AC fan here. The issue with Yasuke and the game itself, aside from the outrageous prices, is the fact the game is written by a woman who wrote a book on underage boys fucking Samurai for gender studies. No, I'm not joking. Yasuke was in Nioh, and actually looks better there than in the AC Game. He actually looks African, vs Killmonger with dreads.Moids will complain about women not being honest about being racist, but then turn around, and do the exact same thing.
Case in point: the current drama about the new AC game.
Tl;dr: Gamer moids are absolutely melting down over the black samurai in it, and reeing "muh historical accuracy" when it's clear they don't give a shit about that, and instead are just mad that it's a black guy since they've never once done the same thing to the countless other pieces of media that have depicted historical figures as coombait anime chicks.
What makes it even funnier is that the series has never been that historically accurate, or realistic (far from it, actually), and the black guy really did exist, and is considered a samurai in Japan. The Japanese also do actually like him, and he, and characters based on him have appeared in media over there several times. Finally, there is also a real Japanese protagonist in the game as well, but she doesn't count because she's a woman, or something.
Aveline de Grandpre had an entire game based on her, and so did Adewale. Ubisoft can easily tap into genuine African history and make a game based on that, but they're just lazy.
When the Assassin's Creed Sisterhood movement tried and failed to take off, they note Elise de la Serre was meant to have a larger role in Unity, but cut it because the company thought male gamers didn't want to play her (despite Lara Croft already being an icon by then), and how forcing Kassandra into a straight relationship was, according to some fans on Reddit, lesbian corrective rape. I am not kidding. You can play Evie Frye briefly in Syndicate but Jacob has always had more fan support.
The games totally veered away from the groundedness of Origins to the craziness of Odyssey and Valhalla. Mirage ended up looking worse than Unity, a TEN YEAR OLD GAME.
