breaks my fucking heart, Abe deserves much better than gender confused dolphin furries

I don't get people complaining about lack of games at launch. I don't think a single system has had many at launch. This is one reason we never buy new consoles in this house. They have so few games, it ends up collecting dust for a year.

Besides being "furry shit", the trailer for Goodbye Volcano High hits all of the "gay twee indie garbage" cliches. Though remember how much Life is Strange was made fun of when it was announced. It was everything everyone predicted it would be, and it was a massive success. Goodbye Volcano High will be the same shit.

Games like Life is Strange and so on star casts of unlikable sociopaths that the most irritating people on the Internet talk about how much they relate to. Plus there's very little actual gameplay which is also a big part of the appeal.

The Xbox Series X may be the closest to a great console launch. Cyberpunk 2077, Watch_Dogs: Legion, Yakuza, Halo: Infinite. I know they're not exclusive, but there's something for everybody. Backwards compatibility off the gate extends that launch as well.

The design looks fucking weird but I seriously doubt they're doing 1 USB port.

The front part is what people use to charge their controllers and modern tech designers want everything to look fucking pretty and resemble steve jobs. So yeah they shove all ports out of sight.
In that case, I don't see why they don't just have a little door like the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, or most of the mini consoles.

Life is Strange was also released long before people got sick of the alphabet people pushing everyone around, and didn't even overtly come off as a game for total faggots in its marketing. They also gave away the first episode all over the place, and eventually made it free. I'm sure having a major publisher, Square Enix, helped a lot too. So it never got the same laughing stock status right off the bat like Goodbye Volcano High's getting right now. I don't think a game that overtly looks like some kind of furry sexpest tumblr fantasy is gonna do nearly as well as Life is Strange.

Hell, I've had the first episode of Life is Strange in my Steam library for ages from a free key I got somewhere, and I never knew it was an alphabet people game until the sequel came out and I saw people pointing that out.

The PS5 is ugly but the games they showed off look pretty solid. I won't day one buy it or anything but it's a pretty good display of games for the first "not E3" showcase.

But that Dino furry game, looks like "Night in the Woods" but with an even weirder type of furry, hopefully no one kills themself this time, but we'll have to see.

More like Sony has you by the balls version. No offline play ever. If you don't have internet or the wifi/ethernet stops working, its essentially a paper weight.

If this is true, then this is DOA

Did Sony not learn anything from Microsoft's mistakes when they showed what they originally wanted the XBOne to be? (I.E. always online, DRM, camera/mic always watching/listening, etc...)

Or are they blatantly copying Google by making their own version of Stadia to appeal to the hipster faggots that aren't really gamers?

That shit tends to break easily.

Anyone who owns a trinitron can attest to that. I've had to replace the door to my wii as well.

The Digital Only isn't a standard for the US market, it's going to be a minority option(you're looking at places like South America, China, and Saudia Arabia where digital only would have a major foothold). It works the same as digital games do now, where you buy them and install them, it's not a mandatory always online thing. Because the PS4 and PS5 will still be using the same store. There's no added hoops to jump through.

The digital only thing is viewed as a way to combat gray market buying. Like importing the North American versions of games to other countries for cheaper because games are insanely expensive in some places. That way they get to regulate the price more evenly through their own digital storefront. Because you either have price gouging or people selling counterfeits alongside legitimate stuff or having counterfeits pose as legitimate.

You realize that NISA has 4 big games coming in November alone that are for both PS4 and PS5, most notably cold steel 4.

Like Trails of Azure is already set to be forwards compatible with the PS5 as does it's Sequel. Ys9 is also one of those games.

You will almost never get RPGs at launch or shown at a launch event unless it's a port(or it''s going to be released years later). The PS2 had Summoner for an exclusive launch window title, the PS3 had none, the PS4 had none. Hell the PS1 didn't start getting RPGs until Final Fantasy 7.

An interesting tidbit that's arisen is that the disc-free version may not be available in the US and if it is, it will be in extremely limited amounts. It's apparently intended for another market (most likely China or South America).

I was talking about launch titles regardless of quality, and the PS5 presentation show did nothing but cementing the idea the Playstation brand is really catering to Americans now (and not to forget the chinese too). The PS2 had Dead or Alive 2, Dynasty Warriors 2, Street Fighter EX3, Tekken as launch japanese titles and Final Fantasy X was hyped up back then. Even the PS3 had a Gundam game for launch and there was a tech demo of FF7 during the E3 to show off the hardware capabilities. Needless to say about the old handhelds themselves.

There is also the problem that Sony California gave the middle finger to the third-party japanese devs (especially the small ones) two years ago with its own reviewing board that could suddenly decide, on a drop of a hat, make the japs edit their games for 'unknown reasons' even if it was previously given the green light beforehand.

Sony didn't give the finger to smaller Japanese devs. there was a fuckload of stuff just flat out made up about the censorship apocalypse that never came about. They interviewed one of the devs to Nekopara which was just a VN(and this was before the game even released) and the ching chong just posted a bunch of alarmist shit. So after the game came out the PS4 version sold the most and months later they released the sequel on the Playstation 4 with no issues.

You're going by a bunch of CENSORED GAMING/OAG bullshit that never came to pass.

The reality is Nothing actually changed. Even PQube the publisher of many smaller games in the west is still putting out games for the PS4. Aquaplus is even still making Playstation 4 Exclusives. After that initial wave of stories there was no fallout from any of the smaller or larger publishers or developers.

The PS2 launch you did get a ton of fighters but that's more of a sign of the problems with modern fighting franchises than it is with Sony. Fighting games are more laden with terrible businesses practices of the Developers which is why many series fell by the wayside and out of popularity. Also the development time has increased for many series(i.e. Guilty Gear) since they're wanting to keep the high bar set by the previous games. King of Fighters used to get a yearly release but that was deemed not viable during the PS3/Xbox360 era and they slowed down on them.

Sony still lacks an exclusive online killer app and Twisted Metal would be perfect for that.
The audience just isn't there. Car combat is deemed inferior to FPS because driving controls while shooting has always felt cumbersome apparently.

I wonder if they'll show the Harry Potter RPG. The leaks looked pretty cool at least from a gameplay perspective

Also more Baldurs Gate 3 stuff to be revealed tomorrow. I'm excited, dare I say hyped for this game.

I wonder if the lack of excitement has to do with age or backlog? I remember being way more excited for the PS3 and PS4, but now that I'm in my 30's and have been able to buy whatever games I want on PC or PS4 I have a big backlog of stuff to get to that still looks awesome to play compared to the fairly boilerplate stuff that was teased yesterday. There's also the Xbox Game Pass waiting with a whole lot of stuff I could play for a weekend and throw away compared to paying ~$500 plus tax and $60 per game for better experiences I can get elsewhere.

Also, the Spiderman game teased yesterday was apparently a PS5 exclusive expansion to what is going to be a PS5 remaster to the original game. So I guess tally up another "remaster" for the list.
