in Ancient Athens were it was invented, it was used to govern the matters of the city-state along with some punitive actions such as ostracism. Even so in order to vote you had to be male with parents both father and mother Athenian and to own property. That showed that you had a vested interest towards the benefit of the city itself. I don't know how with a straight face you can support this sham that gives you the illusion of a choice you don't really have, and why you would allow second class citizens to vote.

The great question we need to ask ourselves is where our elites come from?

Did the people of high status in our society gain this status by their personal merit? Or is it more hereditary?
Or maybe it's undeserved at all?

The major democracy flaw is that it is based at least on popularity contest, on smoke and mirrors, on creating a convincing persona. There is no way that democratic process can provide us with a leader that we really need for the tough times that are coming.

However, in America the democratic process is even more a sham, because lots of high status positions are not gained via elections, due to cancerous growth of administrative state. True, it might be that some elected positions are a ticket to the more lardy administrative chairs, but I don't think they count that much in the grand scheme of things. They are just a stepping stone.

Democracy itself is a faulty system to govern any population that's over 10000 tops, and even then it shouldn't be used for any kind of executive decisions on how to run a country. The even funnier part is that it's implemented in the wrong manner. Assuming you're not just trolling for funnies, I'd say you're taking an aspect of time and simply assuming that every scene or period is thus circular. Whereas, historically conditions are projected and have constantly increased with each new period, each new civilization that's popped up after, talking about Europe here, not so much Asia, because good god have they fucked it. Have a good foundation, and you won't constantly be fighting back a shadow of past.

Free markets will always lead to the oligarchs running the show, blaming the solution will only hyping the problem. Take government out, who stops Google, Twitter or any other big companies, buying out all the smaller ones, streamlining any and all news that it'll land on the cows' screen. Goes with any and every industry, only takes one to reach the tipping point, where they can take the reigns and assume control over a sector. Only thing stopping, good ol' government. Bet that makes ya feel all warm and bubbly inside, eh?

I prefer capitalism over socialism a thousand times over. But with respects to unregulated capitalism cannot avoid feeling like there is some wisdom in this Bertrand Russell quote:
