Megathread Non-binary genders / Enbies - When Male and Female Aren't Special Enough

At this point I think just euthanising anyone who uses tumblr is the humane thing to do.

Don't forget this.

Apparently the bearded guy is her boyfriend. Lmao
Even though there is no hell, there's a special place there for feminine, white, in-shape and conventionally attractive heterosexual women who have only ever been in conventional opposite sex relationships, who claim to be "non-binary" so that they can call themselves "queer" and get oppression street cred.

They aren't as bad overall as MtF AGPs, but my god they are real contenders for most toxic trannie subclass.

The funny thing is that 20 years ago they'd have been did-I-tell-you-I'm-bisexual, the kind who only date or marry men but absolutely won't shut up about how queer they are.

Being white and straight and comfortable used to just be uncool, but now it means you're a potential political enemy of the cool kids. The easiest identity to claim will always have its appeal.

Lily Gladstone Is Not Two-Spirit. They Just Use Rolling Pronouns

“Two-Spirit” refers to specific cultural roles within Native communities; it is not the same as being Indigenous and nonbinary.

Under the Bridge star Lily Gladstone took to X on Thursday to clarify and educate people about the intersection of their indigeneity and queerness. Gladstone, who is Blackfeet and Nimíipuu, told People during a December 2023 interview they use she/they pronouns. Some people online took that to mean the actor is Two-Spirit, which she is not.

“As a Two-Spirit person, where and when did Lily Gladstone say they were part of our community?,” Yuè Begay, a Diné Two-Spirit organizer and advocate, wrote on X. “Y’all took some words they said and 🏳️ academic’d it to mean Two Spirit.”

“She’s absolutely right. I wasn’t aware of this but I found what she’s talking about and it bothers me too,” Gladstone wrote, resharing Begay’s post. “Two Spirit is not a catch all term for 🌈; it’s way more specific […] I’m not Two Spirit: I use nonbinary pronouns.”

For those who are unfamiliar, Two-Spirit is not a term that is interchangeable with nonbinary. It is an umbrella term that specifically refers to Indigenous gender variant people who hold specific roles in their communities across Turtle Island (North America) and Abya Yala (South America).

Prior to colonization, gender-variant people were often revered in their communities, commonly responsible for maintaining sacred traditions — but centuries of European imperialism and persecution forced many Two-Spirit people to carry out their duties in secret. The term Two-Spirit was coined in the 1990s by Native activists as a way to describe these specific identities and roles under one banner, from Diné Nádleehí to Quechua Qariwarmi. The phrase itself is a translation of an Anishinaabemowin term “niizh manidoowag,” which directly translates to “two spirits.”

Because Two-Spirit refers to specific cultural roles within Native communities, it is not the same as being Indigenous and trans, or Indigenous and nonbinary, or Indigenous and queer. While Two-Spirit people can also be trans, queer, or nonbinary, being Two-Spirit is its own category of identity. It’s also important to note, non-Native people cannot be Two-Spirit, as it is a culturally specific identity.

Just because Gladstone is Indigenous and uses rolling pronouns does not mean they are Two-Spirit. That Gladstone had to correct this to the public is an important reminder to never assume someone’s identity.
One of those really white Indians from Killers of the Flower Moon decided she needed more attention, so she started using 'rolling pronouns', which I think is some kind of fat joke.

"Y'all" "reclaiming"
Why are you trying to act black if you're so proud of your heritage?

Anna "Ash" Krieder doesn't produce much content anymore, but she's such a total bitch I like to watch her tumblr anyway.

Having terminology to describe yourself and your experiences can be a profound relief after a lifetime of feeling broken and invisible.

I say this as someone who collects underused labels! I’m an ace bi/demiromantic enby, for crying out loud.

However, there is an infuriatingly common impulse to restrict queer labels to one very SPECIFIC meaning and not allow room for interpretation. Which, as an enby for whom a lot of queer labels don’t make sense, is. Just. REAL. FRUSTRATING.

