This is something I keep hearing over and over again but I don't see it. Maybe I just follow different indie games than others, but I doubt it.
Yeah it was maybe a bit of an exaggeration on my end lol. I actually like roguelikes occasionally (as you can see from my pfp) but I think my point was more that a lot of the really big games in the indie scene tend to be almost as homogeneous as the AAA scene, so it's a bit worrisome that instead of changing for the better, it'll basically be one soulless group switching to another.
I have played plenty of good indie games though, so it's just my doomerism speaking and it probably wouldn't be as bad as I thought.
If there's any that stick out in your mind, let me know! I don't wanna sound like an annoying sperg and love trying out new shit.
Zero games at all, or just zero at E3?
Game wise, I actually think this year isn't too shabby! Though I think it may be because I'm an RPG slop man. I just started SMT V Vengeance today and absolutely loving it. Visions of Mana looks great and I'm pumped for Metaphor Re:Fantazio. Earlier this year I played Granblue Fantasy Relink and thought it was a fun time.
Princess Peach Showtime is also good for a non RPG game
On the western end Warhammer Rogue Trader looks good, but I'm not very familiar with Warhammer as a setting so I dunno how it is.
I feel like with Indie games I tend to forget they exist until they come out and then I grab em and love em, so I couldn't name any I'm specifically excited for this year. Next year I'm absolutely pumped for Mewgenics by Edmund McMillen, though.
New Doom also looks hype! But I'm admittedly a big fan of RPGs so it's the stuff that captures my interest, I try other stuff more based on friend reccomendations or personal interest.
