So voting by mail shouldn't be permitted -- it's not secure enough. We need to have people voting in person. Except when people do, their votes are also being screwed, so we can't trust them either. How the fuck are we supposed to vote then?

Hand counted paper ballots, (not mailed in or scanned) in each locality, with full public view, is usually considered the gold standard of fair elections. It was done in the Netherlands and a bunch of other countries after the Russia propaganda scare. For example, when the Netherlands did it, their traditional social democratic party lost a ton of votes and the Greens gained a ton of votes, say of that what you will.

With both mail in ballots and in-person electronics voting, both are tabulated outside of each locality creating chain-of-command security holes.

In-person electronic voting is much worse than mail-in ballots though, as any election security expert will tell you. Because there's no way to good way to audit 1s and 0s being, but anything in the physical world in theory will give at least some clues of fraud.

Regardless, the Republicans aren't going to do actual electoral reform by getting rid of in-person electronic voting, as if there was any meaningfully widespread election fraud actually going on, they'd probably benefit from it the most given Diebold and ES&S's historic ties to Republican CEOs and lawmakers. (Chuck Hagel etc)

Bush was the one who signed off on the bill creating mass electronic voting anyway.

There's nothing really wrong with electronic voting if there's a human readable paper receipt that the voter has to verify.

As long as there's a verifiable paper receipt, you might as well have everything on a heavily firewalled VPN where the machines can update tallies to a central server live.

That's what Venezuela uses and Jimmy Carter has found their voting system to be the most secure he's seen anywhere in the world.

The electronic voting machines create a paper ballots afterwards that the voter can see. AZ, GA, PA, MI and NV all have every ballot cast backed up on paper.

The plan from the Trump campaign was pretty straightforward:

  • Spend months building up that mail in ballots are full of fraud.
  • Spend the weeks before the election claiming we NEED to know who won the night of the election not days later.
  • Trumps campaign was hoping to hold Wisconsin or Michigan but they weren't that important at the end of the day and could be lost.
  • Launch an all out war against mail in ballots in Pennsylvania. Trump clearly won the vote the night of. Launch legal attacks from every angle to stop the counting. This is why they didn't want the votes counted before hand. Hold the count and declare victory in Pennsylvania and build a message that he is being cheated.
  • Declare victory the night of the election.
However...
  • AP and Fox News call Arizona which throws a huge wrench into the plan.
  • Then Georgia becomes a problem for Trump.
  • He still declared victory the night of but it makes him look foolish because so many states are outstanding. This isn't the 2000 election where it came down to one state and a few hundred votes.
  • He now needs to convince the Republicans that he was cheated out of not one but several states... and that he needs to challenge not hundreds but hundreds of thousands of votes to claim that they were cast fraudulently.

I love how people are expecting judicial processes to throw out millions of votes and disrupt the entire system just so they CAN look for evidence. Something other than hearsay and ignorant to the process testimony from drunken Karens and people who think they see ghosts in their basement on youtube.

Trump has been gaslighting his base since the 2016 election. That was fraud too, remember... until he won.

Trump was the most based President to have walked the earth. He walked into a room and every set of knickers got wet, children would burst into tears knowing they'd been cradled by a reincarnation of God. Women fell pregnant from just locking eyes with the Big Don. Men envied him, the LGBT community fancied him low key. A true gay icon for the times but nobody would admit it.
