That's interesting because I've gotten men asspained at me any time I mention the fact that Bond is a Sue and the franchise is basically Twilight for dudes. It doesn't mean it's bad to like it or any other schlocky Sue wish fulfillment (including Twilight), but I feel like overall men get a lot more defensive over admitting male characters are Sues. Meanwhile they're quick to label female characters they personally dislike as Sues regardless of whether they actually are (like Rey).

It's ironic since outside of fanfiction, there are probably more male Sues than female ones given that fiction overall has kind of traditionally been a sausage fest. The Benchdal Test exists for a reason (not that something is automatically bad for not passing it, shit some of my favorite works of fiction don't pass).

Really odd because I can't think of any fictional character in any medium that is more open and honest about being a straight-up wish-fulfillment fantasy. I don't know why that's even controversial. At one point I'm pretty sure a tagline they used was even "Women want him, men want to be him."

I'm assuming it's the same MGTOW/MRA tards who got really butthurt about Charlize Theron's character in Mad Max Fury Road because she was taking screentime away from Max, who was for some reason their ideal of a badass alpha male even though he's basically a mentally/emotionally damaged drifter with severe PTSD. I still like to laugh at the one chud who bitched and whined about an "icon of American masculinity" being sidelined, forgetting that Mad Max is an Australian franchise.

I think most of the whining came before the film was released. All the culture war retards on both sides were shitting out articles about how it was going to be a politically charged feminist piece pushing a hamhanded agenda, and then it came out and it was just a downright good movie and worthy addition to the franchise. I never doubted it would be, because George Miller is an uncompromising visionary genius, but considering how many other old 80s/90s franchises were being 'reimagined' into trash sequels, I don't really blame the skeptics for being pessimistic.

I know a few people still cried about it like dumb faggots after it came out, but they were just the fully brainrotted culture war dregs who cry about women existing in general, and they honestly really missed the point of Mad Max. The supporting characters don't just take up screentime, they're needed to drive the entire plot. Max's story got told and finished in the first movie, and everything after that is just a mentally broken ghost who died inside a long time ago and reluctantly stumbles into other people's conflicts.

I love Mad Max I could honestly talk about it all day.

Can you recommend one or two that are interesting or different? I'll report on the vibe of the comment section here to pay the thread tax.

I personally like Matt Orchard quite a bit. He is the only true crime channel I am subscribed to since he covers interesting stories without mugging the camera with his face or just playing interrogation footage like JCS/JCS-knock-offs.
The most interesting case he covered was the David Bain case(video) it's about a family that was murdered and the suspects are down to the son(only surviving family member) vs the father(murder suicide). Obviously it's biased, but it is not a clear who done it unlike spouse murder. Though I believe that David Bain is the perp.

So much for patriarchy being superior.

And that's fine, because Sue wish fulfillment stories have existed for centuries and persist for a reason. Sometimes you want a robust, healthy meal at a nice restaurant, other times you want a big mac.

Its just weird how many guys get their panties in a bunch when you point out Bond and other male Sues are Sues. Especially when it's the same dudes calling any female protagonist in a franchise they like Sues for seemingly just being female protagonists with abilities typical for that franchise.

Very similar in tone, setting, atmosphere, keeps the same level of quality when it comes to visual storytelling and 'show, don't tell', even has Toecutter/Joe showing up to play the main villain. I always considered it a defacto spinoff to the franchise.
