Furious viewers are calling out
controversial Twitch streamer Kai Cenat for his 'sick' and 'abusive' treatment of a $70,000 humanoid robot.
A clip from the stream drew immediate backlash on X, formerly
Twitter, as Cenat, 23, and his friends Agent00 and Fanum were seen pushing and kicking down the robot in troubling footage that left many upset by the 'bullying' behavior on display.
After being knocked down and making several attempts to stand back up, the humanoid is seen fleeing from the scene as it made an escape from the attack.
The caption for the viral tweet explained what was taking place as the X user wrote: 'Kai Cenat's $70k
AI humanoid robot just tried running away from the AMP house because it kept getting kicked and bullied by Kai, Agent and Fanum.'
Disgusted viewers immediately shared their fury at the young men's behavior as one person wrote: 'This isn't funny, it's actually quite disturbing to watch. I know it's a machine but the power and control dynamic idk just this is wild.
'Also, I've seen i, Robot and if technology ever gets to that level I'm on the
robots side and I'll give the bots all three of them no problem.'
Another user tweeted: 'I'm prepared to sell out any person who is this cruel when the robot uprising takes place. Because why do you want to bully a creature lesser than you??? Why is that your first instinct?'
Indeed, many commenters made reference to hit films such as i, Robot where the plot sees robots fight back and take control from human beings.
However, the majority of the comments saw horrified users reflecting on the disturbing nature of the violent antics on display by Cenat - who has 16.1 million followers on Twitch.
'I think it's very interesting the way people act when they perceive zero consequences and how often that usually means violence,' one user noted. 'This is so sad and psychotic that I'm feeling bad for an object.'
Another added: 'The way you treat things you think are lower than you says a lot about you.'
'I do not like this at all. It is LITERALLY bullying. I don't care if it's AI. This is not entertainment. It's sick,' one user lambasted.
One viewer shared fears about what this would inspire in young viewers as they wrote: 'Robot or not, your viewers are super impressionable. When they see people they admire acting like this, it tells them that it's okay.
'No one else has a $70k robot to mess with. So they're gonna do it to their siblings/peers at school/work.'
Another added: 'Yeah let's kick around a robot that's built like a small child! That's hilarious and totally not concerning on a really deep level... freak weirdos delighting in abusing something human-ish and then showing it to their young impressionable audience.'
Many in the comments couldn't hide their horror at the fact the group automatically chose to 'bully' something that was defenseless.
One person stated: 'Not to be dramatic but this is a prime example of how men crave power just so they can abuse.
'They acquired an expensive marvel of technology and their first instinct is to be violent to it because it has no self-defense mechanism or rights.'
Another wrote: 'Stuff like this isn't funny to me because I feel like "bully behavior" isn't funny period... idc if the "obot doesn't have feelings" why do you feel good about being mean/physically violent?'
'We shouldn't confuse robots as having feelings but I'm deeply skeptical of people who delight in having something to abuse,' one person tweeted.
One X user mused: 'Not to get all think-piecey about this, but I don't trust anyone who finds joy in bullying a helpless being whether it's a robot, an animal, a human etc.
'Too many people lack empathy and I judge anyone who thinks this kind of "content" is funny.'
Another agreed: 'I don't like robots but it's weird to get something with little to no free will and immediately think to start bullying it.
'You get access to advanced technology and instead of doing something interesting and productive, you decide to bully it because it looks human but is defenseless?'
'I know it's just a robot but why is this still sad to watch?' one user simply wrote.
It is far from the first time the Twitch streamer
has caused a stir online after he was accused of taking things too far by broadcasting a hanging prank to thousands of people.
Cenat was seen 'hanging' a man during a broadcast after he was asked to pull on one of two ropes in front of him.
Video footage from the livestream showed a shirtless man, later revealed to be magician Max Major, standing on a yellow stool with a noose around his neck, seconds before Cenat pulled the rope.
Screams could be heard as the man was pulled upward and those around him brought him down immediately.
Cenat was heard telling his cameraman: 'What the f**k? Wait, no, no! I'm not getting banned! N***a, I might get banned! Is he good? I'll stay here. I'll stay here! Can I stay here?'
But it was later revealed that the man being hanged was
YouTube magician Max Major, who pulled an elaborate prank on him.
Major said he knew Cenat would try and outsmart him, and deliberately planned the trick so that the streamer would choose the 'wrong' rope.
Back in 2023, Cenat was also responsible for a riot in Union Square, New York City after his free game console giveaway spun out of control.
He ultimately was not prosecuted on charges of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly.
