In summary, a journo who is a turbo fan of Cormac McCarthy was able to contact a woman who left a comment on one of the journo's previous stories where she alluded to knowing Cormac well. He goes out to stay with her for like NINE MONTHS. Turns out she met Cormac at a motel pool when she was a teen and in an abusive foster family. The article is nauseating for its romanticization of what was clearly the grooming of a young and vulnerable girl. Augusta still rationalizes the relationship (as victims tend to do). Ridley Scott is trying to make a movie adaptation of Blood Meridian so unless that gets canceled I think we have a few more years.
