Disaster NYC’s ‘We’re With Colbert’ rally for late-night host is a bust with just 20 protesters.

What a joke.

A Big Apple rally in support of on-his-way-out “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert drew fewer than two dozen people Sunday — with even the NYPD cops on scene quickly calling it a day since most of the demonstrators left after just a few minutes.

Organizers said the “We’re With Colbert” gathering outside the CBS Broadcast Center on Manhattan’s West Side said it was meant to be part of a nationwide call for “integrity.”

“Our country is not perfect, never has been,” said the event’s organizer, who would only identify himself as Matt and said his nickname is “Slim.”

“But we’ve always had the First Amendment, and now Mango Mussolini is trying to take that from us,” he said, referring to a derogatory nickname for President Trump.

CBS said declining viewership and diminishing profits led to its decision to end the show in May 2026, effectively firing the 61-year-old talk-show host Colbert — but critics claim the network bowed to pressure from Trump.

CBS’s parent company finalized an $8.4 billion merger with Skydance Media shortly after Colbert was told he was on his last season. The merger required federal approval.

Colbert has also been among the top talk-show hosts who routinely roast Trump.

“This is a First Amendment attack,” a protester who refused to give her name said of the closing-down of the show. “We can’t stand for that.”

Still, Colbert has also come under fire for featuring predominantly lefty-leaning guests.

According to the right-leaning group MRC NewsBusters, Colbert has had 176 liberal guests and only one Republican on his show since 2022.

At the height of GamerGate, and yes to my now chagrin I was a true believer at one point, I remember being at turns appalled and annoyed by dismissive terms like "Freeze Peach" the opposition used to toss around. Either they were legitimate totalitarians or they just didn't get it, I used to think to myself. I suppose it too optimistic to think at least some of them now might?

Speaking of Colbert and GG, I was still following the Colbert Report during the twilight of its years and they had Anita Sarkessian on. It was as softball as an interview could be to the point he asked her what her favorite game was and she couldn't name even one. She also didn't receive even slight ribbing over this.

There are people who claim Colbert got bad during his CBS stint but actual people who stayed with him on CC to the end could've seen the signs from a mile away.

I know this is a retarded thought but imagine if he suddenly came out and said Colbert the frothing at the mouth leftist was just a bit like his borat ass conservative character and we've been played for like 15 years. Also I miss when he just did good voice roles on adult swim.

Of course, he's a redditor.

Slim, get it? Because he's a fat twat with a camera.
Sorry, Matt. No matter how much you suck up to Colbert, he's not pulling you up out of the indie gutter into the establishment.
"This fictional character would totes agree with my political views."

“Two scoops too many” is the height of comedy, what a shame Colbert is getting cancelled.

It really is the biggest problem. Colbert is incapable of turning off the smug attitude he has embedded in his brain. The only people who would watch him are other smug unlikable people.

I can't be assed to research it but I remember reading somewhere (ages ago) that Colbert purposely changed his voice from a southern accent so he didn't "sound like a hillbilly/redneck". Which just really tells you everything you need to know about him. He's a fake self hating weirdo.
Yeah that's what he originally was, a parody of Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck and the various gimmicks they had on their shows. And it made sense and was kinda funny back in like 2005 when that type of humor was still relevant, and the aforementioned conservative pundits were popular.

That original concept got dropped because by like 2013 nobody was watching Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly and the cultural zeitgeist shifted to being libtard nonsense. And that's when Stephen Colbert just became Generic Democrat Talking Point Guy. John Oliver was on his show as Generic Democrat Talking Point Guy: Bad Teeth and IT'S CURRENT YEAR!!!!!! Edition.
Ironically, the blowhard conservatard asshole caricature Colbert used to play turned out to be more likable than Colbert himself is. Btw the reason he stopped doing the character was because Comedy Central prohibited it when he left that network for CBS (they apparently own “Stephen Colbert” the character).

It wasn’t like he was really different acting a parody of conservative talking heads, it was the same liberal comedian in the end. It’s just that the Colbert Report was actually amusing and didn’t take itself seriously. I still remember the segment where he mocked Wikipedia and encouraged his fanbase to vandalize the page on Elephants just to annoy Wikipedia jannies.

Every late night host was basically a liberal with Leno & Carson being more politically moderate. No one complained about David Letterman’s politics because you watched Letterman for Stupid Pet Tricks.
