Objectively good games you can't get into

Witcher 3 felt like work after I already put in 100+ hours into the previous games. By the time I got to Witcher 3 it felt just drawn out.
I got you, I could totally understand that. The games do tend to go on way longer than most others in the genre.

I have tried multiple times to get into sonic games. The ideas and mechanics of the original games seem to have more depth than mario, but the "sonic speed" appeal is ruined by the low field of view. It turns the concept of momentum based platforming, and instead rewards trial and error/level memorization. You cannot react to a spike pit, or a secret path, unless you're playing the game slowly and methodically, which is antithetical to the original design, and lowers your end score of the level.

I thought that this issue would get resolved when they made the jump from 2d to 3d. While it somewhat fixed the vision issue by changing from side scrolling to 3rd person adventure, dozens of other issues cropped up. I was sorely disappointed with all 3d titles except Forces, which seems like the devs knew their core audience were almost all people like Chris, and specifically designed the game around that audience in an almost self-aware way.

If you want a game that takes the mechanics of a sonic game, and actually does it right, play Marble Blast/Marble It Up. Those games are amazing to play and really perfect the original design philosophy of what sonic should have been.

Animal Crossing. I don't see the appeal and I find it boring. I played New Leaf and New Horizons and found it very... Mundane. Maybe because I was spoiled on Harvest Moon.
It's cottagecore, but somehow they felt like stripping features in New Horizon.

Yeah, an AC game with stripped features when it's all about basically just a cozy life. Talk about not knowing your core audience.

I am not keen on the series since I Played NL, NH and a bit of Pocket Camp. NL felt like it had more to it with events and certain buildings. I kind of miss things like the little city side in NL where all the shops were. I kinda miss features like Harriet the Poodle and where you could change the outside of the town hall. Having certain town themes on NH kind of makes the building stick out.

I didn't terraform much aside from making an elevated shine with waterfalls and Audie's house being on a mesa.

If you want to go fast and like FPS check out Q3 Defrag.

I should also mention the Monster Hunter series. I find it too difficult to play solo and I’m not willing to gather a group every time I want to play.
World and iceborne allow you to get two computer controlled players.

level up your Paleco and level up your Tailraiders. They will do sufficient damage and act as a distraction to the monster. They can also tame a small monster to act a third player. Paleco with Meowlatov Cocktail tends to spew a few hundred damage every second when it's active.

You can max out Tailraiders within a few minutes.

Also when a monster runs back to it's area to sleep you should tranq bomb and trap it so the fight ends safer and quicker. World now gives you Iceborne grade armor and weapons for Low Rank and High Rank so you can learn the game without dying to everything early on.

You can actually finish all the achievements and trophies to World by just wearing that armor set. You can also opt to play it safe by using either of the lance weapons with Guard Up. Guard Up blocks all unblockable attacks. You don't need to roll and instead can just stand still and take the hit with your shield up.

The original Quake, bought the game on steam, decided to download a "source port" to play it with better graphics and real mouse support, played it on hard mode and by episode 3, i couldn't take it any more, enemies are bullet sponges, 99% of enemy encounters occur in narrow hallways and the most common enemy type, the ogres, will spam grenades endlessly in said narrow hallways. I guess i'm spoiled by newer FPS games.
