Men not being able to take care of themselves seems to be a relatively new phenomenon. Both of my grandfathers were born in the deep south in the 1930s and they knew how to cook, do laundry, and sew. Sewing was and still is to some extent a common skill among military men who need to be able to repair and modify their equipment and was considered a masculine skill. As for the ridiculous double standards around promiscuity I think that's mostly the result of porn. Being Christian, my older male relatives thought that women should remain virgins before marriage, but they were also adamant that a man had no right to expect his wife to be a virgin if he wasn't a virgin himself.

I've heard plenty of horror stories about zoomer women not being able to take care of themselves. They're not as autistic and hopless as the male zoomers but they aren't doing great. Gen X failed as parents.
