I've gotten so much shit online for being into tabletop RPGs, like I'm personally ruining the only hobby these men have, yet IRL my players keep telling me I'm the best DM they've ever had and they can take over for a few weeks of mini campaign if I need a break but they really really want me to keep DMing for them.
It's just a case of "us boys are so cool and fun, but girls only care about uncool and boring things, if we let girls into our hobbies they'll make them just as bad as those other hobbies we don't have", and then reinforcing that idea by writing greentexts about how women ruined X which makes other men write greentexts about that, and eventually they just take it for the truth because there are countless stories of it happening online. Whereas of course the reality is that you don't get into a hobby unless you're interested in what that hobby actually is, so women joining in shouldn't mean it needs to change at all. What were you actually doing that was so disgusting that letting women know about it would ruin it?

I have a simple proposition for the men (all of them): for each child your wife has, you give her $500k. That's the price to emigrate to America on investor visa if you don't have an anchor baby and/or a loving spouse willing to file the green card request for you; if having a family is at least as important to them as being American, then this fee should be no problem. The case continues to blow my mind. It's incredible how many feminist tropes of male behaviour and male mindset it features.

I still think the real story here is how our court systems are set up against rape victims as a default. English language journalistic coverage continues to be quite poor; they're covering only the salacious parts and setting aside how poorly Gisèle is being treated by the system itself. Obviously don't want to raise any doubts about the system itself.

The secondary story is that of the women involved here, not least Gisèle, but also of many others who have defied the pressures of male domination and of the patriarchal court system to band together. Sisterhood is something to behold.

The French language live tweets of the court proceedings are invaluable for their unvarnished and uncensored coverage. Would highly recommend.

I do know that. I've posted before how men have no problem believing a dead woman was raped by some mystery killer, but will suddenly close ranks around the other men if the victim survives and directs blame to actual suspects, and those same men will make claims to benefit of the doubt and reasonable doubt. It's like they have no problem believing dead women were raped, but if the woman survives and can name her rapist suddenly she gets the gauntlet, "how do you know that" "how dare you accuse him of that" etc.
