Disaster NYC’s ‘We’re With Colbert’ rally for late-night host is a bust with just 20 protesters.

What a joke.

A Big Apple rally in support of on-his-way-out “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert drew fewer than two dozen people Sunday — with even the NYPD cops on scene quickly calling it a day since most of the demonstrators left after just a few minutes.

Organizers said the “We’re With Colbert” gathering outside the CBS Broadcast Center on Manhattan’s West Side said it was meant to be part of a nationwide call for “integrity.”

“Our country is not perfect, never has been,” said the event’s organizer, who would only identify himself as Matt and said his nickname is “Slim.”

“But we’ve always had the First Amendment, and now Mango Mussolini is trying to take that from us,” he said, referring to a derogatory nickname for President Trump.

CBS said declining viewership and diminishing profits led to its decision to end the show in May 2026, effectively firing the 61-year-old talk-show host Colbert — but critics claim the network bowed to pressure from Trump.

CBS’s parent company finalized an $8.4 billion merger with Skydance Media shortly after Colbert was told he was on his last season. The merger required federal approval.

Colbert has also been among the top talk-show hosts who routinely roast Trump.

“This is a First Amendment attack,” a protester who refused to give her name said of the closing-down of the show. “We can’t stand for that.”

Still, Colbert has also come under fire for featuring predominantly lefty-leaning guests.

According to the right-leaning group MRC NewsBusters, Colbert has had 176 liberal guests and only one Republican on his show since 2022.

Really hard to feel bad for these people when they waste millions of dollars to fuck around while preaching about how evil the other rich people are!

They're the good richers!! Give him millions, plz!! It's so sad that he's only gonna have tens of millions instead of hundreds of millions of dollars.

he was totally gonna donate to a friend's charity to show how hecking wholesome he is, honest!

He's not getting sent to gitmo, so what's stopping Colbert starting his own podcast/YouTube channel? That's what Conan O'Brien did after he abandoned network television and it seems to be going well for him.

Then again, Conan is a naturally charming and actually funny guy, so it might be an uphill struggle for a perpetually malding TDS retard like Colbert to stand out among the crowd of Leftists who he's conditioned to think and talk exactly like him.

I hate people getting censored, but if this was part of the CBS - Trump settlement, that has to be the easiest concession to a lawsuit ever.
Like I've said before, if Trump's settlement had anything to do with Colbert's firing, the question it affected was when, not if. CBS correctly figured that if they announced it now, they get the complainers dividing their focus and turning ire at Trump.

It really is the biggest problem. Colbert is incapable of turning off the smug attitude he has embedded in his brain. The only people who would watch him are other smug unlikable people.

I can't be assed to research it but I remember reading somewhere (ages ago) that Colbert purposely changed his voice from a southern accent so he didn't "sound like a hillbilly/redneck". Which just really tells you everything you need to know about him. He's a fake self hating weirdo.

What I find weird is I always thought his character was supposed to be a parody of a tradcon. Like during Occupy Wall Street he had that interview with some smelly hippies and while they were reciting their manifesto he was eating a huge steak. Now he seems like nothing but a talking head for whatever pre-approved opinions the left are pushing in current year. When did that shift happen?

Or was he always like this and it was less obvious back then because democrats and republicans both opposed Occupy because it fucked with their money (the only thing they actually care about)?

I just assume he had more clever writers who actually cared about how they delivered a joke rather than soapbox trendy progressiveness. Now they're afraid of doing anything other than safe NPC humor so the Colbert-bot just sticks to smug dumb ass mode

I couldn't tell you when the shift happened exactly. Aaaall the way back in the 00s I got a hate boner for Colbert when I found out he was a dick to the Ventures Bros creators.

That makes the most sense, and also explains why John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel et al are all equally insufferable. The second your priority switches from entertaining your audience to lecturing them the countdown clock on your career has started.

Do you think any of them looked at the crowd that showed up and had a moment of reflection that just maybe it wasn't being canceled because of Trump? Anybody who isn't in that particular camp already knew that Colbert's show is really only watchable to the whole "Resistance" crowd, which has completely dwindled since 2020. The only people who still think that Colbert may be culturally relevant at all are the Colbert watchers. It didn't matter how much they astroturfed this retard, his audience continued to shrink. I bet a good chunk of his remaining numbers come from people falling asleep at the TV.

If colbert starts his own youtube channel I think it will be as successful and popular as Don Lemons channel.

Cancelling an unfunny late night show is an “attack on the first amendment”. So is it just Colbert getting cancelled that’s an attack on free speech, or is it every time any show gets cancelled?
If someone I like gets cancelled its an attack on free speech, if its someone I don't like then nobody is entitled to have a platform to spread hate and maybe you should make your own TV network for your white supremacist hate show 💅

Yeah that's what he originally was, a parody of Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck and the various gimmicks they had on their shows. And it made sense and was kinda funny back in like 2005 when that type of humor was still relevant, and the aforementioned conservative pundits were popular.

That original concept got dropped because by like 2013 nobody was watching Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly and the cultural zeitgeist shifted to being libtard nonsense. And that's when Stephen Colbert just became Generic Democrat Talking Point Guy. John Oliver was on his show as Generic Democrat Talking Point Guy: Bad Teeth and IT'S CURRENT YEAR!!!!!! Edition.

Neocons were in charge during the Bush years so libs got to actually be the underdog — their favorite position to be in and how they always think of themselves — Colbert thrived in that role but he never made the transition into a character anyone wanted to watch during Obama leftoid cultural supremacy — then when Trump came in he again failed to transition into a new sort of parody — just became another poopypants pouty-faced potty-mouthed harridan, bitching in a late night skit about how you voted — no one wanted this.

This is why I think the writers room theory makes the most sense. It's like when people talking about video game studios falling off: they didn't fall off, all the people who made the good games left and now the studio exists in name only; staffed by contractors who don't give a shit because they won't be there in 6-12 months.
