women spend a shit ton of time and money on all of the beauty rituals expected of them, women will never have economic or political power on par with men when they spend their time and money on nonsense. Where does someone draw the line at which beauty practices are harmful or not? Women are treated better if they wear makeup, there are studies that prove that. It's hardly a choice we can make freely when it costs us work opportunities etc. Just because men don't compliment your makeup doesn't mean they don't expect you to do it, you said your self they're just too stupid to notice it, but they definitely notice if you don't look how they expect women to look. Women are expected to shave their whole bodies, use a million costly anti aging products, dye their hair, get lash extensions, eyebrows, nails etc etc. None of these things are entirely safe. I don't see how any of that is different than breast implants, these are all just ridiculous expectations placed on women to meet insane beauty standards, just because you enjoy some of those things doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticized.I don't see any difference in wearing a pumpkin colored sweater cause it's fall and wearing some fall themed eyeshadow shades. I don't see why wearing clothes you like is okay but not wearing make-up. No man has ever complimented me on my make-up or noticed it at all, it's really just women who notice it and talk about it. I don't think women should be pressured to wear make-up but I also think it's comparable to breast implants or sex works at all since those involve bodily harm.
Make up is not harmless either, socially, mentally or physically. All of these products contain ingredients that can do some harm, some of which are only okay to use in beauty products if you don't exceed x amount, but you get 10 different products all which use some of the same ingredients and you've passed that threshold already. Plenty of things we thought were save for decades we only learn were not safe later too, so no one should be surprised if they turn out to be carcinogenic in the future. Even most mascaras were recently shown to contain PFAS. You don't even have to be a feminist to oppose those things, I've got hippie friends that hate this shit for it's effects on health and environment.
Even if it really takes only 5 minutes, they still had to spend time and money on trying and testing and learning with a million different products, they still have to use skin products to either make the makeup look smooth on the skin or to deal with what make up does to skin, they still have to spend time removing body hair, using a million hair products, perfumes, nail polish etc etc, you don't see men walking around with ridiculous pieces of plastic glued to their eyelashes or nails. Most of the arguments in the thread are that men should be held to higher standards and have whole ass retarder routines like this. How about humans strive to be healthy, stop polluting their bodies and their environment and not look like retarded porn imitations? Wearing make up is as feminist as cutting off your labia to fit a porn standard. I guess in the next decade women will argue that they're bleaching their assholes for themselves too cause they really enjoy it?You overestimate how much makeup most women wear daily. A lot of women I know can do it in 5-10 minutes, or less.
high heels are harmful too, and hardly a choice in many places where the dress code requires them, like some places in the USA or all of japan. Women are required to wear shoes that affects their physical health just to look hot for the men around them, But some women like it i guess so we can't criticize that either.Wake up in the morning, take a shower, put on my boob-prison, put on my oppression fashion, put on my slavepaint, curl my hair with my suffer-stick, put on my rape shoes and and I am ready to head out he door to get sexually harassed by my boss. Such is life as a femoid.
