Odd Youtube Fads

I don't know if commentary videos have been discussed here, but I find them really weird. It's basically autists with weird avatars talking about autists in general.
Ah yes, the commentary community. Can't remember if they have been mentioned, but yes. That's about the gist of it.

Still remember the fallout it went through during late 2011/early 2012 when many of the big names (like Youngbloodfantasy91 and Asaliari) started revealing another, rather fucked up side of them. And when everyone finally noticed their hipocracy. I remember that BlackBuster took the lead in exposing the community at large. If you guys want, I'm willing to talk about my experience with the community (though there may be some power leveling at points, just to forewarn you).

I find the lack of no-commentary gameplay videos disturbing. I don't want to hear some Xanax-Popping hipster beatbox over their score or (insert impossible feat).
World of Longplays has full gameplay recordings that are silent.

Those oh-so-popular "ejy", "adult" Flash animations of popular cartoons/video game characters (Racist Mario, anyone?)... I'll let these do the talking. (On mobile; sorry)

Also, fuck those "music videos" consisting of pairings that you've long forgotten about since 5th grade when you were going through a phase (been there, done that).

I do admit I have a weakness for AMVs that focus on anime jiggle physics. I may not be sure whether to laugh or be (slightly) aroused, but this gem never fails to do so.

Man, that fad is so terrible, like the video you linked is basically showcasing everything wrong with fanimations in one video - clickbait name and thumbnail (including cartoon tits!) and trying to appeal to a 12 year old audience by edging up an innocent franchise

I really dislike reaction videos. They're just so unneccessary and i wonder if there are seriously people actually giving a fuck about how some neckbeard reacts as he watches the most recent world of warcraft cinematic or something. I also hated the reply video fad. In general i dont care too much about vlogging

Those "Kids react" videos are stupid too. Of course most kids have never seen, or care about video tapes, Gameboys, and Saved By The Bell. When the makers of the videos were the same age as those kids, they would probably react the same way towards 8 tracks or disco music.
Believe it or not, most children don't have an interest in what their parents were into when they were young... but the comments on those videos are full of people who seem to think otherwise.

Not to mention that they are instructed to overreact (maybe not by words, but the fact that they know they are filmed for reactions) feels just as cringeworthy for me to see people acting like they've just seen a miracle for a pseudo new game on E3 being presented, it's just mass-hysteria a' la sect meetings. And this old man is tired of it dagnabbit!

5 months late to the party, but I don't think ASMR really counts as a "strange fad". It's an actual scientifically documented phenomenon
Sure, some of the videos are strange, but I don't think that the thing itself doesn't count as a "strange fad"
Yeah, I am aware it's a phenomenon. It's just that ASMR videos are strange and there is so many of them. Imagine finding an ASMR video not knowing it's a phenomenon. You'd probably think it's just some weird fetish.

My confession of the day? I listen to nightcore sometimes.

e for clarity: sometimes nightcore and nightstep (don't judge me *sigh*) sound better than the originals of certain songs, and I find them pleasing when I game.

Yeah I only listen to nightcore when I've already listened to the original so many times. Basically when I'm tired of the original. Sometimes it's torture, but other times it's entertaining.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but there is a side of youtube that just uploads videos of toilets they visit all around the country and it has reviews of them flushing and stuff. Same with elevators.

Also there is a fetish on youtube where people, usually gay men, will rub themselves in mud while covered in clothes. Soemtimes it has them in the shower coovering themselves in goo and whipped cream and chocolate sauce and shit. It's called gunging or something.
