It looks worse when it's laying on its side

That console design is terrible. The white part will yellow horribly over time. Can it even be put horizontally?

Also, only 1 usb port is worrying. The pro rightly corrected the base ps4 by adding a third port in the back. Dont know what they are thinking here. Bluetooth?

That console design is awful. I have limited space and I have to stack the console I already have.
The ps3 was a step back from the ps2 for the same reason and now it's happening again with the ps5.

There's stuff in the back to act as connectors.

The PS2 now looks fan-fucking-tastic and even back in the day I remember thinking it looked too bland

The PS4 rhombus looked good too, and even the PS3 had a certain sense of style, even with it looking a little gaudy. PS3 superslims were great though. what the fuck happened at Sony

The absolute state of Sony

How have toon shaders gotten worse over the years? Look at the outlines :story:

The industrial designer who did most of the work for playstation, all the way back to the original controller, left sony to make his own firm. I'd bet this PS5 design comes from some UK firm.

The price they're aiming for is 450 with the Disc drive and 400 for the digital only edition. This is apparently what's been leaked.

It kinda seems like your adamant in defending this, are you gonna acknowledge some of the consoles flaws or just defend it?
The design looks fucking weird but I seriously doubt they're doing 1 USB port.

The front part is what people use to charge their controllers and modern tech designers want everything to look fucking pretty and resemble steve jobs. So yeah they shove all ports out of sight.

No not the USB ports, the console in general I mean.

That's not bad for a brand new console these days, but considering that selection of games they showcased, the backwards compatibility with PS4 games better be on fucking point. I know they mentioned some games won't carry over, and the fact that only NOW do PS4 games have to be backwards compatible going forward is a little concerning.

Like, we already know if an Xbox One can play it, the Xbox Series X can play it. So we know you can play Morrowind and Fallout New Vegas on XSX, but not like, Jet Set Radio Future or Eternal Sonata. Backwards compatibility on PS5 is still up in the air, isn't it?

I'm fine with the weird ass design I'm not going to be looking at the thing while I'm playing.

I own a fucking 32x,Model 1 Genesis, and Sega CD combo. I threw out wanting shit to be a furniture piece a long time ago.

Only thing I had in mind is what others have brought up, the white plastic is gonna dirty up and scuff up like a bitch, and ventilation might be an issue, the last two generations of consoles have had these fucking venting issues.

If nothing else the Demon's Souls remake has finally been announced, ending what feels like a thousand years of cursed leaks and rumors. It also necessitated me downing the rest of the bottle of Smirnoff I had in accordance with my bingo card, but my liver can suffer on it's own later. Overall the best reveal in generations even if that isn't saying much.

I think that Microsoft is going to slowly transition to PC via subscription services like Game Pass and eventually abandon the Xbox brand, and if that ends up being the case then I see Sony's dual-console approach being the Apple-style endgame to console manufacturing. Until that day though I have no idea who the market for this thing is; everything looks like a late PS3/early PS4 title and the system looks like a melted brick that will inevitably sound like a jet engine taking flight any time something more advanced than Pong is played on it.
