for drag kings these days.
It's a shame, a lot of them are pretty decent makeup artists and can do great performances, the thing is that I don't really think there ever actually has been, except for the early days.

I think Rupaul (who presents drag race) is against drag kings on his show, though I don't know if the competition is strictly for drag queens. I'm not a SJW by any means, however, I think drag kings being on the show too may showcase the larger drag community that is out there. A fair few of the queens on the show, like Chad Michaels are very into the idea. I can't remember what Rupaul himself thinks of drag kings, I remember seeing an interview on it but i don't remember. I don't think he's fond of them from what I do remember. I mean, at the end of the day, drag is drag and there shouldn't be many quarrels about it? Then again I just watch the show every so often. I don't know every detail of it.

Drag king shows aren't as common as drag queen shows AFAIK, there's less drag kings out there I think, though I could name a few that I follow on insta. I mean in some places the drag scene is literally nonexistent, and i guess for drag queens and drag kings, it'd be harder to find any work depending on the area, and more likely than not, you find one, and they'd be looking for drag queens.

Found an interview here with RuPaul where at the end he talks about drag kings and bio queens. He explains why he doesn't like bio queens, but he doesn't seem to have anything against drag kings--just that they're different than drag queens and wouldn't fit the tone of Drag Race, which is true.

That said, Tumblr hates the idea of drag, because HOW DARE something as sacred and beautiful as gender identities be mocked and made fun of. And god forbid a show or movie ever make a cross-dressing gag; that's LITERALLY killing trans people.

I get how he doesn't like bio queens. It's not actually drag? I mean if a woman were to dress as Frank N Furter, maybe, as they're dressing as a man, who is dressed as a woman (dragception?). I think that's the only exception. I see where Rupaul is coming from on drag kings and drag queens and their differences, even though I see drag queens and kings as one in the same. It's still crossdressing. Drag is based on crossdressing. However I get how drag kings wouldn't really have much to do in an "america's next top model" type scenario, which is exactly what drag race is.
Trans men doing drag is a whole different can of worms that I don't think is necessary to open right now.

Drag queens and drag kings aren't killing trans people, and they're not harmful in any way, honestly crossdressers are great people from my experience (though they can be catty as hell). Only issue is that a lot of trans people don't really think it's the best choice for people who cross-dress for fun to use words like tranny, because then it does become almost like they're poking fun at trans people if that makes sense. Tranny and crossdresser are not one in the same, and people who cross-dress as a hobby using the term kinda makes it seem like they're conflating the two, and I can see how people would take that the wrong way.

Tumblr must have had a field day when Laverne Cox played Frank N Furter in the Rocky Horror remake... I mean, Frank N Furter is a man dressing as a woman.... Getting a trans woman to play a character that is a male transvestite. I think they changed the pronouns (but that just makes one of the bigger parts of the movie make no sense) and clearly Laverne saw no problems with it, but I'm certain tumblr must have found some issue there as tumblr often does.

I barely remember any of them caring after it premiered.