Just now, I forced myself to walk by a post defining biromantic as “attraction to two specific genders”, which is NOT what I mean when I say it. I call myself bi because I’m attracted to a group of related genders that definitely excludes A LOT of other genders. To whit, I’m attracted to men, trans mascs, and the occasional stone butch with incredible biceps. There’s a lot of wibbly wobbly gender wender in my zone of attraction that defies specificity.

And honestly, as a bi enby, that’s one of the reasons I gravitate toward bi as a label. Not everyone means the same thing when they use it, and that’s FINE.

I don’t want or need another microlabel meaning attraction to men, trans mascs, and the occasional stone butch with incredible biceps. I don’t need another word that conveys “attracted to some genders but definitely not all of them”. Bi is a perfectly good word with lots of different usages, and that’s FINE. We don’t need to invent unique words for every single permutation of adult sexuality and gender attraction combos.

In case you've never met Anna, she has a powerful need to define herself as a not-woman.

Anna continues to be insane.

if you say any queer identity is not part of the lgbtq+ community, including but not limited to people with neopronouns, bi people who just happen to be in a straight relationship, and anyone on the ace or aro spectrum, i curse you with the gayest tapeworm you’ve ever seen
okay this but also

RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN TWO “OPPOSITE GENDER” PEOPLE ARE NOT FUCKING STRAIGHT IF ONE OR BOTH OF THEM ARE BI

IT’S NOT A FUCKING LIGHTSWITCH OKAY
It’s not like *flips switch* I’m dating a dude so I’m straight *flips switch* dating a woman, so now I’m gay

Also, the level of fuckin ERASURE I get when people see my AFAB enby ass with my cis husband and daughter and go “look at that good family of straights”

Like HOW FUCKING DARE YOU

I am BI and also NOT A FUCKING WOMAN

My husband is ALSO BI

And my daughter is PRESUMED QUEER UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY

Nothing makes her chimp out harder than suggesting she's a straight woman. That poor kid.

Especially "presumed queer until proven otherwise', not simply "potentially queer". It almost seems like Anna would disappointed if the kid grew up to be a dreadful cishet.
She absolutely would. Among her other craziness, Anna likes to write homoerotic fiction. She demands everyone around her be some flavor of genderspecial and she kicked out her own mother for not playing along.

Anna continues to be insane.

Tumblr and its consequences have been a disaster for humanity. No but seriously it amazes me how internet communities like tumblr have made young people believe that there's nothing more boring and uncool than being heterosexual or non trans. As if coolness is something to consider when you question your sexuality or if you're a sex confused child.

Ah ha, catharsis.

Last February, I found out that I’d lost my ability to connect with my audience for publishing tabletop games, and my brain, being dumb and stupid, decided We Were Done Making Games Then. (I know it’s stupid. I don’t get it either.) I didn’t make a single thing that wasn’t for work for nearly six months.

Late August last year (not sure of the exact date), I said fuck that, and started making notes for a novel inspired by a friend’s weird, wild, and wonderful multiplayer journaling game about witches. It was finished before the end of the year, and after EXTENSIVE revisions is currently being queried with seven literary agents (not including the one who already rejected me).

AND NOW, I’ve just finished writing the last scene of a SECOND novel, a sequel, and it feels SO. GOOD.

I’d say I don’t know what demon of productivity possessed me, except that’s not true. It’s NICE pouring my energy into cozy stories about weirdos like me, who are too weird and broken to fit into any of the usual boxes we draw around sexuality and gender. It’s NICE writing honest depictions of mental illness and trauma fucking up people’s relationships, and having people find happy endings anyway. And it’s NICE writing meaningful, found family relationships that matter just as much as the romance. There’s so much completely unavoidable, awful, tedious bullshit in the world that I have to wrestle with as a trans person. It’s healing pouring my feelings about that into something positive.

Two novels in less than a year! Man. Now I just need someone to publish them so I can share these wholesome disaster bisexual dumbasses with the world.

(NGL, I also had a lot of fucking fun writing the smut. That was pretty good too.)

I may have mentioned this before, but Anna is a fag hag. She "lost her ability to connect with her audience for publishing tabletop games" when she decided to quit Twitter and couldn't crowd-fund anymore.
