thank you, it really is especially worse for me because of my size. I get mistaken for being younger than I actually am. this means unfortunately young people and older men harass me. I'm scared I'm going to be decades older and still be heckled like I am now.
I could be covered up entirely in the winter and still be hassled... i unfortunately have stories relating to this, maybe I'll share more of tales of my male miseries another time.
Thankfully the job I have right now is very limited in the people I see; animal-centered. but it is very intensive, overtime every week. I hate to sound like... "a girl", but lately I've been having to look in the mirror and realize no matter how hard I try, I can't be as tough or resilient as a man. Starting to wear on me physically. I don't have much meat on my bones or fat for that matter so I'm worried about fainting or my heart going out on me. I've worked a lot of labor/physical jobs to stay out of the customer light but I still have dealt with creeps and weirdo coworkers in those fields.
I think it's the city. It's only getting worse.
Maybe I could start taking classes for certifications for things, like sterilization lab work is something I see a lot of listings for. I hate the idea of wasting my time on certifications... not being able to get experience or, applying the knowledge to something that would separate me from the rest of the lot getting certified for the job too. i am currently a college student but my degree is in foreign language crap I probably will never find a job for.
Here's another story, but of the cis male variety. I used to take public transit for a food job i worked. worst time of my life. A nasty stinky hairy man sat next to me on the bus stop and asked me rudely for the time, and when I responded, he looked at me and his expression softened... but it was that creepy, predatory kind. Like insidious. felt disgusted because when he smiled at me I could see his nasty cryptkeeper teeth. He tried to talk to me but I couldn't understand him because he was Indian or something, sorry I'm not really apt distinguishing the bestial dialects being spat at me. The bus comes and he tries to sit next to me but I put my backpack next to me and then he sits behind me. I thought it was going to be the end of it but God is cruel to me and so was this man, he decided to take his nasty shoes off while the bus was in motion. The smell was so bad the bus driver became upset. he stopped the bus and threatened not to move until the man either put his shoes back on or left. He decided to put his shoes back on. This man then tried to scrawl his phone number on some newspaper he found on the floor and slide it to me from the side of the windows and seat and tried grabbing me and reaching out to give it to me as I left the bus.
