She woke up on a soft couch in a lavish living room. The ceiling was at least 15 feet high. Angelica tried to stand up, her legs were shaky and he head still felt a little light. Her leg was stitched up, it still hurt a little.
"Oh, you've awaken."
A young woman, no older than 25, with black hair and blue eyes walked into the room. She was wearing a dark purple and white maid uniform.
"I…where am I?"
She smiled, "Killington's mansion. My name is Kara, I'm one of his many maids."
"Killington…"
"Is waiting patiently for you in the dining room. It's almost Dinner."
"Dinner?"
Kara didn't seen to notice Angelica said something, "Tonight is a modest dinner of grilled chicken breast with mashed potatoes and mixed greens. Dessert will be chocolate pudding. It's a poor man's food but Killington sometimes likes the simpler things." She smiled, "Come now, we mustn't keep the master waiting."
Angelica should have attacked Kara, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. Kara seemed innocent. Kara wasn't the one who was sick in the head, she was just some girl trying to do her job.
"Alright, I'll go. Where is the dining room?"
"Follow me."
Angelica walked with Kara down a long hallway. The walls were the same purple as Kara's uniform, the floors were hard wood with a white carpet running down the middle. On the walls, several portraits of men who looked like Killington seemed to stare at them. Ancestors?
"Has Killington always had money?"
"Oh yes, the Killingtons are old money. They settled here after the Revolutionary War, they initially made their money in the lumber industry, they bought this land off the Cherokees and discovered gold right outside their mansion. They're the richest family in the CWCville area by far."
"I see. And Mr. Killington...."
"Leon, his first name is Leon."
"Oh, Leon then. What does he do?"
Kara sighed, "He doesn't work, he doesn't have too. He's never had too, he'll have money for the rest of his life, he…can't seem to find a woman, so he has no heirs. Many fear the Killington line will die with him." Kara paused, "Oh! I shouldn't have told you that."
"I won't tell anyone."
"Thank you Angelica," she opened a door, "Here's the dining room, please come in."
Angelica walked into the dining room, a massive chandelier hung over a long white marble-top table the chairs looked like oak with purple padding on the seat and back. Kara pulled out a chair at the end and Angelica sat down, she looked at the other end of the long table and saw Killington, already seated, on the other side. Angelica noticed large window, perhaps she could fly out when Killington had his guard down.
He smiled a crooked smile, "Kara, if you don't mind."
Kara pulled a coil of rope out of her pocket, she tied Angelica's wings together This again and then her legs. She whispered "sorry." then quickly left the room, leaving Angelica and Leon Killington alone.
"I hope you don't mind the ropes, I can't have you flapping and kicking about during dinner." Angelica said nothing. She looked down at her silverware, a salad fork, a dinner fork, and a dessert spoon, all resting on a purple tablecloth. Something is missing.
"I know what you're thinking, I can't trust you with a knife just yet." One of the butlers entered with their food. Just like Kara said, their dinner was a grilled chicken breast, mashed potatoes, and mixed greens. The mash potatoes had a pool of butter with a light dusting of Parmesan cheese on top. The greens had slivers of almonds and a small amount of raspberry vinegarette. The chicken had a white wine sauce with mushrooms. It was the best meal Angelica had ever seen, yet she wasn't hungry at all. She just states at the spot where a knife should have been.
Killington got up, "Here, let me cut that for you." He walked over to Angelica. She closed her eyes.
Please let me disappear, please please
Please…God
Angelica's head felt warmer, she had a flaming halo above her head. Her scrunchie caught fire and fell to the floor, leaving a small pile of ashes. Suddenly she felt stronger, she spread her wings and broke the ropes binging them. She opened her eyes and saw Killington right next to her. She backhanded him across his face and he went flying across the room. She flew towards the ceiling, her wings now made of fire. She had a gold aura around her, like Punchy's blood red. She felt sometime odd about her right hand, when she looked at it a golden dagger appeared. She clutched it and cut the ropes binding her legs.
My final form. She lowered to the ground.
"What…are you?"
"I am the power of faith, I am God's loyal servant and thus, I am the strongest being on earth. I am ArchAngelica!"
Killington looked terrified, he fainted.
Well, that was easy. Suddenly, Angelica felt a pain in her gut. Ah, now I'm hungry. She sat back down at her plate. She cut her chicken with her new dagger. A blessing I didn't have to use it, or is it a shame?
Kara returned to the dining room, "Master Killington, I heard a---"
"Please, sit down and enjoy this meal, Killington sure won't be."
Kara nervously took Killington's place at began slowly eating. Once their meal was done. Kara tried to leave.
"Kara, I believe there was going to be a dessert? Chocolate pudding was it?"
"Ah…yes yes. I'll bring it right away."
After Angelica finished her dessert she opened a window. The sun barely was still out, it wasn't too late for her.
I'm going to fly to the sun.
"W-What are you going to do know?"
Angelica wiped the dagger off on the tablecloth and wrapped it in her napkin. "I'm going to leave, you are the last person who will ever see me," she gave the dagger to Kara. "When I am no longer on this earth, neither will that." Kara held the dagger tightly and nodded.
Angelica flew out the window and towards the sun.
