This is a mentality I see pop up a lot for some reason. I don't know if there's a specific name for it (if someone does, lmk) but it's like a zero-sum way of thinking--as if you can only think about or do one thing at once.We have trannies that are chomping at the bit to destroy woman-kind and we’re squabbling over extremely privileged assholes.
These aren't slices of pie. Nobody is devoting 7 of 8 slices to one thing and only 1 slice to a more important thing--at its core, these issues are the same. Trannies being able to force their way into female spaces due to male privilege is not a situation entirely divorced from the media bending over backwards to glorify Depp, and convince onlookers to root for him, due to male privilege. For months during and after the trial, every single social media platform was flooded with shit absolutely demonizing Heard in a way that Depp was never subjected to. People who had not been following his career at all until then, and had no idea about the UK trial, formed this intense parasocial support for him as if they knew him personally. It's the same principle presenting itself on different levels.
It's a funny example but I think I've seen it the most when it comes to drag queens and things like that. "Why are you worried about pedophiles reading to children when you should be worried about pedophiles in the Catholic church?" It's a manipulative way of phrasing things that essentially says, "You should ignore this."
