Obscure game you have played - What have you played that you think, maybe, nobody else here has played?

People were wilding out and fan translating obscure SNES RPGs for a while.

Nobody ever did Seijuu Maden though, which...I don't know that game's a fucking trip. It's like Ultima but inscrutably Japanese. I recruited people from the tavern and led them to their deaths in the first dungeon and that's about as far as I got.

(also the soundtrack was done by Hidehito Aoki so it slaps pretty hard.)

Guardians of the Hood - I'm one of the few people that likes Pit-Fighter, so I was hyped when I saw this cabinet at Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America back in the 90s. It's more of a side scroller beat em up. There are a few good ideas, but the controls are awful. I tried it again recently via MAME and I gave up after a couple of levels.

@Pissmaster
Thank you for this post that I cannot quote. I awoo'd! Those A-Train games are a lot of fun but not for everyone. Thank goodness they're for me. Have you played it?

Apparently he's been declared dead?

But do share the mobile version, apparently there's people looking for it.
Found the mobile version. It's a remake by Gameshelf. Seems to be a remake of the shareware version. It's the one I have on my old phone. Looks like it just needs to be downloaded from a website now that it's gone from the stores.

Nnnnnnnope, I remember seeing A-Train in a Maxis advertisement ages ago and was curious about it, and then Dammit Mandrake!'s post terrified me away from it

Rollercoaster Tycoon and Mindustry are about as far as I go with simulators anymore

I'm not sure how obscure it is but one of the first games I played on Playstation was a sci-fi survival horror game called Overblood. Friends and co workers have never seen it or played it.

As fo Psi-Ops, I remember long time ago it was given away fo free but now you need to track down disk version or a good torrent copy
Looks like it's still abandonware, you can still donwload the PC version but probably will be a pain to get running on modern machines.

i LOVE puppet combo games, and i think booty creek cheek freak is one of the best.

Apocalypse.

Apocalypse_starring_Bruce_Willis.jpg

Twin stick shooter in which you play as Bruce Willis in a cyberpunk future setting with religious/demonic themes. A mad scientist creates the 4 horseman of the apocalypse to bring about the end of the world and it's your job to break out of prison and go kill them. Great weapon and level variety, plenty of action, satisfying sound design, late 90s playstation era attitude, just a blast from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Also something interesting I found while writing this: Neversoft would later use Apocalypse' game engine to make Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Spiderman. What a run.

Slowbeef and Diabetus did a Wrongpurae video on it.

I still rewatch it every couple of years.

I guess, I would call all the RPG-Maker-Scenes obscure. At least the german one is to this day active and produces selfmade games. I can especially recommend all realtroll games to the german speaking people. The guy already developes games for more than 15 years, released several casual and riddle games, 2 great rpgs and is currently on his final sprint for his third one.

Another worthwhile Rpg
I guess a commercial one would be Little Fighter 2 for me. Nice little beat em up with keyboard multiplayer.

I'm currently playing one called Cute Bite which plays not unlike the Princess Maker series. Then again, Hanako Games is an obscure company.

This may come off as a cheap promo, but HalfBlindGamer just came back from a long hiatus. He mostly focuses on let's plays and reviews for phillips CD-i games. He got pretty well known for his Zelda CD-i let's plays before they had leaked into the internet consciousness. Definitely worth a check out as far as lesser-known youtube channels are concerned.
