Yeah not only this but that calling it “boyish“ only reinforces its “boyish“ Status lol.. theres nothing inherently boyish about it. If there were, we wouldn’t be interested in these things as women in the first place, but we are; there are plenty little girls that find bugs and animals cool (I know I did), and like other posters have said before, there are plenty of women that work in biology related fields, zoos, animal Sanctuaries, etc…

I feel that calling such interest “gender non conforming” just ends up reinforcing the idea that all interests are tied to gender. Maybe thinking bugs are fascinating is just a human trait, not male or female.
In a perfect world, no interests would be stereotyped as having any age or gender associations. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. Plenty of women like things like bugs and toy dinosaurs but unfortunately those interests are still seen as not "appropriate" for women, or else I wouldn't have gotten shat on for it growing up and my sister wouldn't have given herself zoophobias to conform to gender stereotypes.

Let's not kid ourselves that girls aren't pressured to drop everything they like that doesn't conform to gender stereotypes as they grow up.

I get that. And I get the tomboy label (though I gotta say I also associate it with young girls rather than adult women); but I think calling that stuff boyish just proves them right; I understand that right now its considered gender non conforming, but I think it's more powerful to accept that it doesn't mean anything.
But this is all kind of semantics; I understand your point :)

I think your problem is autism and not your interests. If you have the social skills to talk about your interests/hobbies in a way that's understandable and interesting to uninitiated normies, nobody will look down on you for having them.

Tell that to my family.

Though autism isn't entirely unrelated, because autistic girls are under particularly harsh pressure to conform to stereotypical norms. There are even books about autism in girls (written by nonautistic "autism experts" because of course they are) that openly encourage girls to stop being interested in anything that doesn't conform to stereotypes (I remember Star Wars was the example one book used, even though plenty of girls and women like it) and mimic the interests of girls around them like fashion and makeup.

I don't think this is unrelated to why so many autistic girls in particular are deciding they aren't girls now that they know it's an option.

I don’t understand how the interest of certain animals and scientific disciplines makes one a “tomboy” or more “boyish”. Animals of all species and science in general are fucking awesome. I hate how femininity is often equated to things that are seen as more puerile and maternal.
Liking quirky, cool and unusual things = boy
Liking superficial, boring and stupid things = girl

I felt like we already overcame this shit at some point but with the tranny shit (that AR supports btw) we went right back to it. It really pisses me off too that things that climbing trees and playing with sticks is considered a "boyish" thing, all children love to do that. I'd say the vast majority of girls, if left to do whatever they want would be "tomboys". It's society that pressures women to not be wild, rambunctious, loud and get dirty. The idea that if you like being outdoorsy or like dinosaurs then you are boyish because that's only for boys to like is so assbackwards retarded.

It's really obvious too that women who feel like they have more "cool masculine" interests see themselves as superior to the boring girls who like normal boring girl things like make-up or sewing, that's the real reason they cling to the tomboy label as adults. To set themselves apart as cool girls and also because it gets attention from men who fetishize this type of woman now due to it being pushed in porn and anime.

I don't, and neither do any of the women I know that call themselves tomboys. I think you're projecting your own personal biases onto random women for whatever reason.

Stereotyping any interests as being for a specific gender or age category is dumb and like I said, in a perfect world it wouldn't happen, but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.

I think assuming any women only likes what she likes for male attention is more than a little misogynistic, whether she's a girly girl or tomboy.

I mean you use your personal "hate thread" as a blog on here which is full of men fawning over how cool and unusual your interests in breeding insects and snakes and lizards is, but I'm sure you don't want that attention at all which is why you entertain every man who wants his personal slapfight about abortion with you and have been for 11 years.

We live in that world because people like you are enforcing these categories and stereotypes. We were already over this in my childhood and with the trans rights activists saying "no actually girl is when pink and boy is when blue" we went straight back to it. You also think that men can be women if only they put on a dress and grow out their hair since you have many troon friends, so don't pretend like you don't fully buy into gender stereotypes. Otherwise you wouldn't support that nonsense.

That's not what I said. I said you like the cool girl cred and approval that comes with identifying as a tomboy even as an adult woman instead of just calling yourself a woman who likes bugs and dinosaur toys. I'm sure you would like them regardless but I also think you talk about it so much because it's how you define your entire personality, which you yourself said you define yourself by the tomboy label and introduce yourself to others that way.

Yeah, but saying "I am an adult woman that likes bugs, toy dinosaurs, mecha anime, and running around innawoods like a cryptid who isnt interested in conforming to socially-mandated feminine beauty standards and prefers to wear men's clothes" is a bit of a mouthful.

This is also the first I'm hearing that autistic ass shit like toy dinosaurs is considered a "cool girl" thing (that would've been nice to know at 14 when i was getting shat on nonstop for it).

This article written by another adult woman that IDs as a tomboy sums up my feelings pretty well, especially the idea that adult tomboys think they're better than feminine women.

Women should be able to like whatever they like, and call themselves whatever they want. There's no wrong way to be a woman unless it involves committing serious crimes or something.

this i think is the crux of it; it's true that we live in in a flawed world, but it won't change unless we stop associating certain hobbies or interests with masculine or feminine. If you (not you, I mean in general) want to move past it all, then you're also gonna have to move past the labels. Maybe. On one hand, i do understand the utility of them as a descriptor, but I do agree that they inevitably reinforce gender stereotypes; sort of like the nonbinary label tries to fight a gender binary but ends up making another binary of not non binary (normal. lol) and non binary. I'm aware being simply a tomboy is nothing like pooning out. I'm talking words here.

true
autistic ass shit like toy dinosaurs is considered a "cool girl" thing
anything is cool in the right context....like in indie movies or Luc Godard films... In the real world it depends, i guess

In the real world, girls interested in stereotypically "masculine" things are given the option at the onset of puberty to either start being girly, or stop being girls. The only "cool" thing for them is to conform or poon. I think that's where a lot of my issue with being against adult women being and calling themselves tomboys comes from. We still aren't quite to the point that being GNC as an adult woman is an accepted option for girls yet, not without significant pushback and bullying. Especially for heterosexual women.

Once we get to the point where girls aren't called dykes and shat on by their peers and families for remaining GNC as they age, then we can worry about ditching identity labels entirely.

Anyway men don't wash their butts, gross.

“Change the alcohol warning label to remove the maternal emphasis and put it on both parents to say, ‘The decision to consume this beverage can have significant, life-changing consequences to a future child,’” he said. “Right now, the warning label only conveys part of the story. We must get that message out into the world as quickly as possible.”
Changing it to gender neutral language isn't going to stop men. People might think that it some woke ideology rewording to avoid saying "pregnant women".
But honestly even if they explicitly said men and women shouldn't consume during conception and throughout pregnancy, moids (aka most men) still would drink because they never change their habits unless it inconveniences them

The term tomboy is pretty sexist tbh because it implies that women and girls with "masculine" interests are less of a woman than women with "feminine" interests.
Tomboy is a lot quicker and easier to say than "I have the interests and personality of a stereotypical 10 year-old boy".
You're just a woman. If people are confused by that, that's their problem.

You fool! Don't go back without getting Foucault too!

Get a load of the sphincter guzzling lips on this shiny asshole.

:story:

And if men want women like the woman who raised you then humanity needs to die out.

Butt biscuit, I'd slap your mother myself for raising you with the audacity to look like that and think your opinions mean anything.
