I somewhat disagree. She has her college squad/employees, but there are a lot of younger creators that were heavily influenced by her style and frankly idolize her and she's good at networking with behind-the-scenes producers as well as creators at or above her level. She has clout in the scene and a loyal coterie of useful acquaintances and simps (plus Todd). Even after 4 years off YT, Lindsay still has over 6k paypigs funding her lifestyle just for access to her backlog. Plenty of people will ignore her bitchery and wokescold tendencies for a shot at one less degree of separation from e-fame.

ETA: Lindsay gained a lot of baby weight but it looks mostly gone now. Bet working that off as a SAHM to two toddlers (who can afford Ozempic) was also a deciding factor in the timing of her foray outside the Nebula hugbox.

Not making it up, it was from a chain of negative Lindsay gossip on Tumblr. There's quite a happening #Anti-Lindsay Ellis over on Tumblr dating back all the way to 2019:

I guess it's possible the Tumblr poster used "mooncricket" as substitute for a more offensive anti-black slur they didn't feel comfortable typing out. At the same time, Lindsay did grow up in the outskirts of a rural Appalachian area (Johnson City) - a city known for holding massive white supremacist rallies in public parks throughout the 90's. Not to mention, Lindsay is from a genuine Klan bloodline (heck, she actually defended her relatives' participation in the KKK! They only put burning crosses on people's lawns that "deserved it" )

TLDR, I'm going to go out on a limb & say Lindsay knowing obscure racial slurs for black people isn't something too outrageous.
