Yes and no. It depends on the cause factor for the individual when it comes to why they become a troon. Eg, the more historic example is usually for gay men trooning out such that they could then become married to other men (this was more prevalent in the 50s). I'm not going into Weimar and Nazi germany but that's another can of worms (yes people that carried out sex change operations later worked for the nazi party).Real question: Do you guys believe that there's a direct correlation between Internet porn and the increase of troonery. I go back and forth in my mind about this a lot. Internet porn has been prevalent since the 90s, and we saw troons start to pop around 2014-5. Are there multiple factors?
The common cause factors which I've personally noticed are typically that of (for men) are AGP, HSTS and Autism/Masking (this exists in a quest for some form of social acceptance). The AGP as we all well know would be of a higher correlation, this being primarily because of how it is derived from a fetish of the perception of feminity. Porn helps push the idea of women wanted to be used and abused sexually and some will get off to this. HSTS is not directly relevant but may. Similarly, for the Autism/Masking cause factor (I do need to work on a better term for this) a lot of it too comes from perceptions. A lot of this is built firmly around why a male may wish to transition from this cause factor and what helps lead to it. Generally speaking, the (high functioning) autist is often pushed to try mask into society and this is true for autism in both men and women and hide their special interests. With high functioning autism, whereby social boundaries may not be clearly defined or seem dumb it really needs to come from their idea of femininity and what specifically morphed it. This latter category I need to work on defining more. Internet pornography however is an integral part of online troon culture. This needs to be emphasised so although they may not be a direct correlation in that of the cause factors, there is certainly a link. - I only picked up on it personally after reading about masking as I was unaware of the concept directly (I was aware of the act subconsciously) in terms of trying to fit into social groups. Ik some others have mentioned it.
For women, the most prevalent form is typically in that of the reaction of society and that of feminity. Some, may chose to reject being a women because they may view themselves as lesser for it. I do recall seeing figures of this whereby if a woman was exposed to pornography at a younger age they may be more likely to "transition" (it's typically more traumatizing for women from what I've read about it). What "transition" means for women however is often different for men then women. Especially in teenage years. It's more not wanting to be of the classical idea of partaking in womanhood. It's like why some women today do wish to have breast reduction because of the idea of being sexualised.
It's typically bad practice to assign singular variables as leading a person to become or do X. This however, is to not say that porn cannot help lead to transition. It certainly can.
