What, specifically, do you want me to explain? I’m not convinced that there was anything irregular about this election other than that the losing candidate attempted to invalidate the result after the fact.

If you want to convince people that it’s worth making a big sacrifice to solve a problem, you first have to convince them that the problem exists. I don’t know what to say other than that. If you could prove to me that thousands upon thousands of people were committing voter impersonation fraud, I’d be happy to support increasing voter ID requirements.

Forcing people to get an ID in order to vote is, though. Until it's shown that voter impersonation is happening in more than just a few cases, there's no point to voter ID laws.

This "Everyone needs to vote" shit is done purely to rely on the the fact the bandwagon fallacy is almost always wrong and people hope all those uninformed morons just vote your person cause you told them to. There's a reason the founding fathers initially had limitations on who can vote, you shouldn't want that homeless dude with a 50 IQ and who is drunk 300 days a year to influence how the country is going to be ran. Just because it's not happening enough to bother you doesn't mean it's not an issue, every false vote negates a legitimate one, you are actively stealing the right to vote from people.

People voting just for the sake of it is one reason we've declined so much, we should be motivating people to become educated and informed, not motivating them to vote for their favorite color like fucking toddlers.

Rights have responsibilities, and if you're unable to meet those responsibilities like having something as basic as a fucking ID then you should lose the right. Just like if some guy walked down the street with his finger on the trigger of a gun waving it around all willy nilly he would lose the right to it.

Money and time can be a barrier to obtaining or updating ID; even many "free" IDs require the applicant to produce a birth certificate, which can cost money to obtain. This is why the poor and the elderly are among the least likely to have government-issued photo ID.

As someone who just updated their ID I can safely say this is horseshit, it costed less than $20 and took less than 15 minutes to get done, if you're not capable of that you are simply not trying.

If you're so poor that you can't afford the $20 to get an ID then you clearly majorly fucked up in life and no one with basic survival instincts wants you influencing how the country is governed.

I stopped reading right there, because guess what? The constitution disagrees with you. Do you disagree with the constitution? Who gets to decide who gets to vote? Maybe your guy is in for four years, then gets voted out, and the guy you hate decides to change voter laws and your side has to jump through hoops to be able to.

The whole point of this is to avoid the people in power from fucking around (which they are and do with gerrymandering and having one polling place for a large community, or locking post boxes so mail in ballots can't be sent in). And people like you who want to find reasons to ignore the constitution only embolden them, because we're all arguing about IDs and who should vote when the constitution makes it crystal clear that every citizen of this country above the age of 18 should not be hindered in their right to vote.
