Life isn't all pain and misery, and you don't need the promise of eternal reward for life to be fulfilling. I don't understand why you feel like the universe needs to have any rhyme or reason to begin with. If anything, the idea of there being an all-powerful God that would be willing to inflict eternal punishment on his own creations is a far more terrifying thought to me than there being nothing at all.
I kind of miss the days when edgy "new atheism" was in vogue, instead of "culture wars."
Why on earth would you need the promise of something after death to enjoy life? Not believing in God doesn't strip you of all of your morals or stop you thinking about your impact upon other people/the world at large; this post reads like you're a profoundly selfish person.

This thread reminded me of some old spergout drama fedora bronies had in 2012 over some talking horse episode about faith in your friends being considered a religious allegory to the point where they flooded the show's creator with demands for answers.
